    I'm planning on beginning construction of a minimag here very soon. was wondering what you used for the mid-section of the launcher, where you have the scope mounted. Is that wood pieced together in a box around the tube? Same thing for the caps on the ends of the tubes? I need to do a little browsing in the PVC section of the hardware store, but I think I can remember seeing PVC hex-shaped fitting pieces that would be great for it.

     

    Love your design! I definitely will borrow some ideas.

    I think that tomorrow and this upcoming weekend I'll head to the hardware store and see if I can get started on a minimag launcher. There are a couple fantastic builds in the weapons forums that I might borrow ideas from. After all, launcher is required for centurion is it not?

    Welcome to the Darkside!! Have you been on the Bloodfin Garison Forum yet? http://www.bloodfingarrison.com/ Get on there to and say hi, there are a lot of new Troopers there. I am about 1.5 hrs. from Indy in Wabash, but I am down there a lot. This is a great time in Indy with the Star Wars, Where Science meets Imagination Exhibit coming to the State Museum all next summer!! We will need all the Troopers we can get!

     

    I am a HWT as well and will give you all the help you want.

    Thank You very much, Mark! I will check out the Bloodfin forums ASAP. I am pretty pumped for the new exhibit coming to the museum. In fact, during a bridal show, my fiance got her picture taken with a group of 501st troopers and I think even some rebels as a promotion for the upcoming exhibit. I have some ideas of where I want to go with my HWT as far as details with weapons and backpack. I will definitely need to touch base with you from time to time to get some help. I've always wanted to troop, and I am so glad that I have finally gotten the motivation to make it a reality.

     

    I already have heard back from an armorsmith about a set, but I am going to try to hear back from a few to get my options open and not rush a purchase. But I did get my foot in the door tonight... ORANGE SHOULDER PAULDRON PURCHASED! :smiley-sw013:

    Hi AJ were you by chance at GenCon? We miht have ran into each other.

     

    Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it this year. I work in healthcare, and it's been hectic lately. I did ask one of my friends to send me pics of any 501st he saw at the con, and he sent me a pic of two TK's and a royal guard standing at a set of doors. Warmed to heart to see order being kept.

    Hey troopers,

    Just wanted to say hey and introduce myself. I am AJ and I am looking to get into trooping as a Heavy Weapons Trooper. I recently sent a few feeler emails to a couple of recommended armorsmiths to get my foot in the door for TK armor, then I plan on piecing together and making the heavy weapons and backpack gear on my own. Ultimately I want to carry a DLT-19 heavy blaster and a minimag rocket launcher while I troop, with a rocket ammo backpack. I'll have to tread lightly as I craft, however, to stay in 501st and FISD regulations. I am new to all this and have been reading these forums for a few days now, and I gotta say it's all very overwhelming, but I see that a lot of you are very helpful. Hopefully I'll get to march with some of you one day!

    Hi there!

     

    I am new here as well. I have been following the 501st's appearances at conventions and charity events for some time, and I have always thought to myself "God, I'd love to do that!" Well, I am finally going to take the plunge and get a suit of stormie armor together, and I am also just beginning. I have only a little bit of crafting experience, but I'd rather not risk screwing up my armor if I can help it, so I will look for as much help as I can get with that aspect. My passion is in building model weapons, which is why I plan on creating a HWT persona for myself with a minimag rocket launcher and a DLT-19 blaster.

    Hopefully, I can find a good suit of armor soon so that I can get closer to joining Bloodfin Garrison.
