I was following some links pointing to the "reputable dealer" threads and was getting a bunch of "not founds." I kept digging and I was finding cryptic messages like "you just gotta know somebody" etc. Maybe I was just seeing what I wanted to read, but 2 of my friends mentioned it, too. Okay... (cough).... I'll move along then.............

About six months ago I came on these very boards and found a lot of interesting and helpful threads that showed you vetted sources and contact information for people who manufacture and sell armor. Now I come back on the board and it seems like that those same threads are gone. Everyone is kind of working undercover. I see references to people's initials and no clear-cut way to contact anyone. Did something happen? I might have missed something as far as… Well anything. I only ask because I got an email from somebody looking to buy armor and I went to reference the thread I bookmarked and it was gone. Can somebody fill me in? I don't want to get anyone in trouble for passing a contact along.........

Okay, I'm trying to tape off my ATA helmet to paint it and that green Frog tape is USELESS. I'm not sure if it's because I'm a greasy Italian or I don't know how to work tape, but you stick it on, it pops up again. I've found that plain masking tape works just fine. I've got a roll that was in the back of a drawer since the Carter administration and it worked FINE with no peelage and no bleeding. Grrr... sorry... had to vent.

I got an ATA helmet to work with and have been piecing it together slowly. It's been a learning experience since this is my first experience using a lot of these tools, but luckily, the good guy sent me two sets of "ears."

Which model Airsoft do you use? I looked at their web site and there are literally 25 pages of similar looking weapons.

If this was a "speed" build, I'd like to see what you could if you took your time. Sweet MARIA....

Can I just throw some love to the "vetted" vendors that are posted on this forum? I emailed most of them, asked a bunch of stupid questions that I am sure that they answered 5,300,322,021 times beforehand, and they did it within 24 hours. Who said the Empire was evil?

I sent like 5 emails to some of the approved and recommended providers, but I have yet to get a response.

So I decided to give this Stormtrooper build a go. It seems like fun. After looking at all the permutations of TKs I've decided to go with the Incinerator Trooper for two reasons: 1) it's not common and 2) if I get bored or fail miserably, I'll have a cool red-highlighted helmet to wear to the Buccaneers games here in Tampa. To make sure that I'm not in over my head, I'm going to start with the helmet and work my way down, but I need a little guidance as far as where to start. I keep looking at the Legion's requirements for helmets and to get to the higher levels I see that eFX, MCRE, and FX helmets are not allowed. I've been scanning eBay but it seems like those are the only kits available. A few questions: Is it that they're not allowed, or do they need modifications? I'm not afraid to drill out the frown or anything like that. If they are flat-out not allowed, where do you go to get a decent helmet? I sent some emails to the "recommended" people, but no one has responded. I guess I'm just looking for Step 1.
