Helmet complete and ready for submission?? (I am waiting for a new rubber seal to come in the mail)
-
Thanks for the tips guys. We've been able to correct everything. Our major problem is the knee plate getting stuck under the thigh when I walk, any tips or pics would be greatly appreciated.
-
Thanks guys, one step forward, two steps back

Do i need to cut out another hole before I paint the last tooth on either side? Or just paint the extreme corners and leave the white plastic between the last teeth and the ones I need to paint in?
-
Anyone know a good way to totally remove paint? Paint thinner? Magic eraser and goo b gone? The black outlines on the vents came through a bit thicker than I want, and I think it would be easier to start the tube stripes on the right from scratch instead of trying to clean them up.

As many times as I read those guidelines, I can't believe I missed this. Thanks guys.

Looks like my mistake. I thought for sure I saw some of the centurian submissions using the bubble lenses. Now I can't find them. Can anyone chime in and let me know if this needs to be corrected?

Ouch, I guess I'm much further away than I thought. Thanks for the input. I used testers 1747 for the black, and testers 2715 for the blue (same color as the buttons on the ab plate). There are 11 stripes, per the costume reference library on this site, it says 9-16 per side are acceptable (is that not true?). The cap does straighten out when we add the rubber trim. Not really sure what you mean by "the teeth need more of a point to them".

Helmet hand painting - we need to do a few more vents, and some touch ups. Also have to wait for a new rubber seal for the bottom of the helmet because we miscut it. Then we should be ready for submission. Before Teeth Grey on the left Grey on the back Grey on the right Vocoder Tube stripe template Tube stripes on the right Tube stripes on the left dripped, we're going to try to clean up with a little paint thinner - May try to remove them all and repaint Front view

Test fitting - I have to do somthing to keep the shin with the knee plate straight. Comments welcomed.

Is there a tester paint number for the white to paint the ear screws? -
Thanks, I'll check it out. Is there a specific testers paint to paint the ear screws?

Notching of the face plate to fit the dome Did 2 rivets on the side to help bring the face plate in Then on to the #%#@$^ ears. We spent over an hour shaping and measuring the left ear. Then attataching it...I wanted to get it up to the brow trim and perfectly flush, but there was just no way to do that with this NE kit. I'm still very happy with how it turned out. We started trimming the second ear which was going much quicker - but we ran out of time. Won't be able to get back on it until next Tuesday. Should be able to attach the ear and paint the base layers of the paint. We did miscut the trim for the bottom of the neck - I'm hoping to go into a local store and pick up another piece. If anyone knows what to specifically ask for (36" long rubber S-Trim??), or where to go to get it, please post. Thanks.

Hot glued in the green lenses Installed the mic tips Tomorrow night we tackle the ears and painting of the tubestripes and the grey areas. Wish me luck!!

So I wound up getting a replacement back piece of the helmet. Took the helmet apart and re attached the new piece. Does anyone have any pictures of an NE helmet from the side before and after the ears are attached? I'm trying to figure out how to trim the sides of the back piece. Right now we have it trimmed straight down, but I'm sure it needs to be trimmed at some sort of angle. There doesn't seem to be enough room for the tube stripes.
-
We were able to trim the forearms and glue. Took our time, but no major issues.
-
Mine wasn't even close, I had to trim some of my NE helmet from the back. I'll probably trim from under the chin as well.

TD glued and clips from evilboy attached Back glued to dome (left side) and right side - as you can see we over trimmed here. Left side rivetted Ok, we glued some plastic to the inside - I know this isn't pretty now, but once we shape and attach the ears, we'll be able to hide the whole thing hopefully. TupperwareTK is currently checking to see if he can get me just the back piece in case we can't make it work. I am open to suggestions if anyone has any. Need a few touchups after paint cures, but not bad at all (french blue testors 2715 and testor grey 1138) Tried one freehand then decided to build a painters tape template finished pending touchups Also finished the belt and painting the hovi tips (pictures to follow) Hopefully someone else can learn from our helmet trimming mistake. Still feels like we're far from done. Probably won't get on it for at least a week. I remember seeing some pictures of some black padding someone added to the inside of their helmet. It looked like it would be more comfortable than the hard hat liner. If anyone has any info on that method, please post. Thanks,

TK Boots - even though his site says he has none for sale, email him. He has a few pairs on hand.

Here's my progress from Saturday's session... Back of the shin with velcro attachment Shoulders and biceps Complete Arms Right Thigh - Rivetted (I loved using the rivetter) Rivetted holster to belt (belt by TKittel and Holster by Darman) We had the knee plate glued, but it was getting in the way of the thigh so we're going to have to rework it. I went with industrial strength velcro for internal strapping. I know snaps are much more popular - I'm just finding vecro easier to work with and adjust. Plus will be easier to repair during a troop. Here's an overall pic My advisor's comments were as follows 1. Bring chest down over the ab section 2. Lower calves and bring thighs down - I'm hoping this helps with the knee plate issue 3. Switch my shoulder bells 4. Adjust the butt plate - we are having a hard time curving this to fit - we'll be trying some heat Evilboy just shipped the TD clips today, once they come in I'm down to completeing the belt and on to the lid.

Thanks to everyone for their help so far. Still looking for a picture of a 3 peice helmet. Specifically what the join looks like in the back.
-
Can anyone tell me what these are?
-
2 more quick questions. I hope to get a good chunk done on Sunday. 1. I haven't seen many builds for the 3 piece helmet. Does anyone have any pics? I'd like to see the back piece attached to the dome specifically. 2. Do I have to use snaps and elastic on the interior of the torso parts? Can I possibly use industrial velcro to hold everything together. My reasoning being that velcro will give me more room for adjustments for fitting. Plus it will be easier to fix velcro during a troop if necesarry. Thanks to everyone for the help so far.

I don't think my question was clear. I am going to be handpainting, but the link I posted showed two different types of templates - one called handpainted - the other called idealized. Is one prefered over the other for ANH Stunt. @piklz36 - great helmet thread. - thanks.
-
Tube stripes - idealized or hand painted for ANH stunt lid? I'm having templates made per Panda's thread http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/14867-tube-stripe-masking-templates/
