    1. How long before or how quickly does the ABS armor yellow? i.e. will standing outside for a few hours or a day for an event turn it yellow?

    2. Can you not wear ABS Armor outside at all because of the yellowing or are you sort of confined to having to stay inside when wearing it?

    3. Is there a way to reverse the yellowing of the armor if it does happen?

    4. PVC looks really shiny but is it a better investment than ABS?

1: The RS ABS will go yellow sat in a box without sunlight.

    2: See number 1.

3: There's a few helpful threads on this very forum where this is discussed.

4: I wish you good luck in your choice, as long as your happy with your purchase that's all that counts. B)

  2. Hi Ian,

Some of the "larger companies" may have contracts with the shipping company's and the cost may be way way lower than what's already quoted? hopefully!

In my brief experience, shipping rom the UK was usually generally lower than items received from the states, however depending on which US based currier the vendor chose to use!

Also when I was living up in FNQ a few yrs back, I recall kit was being pulled within and advertised inside AU, Maybe someone more local to you has more knowledge of those specifics?

Didn't GF also tread the boards over the rpf not long back? I'd be keen to see how this kit looks today, one of the RS kits I've got is starting to look like a banana & it isn't any way near as old as this GF!

hope its cool to add the Hx link?

I also second Deatrin's comment B) maybe back then it was easy to tell?

Three TKs with vader sounds amazing to have in a collection! :dancing-trooper: It is super ambitious and I love it!!! :icon_bow:

Yip that it is :D Whilst overseas I worked out how too and made 3 "posed display mannequins" all in a slightly different pose, in prep for the display that I have in my head lol

They were free standing, self balanced, super light where they needed to be & made from paper and cost less than $30nzd each, I left 1 behind and binned the other two, figuring their cheap to make, but crieky have costs in the UK gone up since I left.    :glare:  when I move again?? I plan on remaking them, so might put up a how too thread if folks are interested?

When you say "adding to my TK collection" do you mean that you want to become a Stormtrooper or like, armor for display purposes? :smiley-sw013:

lol good Q: I have three TKs left & AFAIR 6/7? lids, sadly they've been in storage a while now :( .  I suppose I'd like to sell on one of the the RS kits and maybe get a another TM again?

So...... possibly become a Stormtrooper in the future when I get settled and get everything back & then back onto the three TK display with Vader, like my original plan that I always wanted :D

Just a heads up: Imgur changed its ToS and isn't usable as a reliable long-term hoster due to that. We need to give a new recommendation on a reliable imagehost now to avoid getting photobucketed again.

For current images: they should end up on archive.org (there is a group of archivists which hunts endangered data and currently works on archiving as much imgur as they can find, they got the URLs from here) so we don't end up with a full loss like with the old photobucket deletion.

Great catch and Thanks for the update Tom,

I have only just loaded pics onto Imgur yesterday and was planning on uploading a heap more, it was to become my new hosting platform and you've saved me a lot of wasted time today :th_AnimatedBravoSmiley:

  7. Thanks for the welcome guys :), hopefully I'll only add to the beneficence of the forum and our community.

Although I do have a couple of potential future (how too) threads already in mind, aswell as the odd short run or sales thread, if folks are interested?

  8. HI all,

I wanted to return to the forum formally, now that I have returned from my OS experience & I considered it good curtesy to drop in here and say "hi yawl". :salute:

I will endeavor to read through the back posts, when I've time permitting although I have lurked on occasion over the years; so its not all fresh news. ;)

I anticipate posting up a sales thread or two (if that's still cool)? As I would like to add to my TK collection again and this incurs the selling off of some treasured items or even means making the offer of a short run of some TK related items,  this I can do, now that I have returned to the the UK without the crippling costs of the NZ/au postal service.

  9. Not for ROTJ. Most likely it was glued in place.

Btw, it's nice to have you back here Steve!

Hi Mathias, it's nice to be back :) although I was never too far away ;)

I see a lot of reference to Hook's & bar's, not much evidance of glue though, maybe a bar running through the sewn over elastic? good point BJ! the velcro maybe was one way it was added to?

any other thought's? I'm trying to finally sort out my kit ^_^

  10. Hi guy's,

I was getting my boots out of the wardrobe & yet again they need repainting/dying as the stuff keeps cracking/peeling.

Which led me to think about PAX paint, I've used it in the past on foam prosthetics with good effect but it's not cheap if it's a mix with prosaide, so I thought I'd ask if anybody here had attempted it & if so thought's on the matter. "bother? don't bother?"

I looked through the threads & could'nt find anything conclusive.

for those unfamiliar with prosaide? it's basically a surgical glue that keeps the paint it's mixed with flexible, it's expensive to waste but might be worth it if I don't have to keep spraying the boots so often.

    So Any thoughts?
