  1. That looks so sick no joke. I say screw what pop culture says is fashionable. I would walk around in that outfit on a day to day basis if police in my area weren't so suspicious
  2. Ok, so now that I learned that Star Fortress Productions is a no no, where do you all get your weapon props? I am particularly interested in the heavy blasters / rifles, but of course I'm going to need the good old E 11 as well. I know some of you all actually make your own, or even mod toy blasters to look realistic, but I would prefer something I can buy ready-to-use, because between school and work full time I have little spare time to make my own I really appreciate all the help guys, Im getting more knowledgeable about this costuming thing every day thanks to you all -Phil
  3. Holy Crap. I was seriously about to buy from this guy. Thanks for the warnings guys, I owe you all.
  4. Yeah, so the site is Star Fortress Productions Apparently they have a huge library of costumes and blaster props that they make from scratch. I was thinking about ordering some blaster props from these guys. Has anyone ever ordered from them? Do they make good props?
  5. Hey, aren't stormtroopers put on like, a strict, calorie-limited diet to maintain combat effectiveness? I thought everyone would be posting variations of protien cubes! from "indoctrination" (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Davin_Felth)
  6. Nice at this one ^ Thanks!
  7. Hey all, I have this idea to improve ventilation for my MR CE helmet, but I am really nervous about it and I don't know where to start. You see I want to put a lot of padding inside to make it very snug (like a motorcycle helmet) but after reading posts from the forums, a primary concern of mine is going to be the heat, because I am going to want to wear it for extended periods of time. So i had this idea to actually cut real slits in the back two trapezoids: (image courtesy of wannabetrooper) Obviously the slits I would cut would follow each of the black lines. I would then put fans inside the helmet to expel hot air out the back. So my question is, do you think this would be possible? I have no idea, so I also need to ask what sort of tool can do this? I envisioned that I would need to use some kind of small drill, with a specially teethed drill bit for cutting. Anyone know of such a tool? I am also really concerned because I desperately don't want to mess up my helmet doing this, so I am asking you all before I take on this task. All suggestions and comments are appreciated.
  8. Make sure you have a uni-directional mive vs. an omni directional mic for one BTW your signiture is adorable.
  9. Hi Guys, I am working on planning out the interior of my helmet, and I just had a simple question about fans. Where do you believe the best place to install them is for the most effective cooling? I have browsed the forums and have seen people do a number of things such as install the fans right on the frown so they take in air from the outside. I have also seen people put fans at the chin, and also inside the ring that goes around the bottom of the helmet. But yeah, I would appreciate people's 2 cents. Pictures would be helpful as well. Thanks, Phil
  10. I saw it, and I thought it was well done. I went to see it with an open mind. Sure it had that element in it for the kids, but the battles were serious, and I loved the fact that they showed the troopers in (most) all of their glory (you see troopers going hand-to-hand in some cases with the enemy!). But yeah, I loved watching the clones fight, and the story wasn't half bad either. I give it a thumbs up. Like I said, sometimes to enjoy stuff like this, you just have to be accepting and enjoy it for what it is, not try and compare it on the same level as the other Star Wars films.
  11. That's the common misconception. Stormtroopers themselves aren't evil, but the leadership they operate under typically is. I'm a really big fan of Expanded Universe stories, and I have read comics / books (like Allegiance by Timothy Zahn) that explains that some Imperial Troops enlisted because they believed that they were helping to protect the citizens of the Empire, and to maintain order in the galaxy. In actuality of course, those were the last things on Palpatine's mind, so a lot of times, Stormtroopers are sent in to decimate entire villages to find rebels, and other nasty stuff that makes them look like they are really evil (they are forced to follow orders so it's not entirely their fault). However, there are some tales of stormtroopers fighting thugs and pirates to protect people
  12. Noted. Lets start writing some letters to the director
  13. If it's in the extended universe it's fair game. Although, in my opionon, stormtroopers should have silver colored lightsaber blades to match their armor: Silver Lightsaber:
  14. I love the imperial tatoo. If I saw someone with a tattoo like this in public I would totally go up and talk to them.

