  2. On alot of the pics you can see a small warp on the left eye as your looking at the lid, is that acceptable?

Yes indeed! In fact, the 'eye' bump is often included in many helmets that you can get. While it came from a fault during the manufacture, it has now become part of the 'stunt' look, so if you're doing a Stunt Trooper, be sure to leave it there! The face just looks *weird* without it!

  3. Hi all, I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I'm not trying to be controversial or start any trouble by posting this...

I plan to go for Centurion status in Feb when my new TK Stunt arrives, but the only thing I have an issue with is the boot criteria:

    "Boots shall be lightly scuffed."

I want my TK to be 'factory fresh' as far as possible ( I don't mind weathering the blaster, as it's a prop and looks less like a toy if weathered), and I don't want to have to scuff up a brand new pair of TK Boots.

I know that Tantive IV troopers have scuffed boots, and that's probably where the rule came from, but the only reason they were scuffed was because they were wearing black jodphurs that had been painted white. Numerous takes would naturally scuff up the boots. Had white leather boots been available at the time, I'm sure they would've been used on all troopers and less scuffing would be shown on screen.

I just think that a trooper that is clean all over shouldn't be forced to wear scuffed boots that don't match his otherwise spotless armour.

I'm fully aware that there is a constant dichotomy between 'real' stormtroopers' and 'on screen' stormtroopers, and it's for us to decide whether we want to look like a soldier of the Empire (as if it were real) and an actor from Elstree in 1976. Although I like both disciplines, I would prefer to go with factory fresh shiny TK, as the 'Elstree '76' look with chipped HDPE lid etc., doesn't appeal to me as much, though I do applaud those troops who go the whole hog.

With that in mind, can you please tell me if I could attain Centurion status with clean boots? If so, could the requirement be amended for other troops who want to present a 'clean' look?

    Something like:

"Boots can either be clean for 'parade' look, or lightly scuffed for battle-worn look."

I'm sure that within a matter of troops, the boots will naturally become scuffed, but to insist on it for Centurion status is (imho) a little too extreme.

    Is this a fair request?

  4. HI all,

Terry here aka TK / TB 2135 UKGarrison. Also founder member of the 'Save The Lars Homestead' Campaign (www.savelars.com)

I'm re-introducing myself as I plan to start from 'scratch' as it were, and go for EIB status with a new TK ANH Stunt.

My history with the white armour...

2008 - got a TK - achieved 'elite' (now EIB) status.

Sold suit minus lid to Shivy (UKG) to help him with his first foray into the UKG.

Became TB (Biker Scout) for about a year.

Bought new TK armour - trimmed and detailed up with AP lid to be TK Commander.

Had to sell BOTH kits due to lack of work/money.

2011: Started a new costume. Controversial decision, which led to problems. Offered resignation to UKG. Took time out. (The CO rather kindly refused to accept my resignation - for which I thank him for kepping faith in me and keeping the door open to return.)

The 'other costume' that I am pursuing will definitely continue but it will never be used for 501st, RL or UKG events. I will keep that as a private and independent venture, but never profit-making in any way.

My loyalty is to Star Wars, the CO, and to the under-staffed Wales area. As a TK I can still do some good with the minimum of trouble.

So next year, it will be smiley-sw013.gif time again. Merry Christmas and thank you to the members who have been good to me this past year.

  5. Okay, so now people are saying the blue stripr angles off to the right once it passes the brow trim, and the end of the stripe goes into the Hovi well?

Can we get some official decision on these aspects please?

I just painted my helmet and really don't see this as good news... <:(

  6. Some guidance please!

I read in the CRL that the belt corners should be left as right angles (CENTURION REQUIREMENT)

Not cut off at 45 degrees as in ANH.

Mine are ANH style. Is this ok for TK Commander?

As for handplates, There's a TK Commander 4" figure I've seen with BLUE handplates. (see links below)

    Which should I do, please?

Long story, but I ended up buying a new set of TK armor and wanted to do something with the old set. Going dirty was an option but decided to do TK Commander! I'm almost done masking taping and will take more pictures, but decided to do a little test on weathering methods. I will also do some post painting scratching but wanted so chip looking parts. Have to admit I don't actually like any of them but think I like the toothpaste best. Hoping to paint tomorrow!

I'm using PVA glue to get the chip effect. Very happy with it so far...

  8. I might've said this elsewhere, but the EASIEST by far, and non-permanent weathering can be done with a black Chinagraph pencil.

Simply scribble a little on, and rub with a finger until you're happy. It can be wiped off at any time if you like.

I've done it to my Biker and it looks great. Will be doing it to my TK Commander soon.

  9. Welcome back. :)

Be sure to check out the new costume requirements before you sfart your build - Centurion in particular.

    Thanks for the welcome people!!

I get the feeling I might not make Centurion, as I'll probably still need to shim my abs, and I don't have the funds for a resin or pipe E11 at present.. Also, there isn't a Centurion status for the TK COmmander, is there?

  10. Hi guys and gals, I thought I'd say hello again, after a 2 year absence.

I was TK 2135 (EIB) for a year, when I got cleared in the UKG back in 2008. Trooped for about a year then had to sell my armour (not the lid or blaster), due to lack of money.

I since hold TB-2135 as a Biker Scout now, and I've trooped with it for about half a year.

I have missed the FISD and the TK armour, so I'm happy to say I've ordered a new TK kit to complete my new trooper. My bucket will be my original AP and for now at least, a modded hasbro E-11.

I'm pretty certain that I'm going to go Stormtrooper Commander this time, as there are a lot of plain white TK's here in the UK and a commander or two (we have one already) might help vary it a bit. all depends on if I can force myself to paint and weather a nice white trooper!

See you on the boards at some point for my build thread!

    Cheers,

Terry Cooper, aka rapstertee, UK Garrison TB 2135

  11. Hi guys and gals,

As you might remember, I was forced to sell my first TK kit (AP) about a year ago. Sad to see it go, but it became the first armour for a new UKG trooper, so it went to a good home. I've since spent the last year putting together a BIker, which is now cleared (TB-2135).

I still miss my TK though.

I still have my E11 and AP bucket which are fine, but I need the rest. Now, although I'd love me a set of TM, theres no way I can afford it. All I really want is wht used to be called an FX-Lite kit. A nrewly-cleared TK in the UK has told me of a place to get such a kit at under £275. (armour only, no lid or boots)

But - is there another option that is more accurate for the same price? Or same (FX quality) quality for a better price?

Bear in mind I'm in the UK.

I could do with some options and prices, if anyone can advise. I remember the FISD was the most helpful site I've ever joined. I hope this is still the case!

    Cheers

    Terry

  12. I've just returned from an amazing 10 day trip to the Star Wars locations in Tunisia.

One of my co-pioneers out there is TK 6682 - a member of the South California Garrison - he took his sandtrooper kit (ATA) out and trooped it at most of the locations - to the bewilderment of many tourists and Tunisian locals.

I believe he's the first person to do this. I'm currently nominating him for 501st trooper of the month.

Then when we got to the Hotel Sidi Driss (Lars Homestead), I got the opportunity to suit up and get a LOT of pics taken, which has got to be a first for a UKG trooper, surely?

I'd like to thank 'Doc' as he was kind enough to let me don the kit as we're the same size, which I hope qualifies me for the first UKG trooper to appear in armour at the Sidi Driss location.
