  1. Didn't have to trim at all actually. There's not really any pinch in them unless I start forming YCMA with my arms and dancing around, so I decided to just save myself some effort. And I decided to put on my dive skin for the occasion. Give that nice black look to everything. But now that you mention it, I might ditch my pants now...
  2. Well, the holiday break from this project is over and done with, and now I'm done with the armor t-shirt, need to move on to the rest. How am I looking?
  3. All right, with my armor arrived it was time to start building. So, start I did. While wearing my new bucket. I quickly realized I couldn't see well enough out of it to do work, so I took it off again and laid out most of what I had to work with. As some of you may have heard, the calves have given me trouble already, however I set to work on the arms, As I've heard, the biceps were easy. I found the forearms were a little too tight to fit my hands through, so I decided to glue one side of the forearm and use velcro on the other. I did that, and it was pretty easy. So while everything set I made snap plates, then eventually glued them. At some future point I'll probably buy latex handplates. But for now I'm just using velcro to attach the handplates to the backs of cheap chemical gloves. More updates will come as I slowly but surely make some progress in the build. And naturally thoughts, concerns, and comments are welcome.
  4. Sorry, my camera just died on me. And yes, very beefy calves. I have a horrible time finding boots. Made my experience with WW2 Russian reenacting a real hassle. I think I can get by with a butt joint in front and a shim in back. I'm just worried about how the devil to go about making a shim, I'm rather new to this sort of thing.
  5. If only workouts would help, that baby is all muscle. My fat has a tendency to cluster right on my belly. Does anyone have a picture of a shim in the calf, so I can see what I'll be doing?
  6. All right. So I just got my RT-MOD in the mail, and now I'm poking around with the pieces, seeing how they fit together and making sure my paunch doesn't inhibit wearing it. No problems anywhere but my calves. Right here is a picture of the front taped together and the backs as close to each other as they can get. As you can see, they don't touch, least of all overlap. So what do I do with this?
  7. You may want to check Doopydoos own site as well on the offchance that their prices are cheaper there than ebay. And it is worth noting that the racing undersuit is extremely baggy in the arms.
  8. So sorry for not getting back to you on that promptly, I totally didn't notice more posts here. >.< Krylon camouflage ultra-flat black. Bonds directly to plastic.
  9. All right, Am currently wearing the new dive skin, and let me tell you, getting this thing on was tricky. And now I feel like the world's worst fetish model. I dunno how they manage to get into that latex. Anyway, where was my mind apart from the gutter? Ah yes. New fit is like a glove, and I'm totally pleased with it. I highly recommend the lycra dive skin.
  10. Sorry Ricky, too late. I ordered a dive skin yesterday. It was just too baggy at the elbows, it would have shown through. Here's what I bought now-----------
  11. I ordered my regular size, should have ordered one smaller. Sad part was it fit my slight paunch and my legs fine, it just fit my arms like a long sleeved t-shirt. No clue why people have raved about it. I'll be getting a dive skin now. And probably find some sort of use for this thing since exchanging it would out me copious amounts of cash.
  12. I'll try shrinking this thing, no sense wasting money if I don't have to. But I'll keep these suggestions in mind if that doesn't work. Edit: Actually I'll just see if I can't exchange it for a size smaller, see if that won't work.
  13. Just got one of the extreme racing undersuits I've seen recommended, and I have a question about the proper fit of an undersuit. The arms are essentially like a long sleeve t-shirt, whether this is due to my puny arms or not I'm not sure. As such, it's a bit baggy there. Does this pose a problem? Pics for good measure: ---------
  14. Well, it comes from a combination of pure personal preference (I tend to steer clear of shiny things, especially true of guns) and the selection of paints available. This flat black bonded directly to plastic, no need for primer. Also it was on sale. All good things. This stuff costs money after all, and every dollar I can save in one area I can spend in another. Still have to get a holster, boots, gloves, and a neck seal. Thanks on the weathering. Looks like my childhood spent building model tanks has paid off.
  15. All right, here it is all finished.
  16. Luckily you're here to tell me these things! Simple enough to fix.
  17. All right, after much waiting my doopydoos kit finally shipped and I set to the task of attaching it. I'm waiting on the front until I can paint it separately and attach it, don't want to get paint on the little blinky light. Here are the results.
  18. Its like a train wreck, but I just can't stop watching...
  19. Good thing I stocked up on E6000 then eh? Nothing quite like having a project underway. I'll be sure to post more pics up as I get things done.
  20. Never saw that one coming did you? Well I decided the blaster was as good a place to start as any, and at a friend's recommendation I decided to buy a Hasbro and then convert it. Doopydoos kit has been ordered, but to tide me over as I wait I decided to do some of the stuff I've seen in other build threads. Namely take out those weird red things from the shroud, get rid of the scope front, nip the tip, and sand off the fun little FCC compliance statement and friends. I would have liked to drill in that extra set of holes in the shroud, but I found myself happened by a crippling combination of laziness and worry. Worry about the inability to take the damn thing apart, thanks to that infernal back of the scope. Its wedged on there tighter than... tighter than a thing that's really tight. So in the absence of drilling, I decided to have fun hollowing out that scope rail and the front sights. This was my very first time using my new dremel, but I'm reasonably pleased with it. Now take a look at the pics please and let me know what I'm doing right and what I'm doing wrong. Your opinions are always welcome, unless your opinion is that I'm a jerk (In which case: pffft, you don't even KNOW me.)
  21. No validation email. Just great. XD
