Welcome aboard.

I have imported armour to NZ and have not yet had a problem with import duty or customs "touch wood". The item description always says costume parts or something similar. I am sure if it said Stormtrooper Armour I might get lumbered with import duties though.

Welcome Scott. Great name by the way.
Good to see another trooper from Downunder joining the ranks.
Too bad about the Crusaders going down to the Reds in the Rugby on Friday night. We had a terrible game.
Scott.

I hope it was for charity. I personally dont like clips of dancing troopers.

Excellent work on your ROTJ build. I am sure you will be an inspiriation to others wanting to do the same.

Hi Jordan,
Welcome fellow kiwi.
Have you tried using this link?

The old Outpost 42 website was disbanded last year when the web master retired but now its up and running under the new site.
They are real friendly and the site isnt just limited to Star Wars Imperial costumes there are a few Jedis, Jawas, Tuskens etc.
Hope you find what you looking for.

I dont think it matters what hand you hold the blaster in. ANH and ESB seem to switch hands and in ROTJ are left handed. As long as the holster is on the correct side as in the movies.
I am a leftie and prefer holding my blaster in my left hand.

I couldnt get my birthday either so I used the year I was born 73 and put the day I was born 3rd and added another 3 so it became TK 3373.

Also regarding the thighs, for my armour I made a belt suspender system similar to what you mention using webbing material. A set of snaps on the end of straps then connect to my thighs which keep them from falling down.
Hope this helps.

This is how I attached my hand plates
By using an elastic strap with a snap to the handplate.

Wow. Just last week I had someone ask if they could rent my TK armour from me for a party. I was a little skeptical as I had spent a lot of time on my kit. I ended up saying no.
I told them it wasnt the sort of costume to be used for social gatherings.

HOLY cow, that's the SAME guy I bought my helmet from!! Got is on eBay, waited half a year for it to arrive, and when it did it came in a cardboard beer-box. It's an AP recast...
Here's mine after some work on it...

They can turn out pretty nice. I GOTTA trim out those eyes, though....
I waited half a year for mine to arrive as well, at least it seemed that long. I'm gonna trim out the right eye and replace the erators. I am not happy with the ears on mine though.
Glad to see Im not the only one.

Defo a recast , Scott did you buy it from ebay by anychance?
Yeah I got it from ebay last year. This is actually the second one he made as the first one supposedly got lost in transit between the UK and NZ.
Funny enough whilst I was waiting to get the helmet I bought an unassembled RT Mod helmet from a guy in my garrison. Which is actually the one I use when trooping as I like it better and it goes well with my FX armour.

I bought this helmet a year ago and at the time I thought it looked like an AP helmet but after looking at some recent topics I am not so sure now.
I have almost completed building just need some tube stripes and neck trim. Photos were taken earlier on in the build.
Its a pretty nice helmet and I am happy with it.
Cheers

Welcome Tom. Good to see the TK numbers from across the ditch growing in size. I am sure you will find a wealth of knowledge on this forum.

I painted the inside of my helmet because it looks cool and kind of spacey. There is also a refernce picture in the Star Wars Visual Guide of a Stormtrooper Helmet with a black lined interior.

Just like the topic says. Any of you doing any trooping this weekend? I have an event this afternoon and one tomorrow afternoon/night. Salvation Army bell ringing today and a parade tomorrow. I can't wait.
I have a Christmas parade tomorrow in Christchurch New Zealand, hoping weather isnt too hot given it is officially summer down here.

Hey Scott
Been enjoying your WIP thread on the O42 forum! How much more to be done to your costume until your finished?
Not a lot to do really. We have had a bit of welcomed rain in the past week in the south and so I used the time to really get stuck into my kit.
Done are the thighs and calves (except for the riveting of the sniper plate and thigh ammo box), forarms and biceps basically all done. Hand plates completed, separated the cod and abs, attached using industrial velcro. Made suspenders to the back and front armour out of webbing and plastic buckles. I have added a snap system to most of the armour, including a belt to hold up the thighs under my ab armour.
The only big bits to do are the connection bridges for the chest and back, attach the O2 tank to the belt, add buttons to ab plate (which are painted the correct colours) and rivet the sniper and ammo box. I may need to shim my calf armour as well. I have run out of snaps so will have to get some in the next day or two.
I am getting a new holster from the UK which is on the correct side (left handed) and eventually would like to upgrade my plastic belt to a canvas one.
Also I have ordered a ANH helmet from the UK as well, to replace my FX but this hasnt turned up as yet. This is arriving unassembled so want to have most if not all the armour done before I get stuck into this.
Will post some progress pics of my armour on OP42 in the next day or two.
Cheers
Scott
