Thanks for the side by side. I thought they were much more similar since they have common roots. But I guess not.
I may consider building an ATA helmet to see if it gives me some more distance between the lower "chin" and my chest piece.I'm vertically challenged compared to most of my other local TK peers and having a neck that is shorter than most creates a small chin gap making it more difficult to look downward.

Looks like you just snipped off the ear bud part?
Here's the link for those who are intetested.

Almost makes me want to buy another one to build! These changes addressed a lot of the areas I had challenges with. This kit should come together much easier now.
While you are making adjustments to the helmet, how about extending left lower cheek tube area of the face plate? The current set up doesn't allow much room for error when setting up for a low brow.

Thanks for sharing HansDC. Please post a link to the throat mic you chose so that our readers can have an idea of what may work for them too.
ADAM!
I watched your youtube after weeks of trying all sorts of sound fx/amplifier techniques.
Ended up with a go-pro chest mount with a modified adapter screwed into the AKER and and i-Comm velcro-ed to it.
Bought a cheap one-way throat mic and everything works like a charm! No feedback whatsoever and have tried it with full armour on.
Here is a pic. I can do a vid too if anyone is interested.
Thanks for the inspiration!

Looks great! Just some minor adjustments or new straps and it will be EIB ready too...for basic I would say you are pretty much there.
I had the same lateral centering problem with the Back to Kidney alignment. I had to remove and remount the snap plates on mine to shift the Back plate more visually centered.
In your case the only way you can close the Back/Kidney gap is to raise the Butt/Kidney up slightly and lengthen the shoulder strapping to allow the Back to drop down a little too. The added benefit will to allow the Chest to drop as well.
May I suggest to lower your thighs, it should close up the knee gaps more.
Keep us in the loop.

Thanks for sharing Kevin! Good to know members are finding success and another option for microphones. Any problems with finding the "sweet spot" for sound pick up? How about feedback when leaning forward, assuming your amp is mounted behind the chest armor.
What is your set up?

Hi Matthew,
You can PM TM via his member profile. www.whitearmor.net/forum/user/76-troopermaster/
Who might I contact to look into obtaining the TM armor? Been searching around, haven't found anything yet.

Hi John,
You helmet looks great! Ears are a challenge for sure but as far if they need to be trimmed more, I would say it's a personal preference. For basic 501st requirements you should be fine.
The movie suits were all over the place when you look closely at the ears.
If this was mine, I would take them down a little.
Have a great New Years!

Almost there....
There wasn't a view from the back but from my experience with upper body fitment when building my MTK, may I suggest the following:
lengthen the elastic shoulder bridge straps to allow the chest piece to come down a litle. Then tighten up the chest to ab straps so the overlap will not open as easily.
Would you be able to drop the thighs down a little as well? Since you are a lot taller than me, this will give you more flexibility in the thighs to lower ab/cod area. As long as you are not binding behind the knees you may even find you could almost squat.
Agreed with Steve on the drop box strap length. Should only have about an 1/8" of a gap between the top of the drop box and the bottom of the belt. If you riveted the straps then you may have to drill out the rivet and remount.
Yes, the front of the ammo belt should sit a little higher. The top of the belt should align with the bottom of the lowest painted button or slightly covering it.
Question. What kind of under suit are you wearing? It looks like a fitted cold weather type but not a compression.
Remember, we all been where you are and it will only be a matter of time before you are ready to apply for your TK ID. Build with EIB or Centurion in mind and the rest will be simple.
Have a great New Years!

Tony, are you wearing ear bud headphones for the hearing amp?
Have you considered this made for motorcycle helmets that integrate the mic and headphones?

Don't worry about showing your first fitting. This is the only way we can help with recommendations. My guess on your chest to ab plate overlap could be attributed to your shoulder strap length and possibly back to kidney plate strapping as well.

I too thought the left bicep was out of shape. You may want to check out what I did on my build to address that left bicep. The link is underneath my signature, know me if you have any questions.

