  1. Any update on this? I've been following the progress and was curious as to how the app was moving along? I'm thinking about buying a splitter to try this with my aker...
  2. I wish I had found this site long ago... This site has just about every frame from all of the star wars movies as a high res screen cap. http://starwarsscreencaps.com/ I would grab and "save as" reference material you want before its gone... Please move this post if it belows in another location for me... TD-13167
  3. R4ZORBL4DE... Did you take a little off the top of the thighs? If so, did you go to the trouble of adding a new return edge? Mine are a bit long and I need to trim them.
  4. I picked up some today at a brick and mortar Tandy store and they all have "Tandy" on them. I guess there are variations...
  5. Do all of the line 24 Snaps have the tandy logo on them. I bought some off of Amazon and they don't have the logo and question if they are legit...
  6. Hey troopers - I'm an aspiring 501st member (hopefully done building in the next month). I'm also an alumni of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity (I'm in my 40s now) but I write articles for the fraternity magazine from time to time. I suggested that the magazine profile members of the fraternity who are in the 501st to highlight the organization and talk about the volunteer and charity work the 501st does. If you are or if you know of any members of the 501st who are also brothers of Delta Tau Delta, please let me know. Thanks, Jeff
  7. I'm going to have to use 2" cover strips in the back and trim the back top of thigh (under my butt) to get them to sit and fit correctly. I could taper the rear cover strips maybe to close the armor near the knee better if that is best.
  8. I'm going to go ahead and trim and glue the fronts and post some pics of how they sit.
  9. Test fit of my ATA thighs shows that the bottom of the thigh armor sits mid knee cap. I think the problem is that the upper rear of the thigh hits my butt. Should I try to trim the upper rear of the thigh to allow it to move up a bit? My concern is that if I do this the front peaks of the thigh will then be too high and I'll have to try to tim and shape them as well. I haven't trimmed or glued the thighs yet, this is a test fit putting them together with tape.
  10. Thanks. I can print the picture to scale and cut one out of a few layers of styrene...
  11. If someone has an unassembled Doopy kit could you post a top view of the trigger with a ruler in the picture for me? During all of the painting and assembly I've lost the trigger for my kit and am going to have to make one... Thanks
  12. It's been about 5 weeks since my last email so I'll hit him up. Thanks.
  13. I've been on the list since end of April and don't want to harass him about it. Just wondering if anyone has received an order and how long they were on the list. The waiting is the hardest part.
  14. Does anyone have any info on MEPD.net? I keep getting error messages and was wondering if anyone knows when it may be back up and running.
  15. I picked one of these up. Pretty easy to put together. If you don't solder stuff - youtube a few tips. It took about an hour to put together and works really well. I've got fans and batteries in the tubes of my helmet already so I'm not 100% how I'll set this up in the helmet. I may wire the mics behind the brow trim and then have the actual project box behind my chest plate - not sure yet...
  16. Awesome - thanks guys. Those pictures and measurements help a lot. I should be able to make some progress this weekend.
  17. I'm working on my ATA Helmet right now. Can someone who has an ATA helmet measure the rough distance from side to side and from front to back of the opening at the bottom of the helmet and post it here? I want to be sure that I'm not pushing the face too far into the cap. Thanks
  18. I'm well into my Sandtrooper build. Blaster is complete, backpack is almost complete, Helmet is well underway... I can't get armor until November. I'm on the waiting list for ATA armor... I've ordered or am ordering most of the other stuff I'll need (undersuit, balaclava, gloves, boots, etc...) What busy work can I be doing in preparation for the armor? Should I start assembling snaps and straps? If so, does this thread pretty much cover how many I'll need? http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/24487-diagram-of-snap-placement/ Any other busy work suggestions are appreciated.
  19. I'm using black 1/4" inside diameter 1/2" Outside diameter fuel line from Lowes. It was on the plumbing aisle. The writing on the site came right off with a little acetone - no sanding required. Its a satin black and I'll glue the ends together using 1/4" dowel rods cut into short sections.
  20. If you find black tubing it usually has writing on it but I think it can be sanded off. Lightly sand the entire tube and you'll get a flat finish. I think this is what I'm going to try.
  21. Its Vinyl tubing similar to this. Its still tacky and will smear off if you press and rub hard. I had sanded the tube to rough it up but something in the material is keeping the paint from curing.
