Anthony: Did you brush the paint onto the frown? I got the Testor spray, but I"m thinking I'll just brush everything, more control. Looks great and I know who you feel, got the cracking on the underside by the vocoder when I did my second coat last night - argh!

Yah, got mine there as well, but it was double boxed. The original MR display box and a nice shipping box. Might have been messed up in delivery and they (USPS) didn't rebox it. Mine came over the border and it was in great condition.

I am gluing a piece of ABS to the inner part of the belt so I can rivet the holster to it directly. I was going to try and stay away from snaps for this particular application. I am constantly putting my E-11 into my holster at events and I want the holster to still have its load bearing capabilities. I think snaps might not work as well and might come undone with my E-11 constantly being taken and put back in.
Sorry misunderstood. Thought you meant attaching the canvas belt to the front ammo box ABS belt.

Nice. Used model engine parts?

You know what I did for my canvas belt...I'll tell yah . Painters grade drop clothes (Home Depot...Lowes). Cut it to length and folded it about 3-4 times and bleached it. Came out nice and white. Just have to sew the seams and I'm done.
As for gluing it, why not use the snap system? Just a thought...
Cheers...

Did it last night. Glued the fronts down and let the backs just lie there. They sit perfectly flat without any need for velco. Thanks all for the input.

I was actually thinking about the same thing a few days ago. To have some type of mic system setup to pickup outside noise. But then I thought that it would be picked up by my mic I use for speaking. Anyway, good idea to ponder.
As for the frown. That's cool. Did you put screening in it, or just left the slots? I'm always thinking about what the technology was meant for and how to make it more technologically accurate (more so than movie accurate). Good job!

So ultimately, there isn't a /right/ way of putting them on (ie affect elite status if I did it wrong). Just paranoid, what it to look good and movie correct.
Thanks for the replies!

You can always look through the elite apps. That should give you some ideas.
True enough. Had a look, got a pretty good idea, just wanted to hear it from the horses mouth
Will continue it tonight...

I got the snap & nylon straps on the underside of my chest and back plates done last night watching hockey (good game!). Anyway. I was about to attach the shoulder straps, but decided I should ask and see where they should go exactly. I'm thinking that the front shouldn't be push to far forward, but want to be certain. I will be welding the front on and using velco on the back, so I want to make sure I get this right the first time around.
If anyone can post a picture of their's so I can have a look...??
thanks!

OK, I actually have a dumb question as well...why does eveyone seem to paint the inside of their helmet black ?
Style man...style. No, from what I understand its because some lens will still show the eyes when photos are taken. So with a darken inside it should prevent some of that. Personally, I have darker lens and a black interior.

Looks good. You used the Krylon Gloss White? Do you have FX armour? If so, can you put the two together and see what the colour match is like. I'm thinking that the Satin WHite might be a better match.
Painting mine this weekend once I figure out which paint to use.

I've got the Trik Toys static burst module. You'll need a separate amp for it and a powered mic. PM me and I'll send you links to what I used. I'm at work and I don't have the brands. Played with it last night and works like a charm. There are three settings, and all work as advertised. Nice compact board and runs off a 9v. I'm going to post pics once I have my sound system setup, still working on my helmet (paint).
I would have prefered a click sound, but the static burst sounds good as well.
My 2 cents.

I'm just in the process of painting the inside of my bucket and then on to priming the outside. However, after looking at some pics of TKs going for their ELITE status with MRCE lids, I'm wondering about colour matching.
I'm obviously going to be painting mine. Originally I was going to go with a Krylon Gloss White, however now I'm thinking that maybe I should go with the Satin White. If the cap is any indication of the dried colour, I think the Satin may be a more accurrate match with my FX. The Satin seems more of a cream colour, similar to how my armour looks (in my opinion). Because it sure isn't a pure white as the Gloss seems to be.
So I have a question for everyone. Has anyone used the Krylon Satin White and how does it match with your current armour? Any other paint products out there which might serve better?
I'll ultimately find out this weekend when I paint it. And if it doesn't match I'll try something else.
Thanks..

What's the placement? Just below the middle knuckle? Can someone post a picture to give me an idea? This is how I have it. The gloves I've got has an inch and a half band, I've placed the plate just at that point.
Does it really matter so long as its comfortable for me???
Thanks..

Thanks. I'm going to try this plastics place around me and get the Novus kit. Hopefully it works, was a little ticked at myself for rushing into sanding the one edge (wrong edge) before re-checking it.
Goes to show....check 3 times, glue once. Doh.
Thanks again.

Did my calf pieces and got some glue on the top ridge. What can I use to clean it up? Also, how good is the Novus heavy scratch remover at removing sandpaper scratches? Accidently sanded the wrong side and have some scratches, not too deep, but its scuffed up. Will the HD Novus polish clean this up?
Thanks...

Update.
I asked around and a friend recommended magnets. We picked up some small button-sized magnets in the craft section of Wal-Mart. I've done the left thigh, and I think that the longer front seam came out really good.
Used this method..BRILLANT! Used three and it kept the creases down and tight!

Was thinking about changing out the ears as well. Just finished using bondo on them (ear cap seams). Letting it dry now, so tomorrow I'll sand and see how it turns out. I'll post some pics in my thread when I've done that. Damn, bondo really stinks!
yours is looking god man. i have been lazy and haven't worked on it since the last update. I am waiting till some of my parts arriveright now i am waiting for the decals, the rubber brow trim, rubber neck trim, and the accurate ears. these all should be here hopefully sometime next week.
I have yet to pay for the aerators from Stomper, just waiting for him to pm me with the payment info.
i may work on it some today.. i am not sure yet. i hate sanding and that is all that needs to be done as of right now. lol
blah
sand and fill sand and fill sand sand and sand some more, then prime then sand and fill again
it is monotonous.

Instead of riveting it, would using Plastic weld be enough for the ABS stoppers? Otherwise, looks good. Might just do this mod!

Answered my question. Gloss white it is. Looks real nice..good job! Now I just need to finish mine off.

Okay. Did the brow trim mod. I did it with the lid still attached, wasn't too difficult, just need a nice sharp blade and a steel ruler to fit under the lid so as to not score the plastic beneath.
I taped it off with painters tape. I thought it would be easier to apply and reapply to get the line how I liked it. Then scored it and then applied more pressure (with ruler underneath) until the blade went clean through. Sanded the edges and put the brow back on to test fit. Looks good I think.
A nice sand of the whole bucket and I think I'll be ready for primer.
Question. What colour of white is everyone using? I know that Krylon Fusion has two whites - gloss white and satin. Which would match the FX armour more? Mine seems to be a bit dull..that's my only dilemma.
Don't know if you can tell, but I have drilled out and filed the fourth tooth. Just need to widen it a bit and I'm done that. Look pretty good I think...

I keep thinking I'll trim the brow, but I don't know now. I think it looks meaner and I was watching ESB yesterday with the kids and I saw a couple TKs with the Hero brow (I think I did anyway). So I may just leave it.
EDIT: Okay, I lied. I cut it. Wasn't that hard, just took my time and used a metal ruler underneathe so that I wouldn't score the plastic behind. I might have to cut a little more in the middle section, but otherwise looks okay.
-
You cut the brow without taking it apart? How did you find that, difficult? What did you use?
I don't want to completely take it a part if I can avoid it, so if you were able to cut the brow without much trouble maybe I'll tackle that this weekend.
Cheers.

Fusion is a low lustre. If you want super glossy, you'll need to do a clear coat and buff it out.