  15. I think we should petition..., yo know, get a bunch of 501st members to send little messages to whoever is creating the TV series ad just ask them "PLEASE have a better portrayal of stormtroopers!". I bet if they get enough letters they might actually make an episode featuring stormtroopers, or telling the story from their point of view, making them better fighters, etc.... I mean, even George Lucas recognizes the 501st fan club. Like I said, if the creators get enough letters, I bet you we could change some things Hypothetical idea for an episode: Stormtroopers are battling some kind of mercinary / pirate gang. Lots of collateral damage. One stormtrooper takes it upon himself to rescue a child about to be crushed by debris. Or something along those lines
  16. Everywhere you look its the troopers who are always getting haplessly knocked around by jedi, sith, rebels, or what have you. It was the Ewoks for me. I saw ROTJ and I was in denial for the longest time. I thought to myself "No...no troopers are better than this!" I have always been told that they are the ELITE shocktroopers of the Empire. I have always envisioned Stormtroopers as bieng on par with say, the army Rangers, or the US Marines or something, if you read more about what their training is like. For me, stories of guys like Daric LaRone in Timothy Zahn's Allegiance novel exemplify what I believe stormtroopers are. This story showed me how, instead of bieng clumsy anonymous figures in white armor, Stormtroopers can really be great warriors. The story also prooved that, unlike many people think, a lot of Stormtroopers aren't evil!
  17. I really hope they will make the stormtroopers more formidable then they were portrayed in the original trilogy. In every star wars dictionary, encyclopedia, etc... I have read, TK's are supposed to be the "Elite" shocktroopers of the Empire. I would love to see some TKs take down some pirates / thugs, or like, kick some enemies' butt in like hand-to-hand combat or something
  18. I second this!!
  19. Thanks guys I appreciate the advice!
  20. Hey all, I am looking for some industrial strength velcro to use to put kneepads inside my helmet to make it more snug. I was thinking of using this: ----- Essentially I was looking for velcro that had adhesive on both sides (one side to fasten to the inside of my helmet, and one side to fasten to the pads. Do you think this stuff should do the trick? Is there any other better velcro that you all know about? Thanks, Phil
  21. Hey everyone, thanks for all of the pics, this really helps. ^ In this helmet though, how did you attach the triktoys amp and everything? Did you actually glue the Trik Toys amp to the helmet? How about the fan, did you glue that as well? Also, I was thinking of buying the triktoys amp. How well does it work with Stomper's speakers?
  22. Hello all, I was wondering if you guys could do me a huge favor. I am trying to plan out how I want to position the electronics inside of my MR CE helmet. I am planning on getting the Radio Shack personal amp for in-helmet sound, and I also am getting Stomper's Super Trooper In-Aerator speakers, but I need to find a way to position the amp inside the helmet (along with kneepads for better fitting etc...). Just to get some general ideas about how to go about doing this, do you think you all might be able to snap some pics for me of the inside of your helmet(s) to help me figure out how to position my amp / batteries and everything? I would really appreciate it, it would help me out alot. Thanks, Philip
  23. Hey guys, Currently I own a MR CE helmet, and I really want to try and install an in-helmet sound setup. I have heard that some speakers called Supertroopers are the best way to go, but I also know that there are other factors for putting a soundsystem in the helmet, spicifically getting the hovis that fit the speakers, and finding an amp that will fit inside the helmet. I was wondering if anyone has sucessfully assembled an in-helmet sound system, and could instruct me on the best way to do this, and where to get the right / best supplies. Thanks, Phil
  24. This guy looks totally sick.
  25. That is extremely glossy I mean, I'm sure that level of gloss is what a Stealth Trooper helmet would look like in theory, but you are essentially reflecting everything around you! Looks kind of weird to me, but hey, if that's what Stealth Troopers are supposed to look like, then well done
