  1. I want to see that number go down for realistic reasons rather than up for imaginary ones.

Many of those TK's are way not up to standards and left in a closet of shame until gotten rid of. And when I read the previous posts I come to think there are costumes that are being counted twice after they were passed on.

Let the biker scouts play that vanity number contest ;)

  2. I cut webbing straps instead of plastic rectangles for my snap plates. More contact surface for the glue, infinite spares, no gap, flexible, compressible. I started with abs snap plate at first but then I said "oh, what the hell" and used webbing for the trunk area instead.

Spending more time on the bracket solution seems a bit too extreme to me, and not worth the sweat.

  3. Yes, static is loud. Always try the system buckets off before installing / glueing. Ask yourself "how close do I want the ME52 ideally?".

Well, very close. Depending on your head and bucket space you will have little freedom of choice. Most people have the headset mike against the lips almost. To me the top of the vocoder is too far, so I installed another place for it. Plus, decrease surface contact with the helmet to avoid vibration noise getting picked up.

Rule of thumb: if you can lick it, you got it the right place.

Also learn the frequency response of the microphone, icomm and speaker: what pitch gets through the loudest. It's not always about yelling.

I would recommended anyone using an ME52 to embrace this mounting solution ASAP because one day you will forget to unplug before removing the helmet entirely and need a glue gun when you don't have any. When I forget to unplug the mike comes off before anything breaks.

  4. I picked up this exact mic and tried it out. While it made my voice a lot louder and clearer than the mic that came with my iComm, it did have one flaw: the moment I started walking it was picking up the clacking of my armor. It also had a slight habit of picking up what some of my other troopers were saying if they got too close to me. So you may want to dampen the sound a bit if you use that particular mic.

In this pic you can see how I affixed my ME52. I've dealt a lot with microphones and noise cancelling and the idea is to have as little direct contact with the helmet as possible. Even my fan is free floating inside the helmet. There's a rubbery part on the base of the microphone, while the hard plastic capsule will pickup anything vibrating against it.

  5. *bows* I played EVE awhile. You sir are hard core assuming you are in null sec, low sec or wormholes, pirating, etc. I guess there are carebear miners or high sec roamers in game but no one ever admits it, lol. To each their own. I used to get a big cargo ship and load it up slap full of goods and run through low sec just to shave a bit of time off my route. The main reason I did it is that it was fun evading death day after day. I gave up the game after gate camping with some pirates awhile. It was fun but I really felt like it would take me years to catch up to the guys in the big corps. I found the game economy and politics facinating, just wish the game could support the massive battles in zero sec better.

We share the same experience of EVE :)

I thrived in wormhole space. I jumped in after the PI and anomaly scanning expansions. While the alliance I was in was small it was easy to manage security, but then we got bigger, war declarations every month, the morals deteriorated once we had to spread the message that we're not to be bugged with. Gate camping, personal vendettas, paying mercs... I felt it went too far and we weren't even safe in wormhole space anymore.

So now I'm an ammo supplier in Dodixie for until my capital ship skills are ready :)