This was from a Star Wars themed wedding where Yoda officiated the ceremony and Vader walked the bride down the aisle. We were waiting for the bride to arrive here. I am the... yes... the short stormtrooper. Oh wait! There's two short stormtroopers in this picture. (Thank you, Adam.) How nice. I'm the short one on the left.
United Airlines employee day. Second trooper in from the left.
United Airlines day was so incredible. Adam (toybiz) and I ended up getting grabbed and pulled onto the tarmac by the ground crew. We were asked to walk in front of the crowd just as the "Patriot" planes were taking off to go join the Blue Angels in San Francisco. The rest of our garrison had either gone to lunch, or left early, or was elsewhere taking pictures. It was just being in the right place at the right time that we were standing there just at the moment when the planes were taking off and suddenly they decided it would be cool to have stormtroopers as part of the action. So fun to walk in front of the big crowd. Not sure if any of them were even watching us since the planes started taking off, but hey, we looked good.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRJ9bmaFm_E&feature=youtu.be
And, then, Adam and I stood on the tarmac for... what was it, Adam? Probably two hours. We estimated we took at least 300 photos with people. We had to split up into two teams because there were so many people wanting to take pictures with us. By the time we left, I was starving. (Trooping always makes me hungry.) It was like 3:30 PM and I really really wanted lunch. But, as we tried to work our way back to the changing area, people kept stopping us for more pictures. United AIrlines has about 10,000 employees at that site and it felt like we took a picture with every one of them. Oh, and it was hot that day. Turned out to be one of the hottest troops I did all summer. Since when does it get hot in San Francisco? I wouldn't have made it without both fans running in my helmet. Good thing I put in fresh batteries before the troop. If one of them had gone down, I would have been down on the tarmac passed out.
Truth!
Finding a hobby that a person can be passionate about and finding others that share that same enthusiasm, is very rare indeed. IMO, what's unique about "Bad Guys doing Good" is how we all come together from very different walks of life, different experiences, and yet we find a common bond, a goal larger than all of us put together. - This is a true definition of the Force. ("its in you, me...it binds the galaxy together..." )
Nothing feels closer to being a Rock Star than when in character. People need and want us there to help, a calling bigger than any of us.
You are welcome Diana! It helps for us to be vertically symmetrical, this helps our Vader look taller!
Here Diana (right side of the photo) and I are flanking Lord Vader at one of the most unique weddings I ever attended...
Vader did give away the bride and...
Yes, Yoda did officiate the wedding...
United Airlines Family Day was a lot of fun. Diana, yes it was about 1 1/2 hours making our way to the fence where the jets were parked and 2 hours on the tarmac taking at least 300 photos, but hey look at the kind of photos they were getting...
It was the 30 minute trip back to the staging area that I thought was most tiring...I don't think we could have walked more than 20 feet at a time without being asked to have pictures taken. We were hot (temps in the '90s), sweaty, tired, hungry and I didn't know about you but my feet hurt. But hey, we were there for the fans of Star Wars right?
Didn't mean to thread jack, but glad to have made your friendship and look forward to our next troop!

Welcome to the MTK family Brian!
I haven't seen the revised one up close but when you are ready, please share some detailed shots of your armor.
Have you noticed the left bicep being larger than the right and the right forearm larger than the left?

Hey Diana,
I think I have a solution to getting your husband to join the 501st! It combines what he loves and what you love!
Scuba Clone Trooper!
I know it may not be the most common but that's the beauty of it! How many will we ever see?

Congratulations Scott! Job well done!

You can repair it! That's beauty of plastic. Just get through the rest of your build and then go back over the details. Soon you'll be trooping!

Welcome aboard Sano! Be sure to share of your findings when it comes time for a SW7 TK. Many will eagerly watching for sure!

Love it!
Keeping an open mind...what's new is new. What's old is well....vintage!
Remember there is a whole new generation that has different expectations of that is Star Wars... Some will like the the originals and there will be those who will embrace the new with open arms. I will be one of those even though I saw the originals in '77...

Welcome John to FISD! I'm also in the GGG there is a night lighting parade this Friday in Fremont and should be high attendance with the Garrison.
If not, hope to see you at a future troop!

Welcome to FISD and glad to see another MTK build! How long was the wait/ship time?
Great that you have a strong, active Garrison in So Cali that can help you, but I would recommend taking your time and learning the path on your own and get help when or if you get stuck. Remember we all started our journey with the first cut and most of us will tell you that it was an experience worth going through. Like learning a new skill, once the challenge is behind you...its like riding a bike. A skill that lasts a lifetime.
I took over four months over many nights and weekends that felt like there was no end in sight... But soon you'll be fitting and strapping, then on the home stretch to getting your basic approval. We'll be here to help but the secret is research and reading other's builds.

Question...how flexible is the back support belt to thigh support? Any armor bites?

Welcome Sam to the place where the obsession all begins!
Be sure to look up your local garrison, Central California Garrison. They are a very friendly bunch as everyone is here too!
