  1. I am still working on my suit (I just started a couple months ago) and am yet to submit for 501st but I did get my first unofficial troop in this past weekend at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Thousands come out for the Day of the Dead and they have tons of booths and live music etc. I was a little worried about showing up to an event that might be looked at more as a traditional holiday, but it's Halloween after all and all that was swept away pretty much as soon as I stepped out of the car in costume. I was mobbed continuously and took photos with at least 100 people. I started to feel bad for the group I was with because I kept holding us up from getting around. They helped out on wrangler duty and I needed it! I didn't turn down a single photo though and always tried to let the kids hold the blaster and kept it fun. The looks on the kids faces! I even had a guy ask if I was 501st and I told him I'm working on it and he said "Well I am 501st and the suit looks great!"

It was great to get some pay off for all the work I've been putting into it and I can't wait to do it again.

I still have to get my black ab buttons sorted and I've already moved my drop boxes to the sides where they should be in that one shot. Also I rent my FX helmet out as a football stadium on Sundays if anyone needs one. I know the orange pauldron is more TD but hey it was unofficial and I wanted a little color for the day!

  2. Hey Troy. Also in Los Angeles and currently trying to get an FX suit done, and just purchased MTK armor.

How far along are you? I always wanted to meet fellow troopers in the Los Angeles area.

Was hoping to get some help from any locals who know what they are doing and can help speed up my armor builds since I would love to get the ball rolling and start trooping at events etc. as soon as possible.

Anyone else from Los Angeles that would be interested in helping? Armor building party anyone?

    Hi Nate,

My suit is coming along and looking better and better. The previous owner clearly had no intention of ever getting approved, so I've had to change a few things around. I've learned a ton though over the past few weeks. I'm near Warner Bros and will shoot you a DM. Happy to help out best I can. My goal is to have my suit rocking to at least get out and about for all the Halloween stuff coming up.

  3. And I don't mean to discourage you - just want you to be prepared. Because like I said, if you do it, I want to see pics :D

No not at all! Yes I'd just love to have pix troopin at the kingdom. We'll see he's working on it now.

I wouldn't rule out the LBC trip. I definitely want to represent as much as I can this Halloween.

    Thanks!

  4. I checked the guideline and also called ahead and even though they are allowing costumes, it does look like the helmet would be a problem. Hmmm having a think now. I don't want to give up just yet. Maybe my Disney geek buddy will have an idea.

I definitely don't want to compete or get in the way of the staff troopers! I love their show there.

  5. Greetings Everyone!

Just an update that I about have my E-11 ready. I added the resin kit to it and am repainting this weekend. I've also ordered some goodies from trooperbay and he's working on a DLT-19 for me. I've set a deadline for myself of Oct 5th to be ready. A group of friends and myself are going down to Disneyland for the Halloween party and I want that to try out the suit since you can wear costumes that day. Not a bad location for a practice troop! I'll get some pix up before then and would love any advice or feedback. My girlfriend will be helping me on wrangler duty. I can't tell you guys how excited I am!

  6. Putting together my first suit now and am in the Burbank/Toluca Lake area in LA. It's an FX set and I'm putting work into it now getting it fine tuned and up to snuff.

The helmet will need to go, so I'm working on getting a better replacement. I'm also on the hunt for a DLT-19 if anyone has a lead.

I'm getting a great response from the So Cal Garrison, but just wanted to say hi to the FISD!
