  1. No, she meant rivets:

    ----------

I used just one on each side, but I'm sure the second really helps in keeping the faceplate firm when you're drilling holes for the ears assembly!

That also can reduce the gap over the tube that can lead to a bad assembly.

You can also see the second rivet in this picture, on the first helmet on the bottom, which is the only one without ears yet:

  2. Also looking into ways to stop the kneeplate from getting under my thigh...

Just put a strip of thin foam on the back of the thighs. it keeps the front close to your leg and reduces the problem.

Oh and I'm not going to add any mesh behind the teeth - I rather stay accurate :)

Way to go! I have no mesh too B) Just use a balaclava to cover the face inside the helmet (and which can also help in taming your heavy-metal hair!!! :D)

  3. This suit looks pretty good and inexpensive relative to others. Any experience in extreme heat? It says it works in both hot and cold- that is my only doubt, best of both worlds?

I trooped in the hottest summer's sunday at 1pm directly under the sun (ugh), works very well with perspiration.

Trooped also in a cold autumn day with only a thermal longsleeve under it, worked well.

I only added thumbs and feet stirrups. :)

  4. Dump the 1.2v rechargeables and switch to lithium 3.7v batteries. Much lighter, super long lasting.

I run my ROM/FX with three of them for over two days of trooping, almost full volume, only 900 mAh.

I use these, but there are also higher mAh.

Three of them also for fans, you get 12v at full charge.

    ;)
