  1. I really hope they will make the stormtroopers more formidable then they were portrayed in the original trilogy. In every star wars dictionary, encyclopedia, etc... I have read, TK's are supposed to be the "Elite" shocktroopers of the Empire. I would love to see some TKs take down some pirates / thugs, or like, kick some enemies' butt in like hand-to-hand combat or something :)

Totally, 100% agree! They need to be the troopers of the books and such. Just the sight of them are imposing and you know there's no use resisting.

  2. While I want the show to be 100% Star Wars it would be cool to see some variations / new stuff, as well as if it were more of an "outer rim" feel (much like Firefly)... which, would mean probably more "TD" looking troopers for sure.

  3. That may be right about it being between ROTS and ANH... I can't / couldn't remember exactly. I remember it being said it was at the "height of the Empire". So that makes more sense. And I know they talked about stormtroopers being in it, no mention of clones. And Boba Fett was in one article I read as well... which would be fun! More bounty hunters = always good.

I think one of the things it will do for "us" as the 501st at least is get even more people interested in getting armor and joining. Also, I wonder if there will be a whole new set of "canon accurate" armor and helmets developed. What if all the TKs on the show have black tube stripes? :D haha

  4. So you've all heard that Uncle George is going to a live action TV show in the next couple of years that will focus on the time between ANH and ESB when the Empire was still very strong. The reports I've read have said that it will take place on worlds and in systems that are far away from Vader and the Emperor (long may he live) and that while we'll HEAR of them we'll never see them. But, and this is the part I (and I believe all other TKs) are excited about, you will see many, many stormtroopers. The good ole' white TKs we all love.

Obviously, at least how I see it, there's going to be a resurgence in people recognizing TKs... but more than that KIDS are finally going to get filled up on them and not just clone troopers (which are good too).

So, how do you think this will affect trooping?

  5. So I'm following the great tutorial by Luis on modding the MR CE and I have a question of preference.

Who thinks I should leave the gap, as Luis did, on the ears, and who thinks I should fill it in?

I'm thinking of filling it in, and here's my thought process on why...

Even with all the mods the bucket is an idealized bucket. It's symmetrical, it's perfectly shaped, doesn't have any bumps or warping to it. It's pretty much the "ideal" bucket. So, I'm thinking of just finishing it out that way as "idealized".

Also, before I knew anything that I know now I thought that gap between the ears and the helmet was a mistake that people had because they hadn't taken the time to fill it in. Of course I know better now, but 90% of the people we "meet" while trooping probably don't know better.

I suppose it obviously comes down to what it all comes down to. Do I want it to be as "canon" / "screen accurate" as possible, or do I want it to be what I want it to be?

Of course I have to ask if the ears are filled in would it still meat elite standards... as that's something I want to get one day soon... but right now I'm just wondering preference.

Are there those of you who like them filled, and if so why, and if not why not?

  6. Just checked on the USPS site and my AP bucket has cleared customs! Can't wait to finally start on it :) Just need to loose some weight before i get the rest of the armour.lol. Any tips? lol.

I joined WeightWatchers online. Have lost over 25lbs so far (since Jan).

It's slow going on it, but that's because it's changing your habits... as they say, it's not a "diet". Still got a ways to go for my ultimate goal, but I look great (if I do say so myself) in my armor now! I even got to decrease the shims in my calves to almost nothing!

  7. It's possible to do it without taking it apart.

The reasons to take it apart are:

    1) Makes it a BUNCH easier to trim / raise the brow. (If you don't disassemble it I recommend using a metal ruler under the brow to keep from nicking / cutting the forehead.)

    2) Makes it easier to put on new ears / fill the gaps from where the old ears were.

Those are the two main things I can think of as to why to take it apart... but no, you do not have to.

It's not as hard as you think. Using a heat gun / hair dryer to heat up the glue and looking at the post above, as well as my posts on my website, to really see where and how it's snapped together, makes it quite easy.

If you're using the same ears that came with it and doing the MR CE Ear Mod then I'd say don't take it apart!

Just a quick one regarding upgrading the MRCE (I have never done this before). My MRCE is in the mail as we speak and I'm wondering....

This might be obvious to many but, when I've filled in the seams with some kind of past and whatnot, I have to spraypaint it. Do I just sand down the entire helmet with fine sandpaper and then one coat of primer or two, then some sort of white gloss (2-3 coats) and finish off with a clear coat?

Yes, that's pretty much exactly what you do.

If you've not done so yet, do yourself a favor and read this thread like 100 times before you start.--------------

I've read it, re-read it, memorized it, forgotten it, remembered it, all but had it tattooed on my arms as a "memento", and then re-read it again as I'm in process. It is, by far, the end all be all "bible" for modding and MR CE.

    Hope that helps! B)

  9. Why not just a textured black spray paint? Something that looks like "more" without really being anything more. I mean this is a highly technological armor... so while I agree the insides wouldn't look like they do (just reverse of the outside in white) they would (or could) look like something we don't think of... just black "textured" paint would be cool I think.

  10. I went to that site, and the forums don't show up for me after registering.

Do you know his email address or can you contact Kevin for us so we may

discuss how to order some from him?

    Thanks!!

Sorry I just now saw this... looks like you got it worked out though.

(Sometimes I don't get alerts on things I've replied to.)

I´ve a problem with my new FX:

Has anywhere an idea, where I can close my calves on the back. The calves has a distance from ca.6 or 7cm between the 2 parts. :(

Whats the best material to put it in this split to close it for trooping?

    --------------

I´m a bodybuilder,so my calves are a little bit bigger than the ones from most other guys. :(

Wow... I have those SAME calves!

I used "black out material" for curtains. It's dirt cheep and a good match on the white color.

I thought the vinyl was far too shiny and had a weird "faux leather" texture.

One suggestion I have is to attach the pieces in the back (the fabric) with Velcro and leave them attached. Then take your calves off from the front. The way to do this with your knee plate is to un-rivet the right (inner-leg) side of it and get a small white brad to fasten that side back together with after you put your armor on. The brad idea, actually, just came to me last week... I have been using a piece of Velcro with good success until now.

    Hope that helps!
