The suit are all done. The plan was to take the suit to a big sand grave.
But heavy rain destroy the plan, so my girlfriend took a few shots of me indoor the apartment.
I hope to take some new pics in a sand grave before the winter coming.
About the suit, its my first time wearing it. But seems to fit perfect.
I have not add the bicep to the shoulder, just like the screen used. So maybe they hang a bit low, but so did the screen ones as well i guess.
I have also add the latex hand plates on the wrong hand, just like they was on the ANH move a long Sandtrooper.
The glue i used was not tip top, so they are not add good to the rubber glove yet, but will be soon.
Well heres the monster, hope you like him

That's a very cool rig, Rolf.
Looking forward to your stromi build. Are you go for a shiny or weathered one?
Thanks
I think i will go for the more beat up 70´ weathering used look, whit dark marks here and there, maybe some of the ab section paint coming off etc

I will also get a HDPE RS helmet for this baby here soon.
Any way, i manage to get the suit on my home made doll today, and like to show you.
I think the pics shows it pretty good as well, even its on a doll, whit out the back pack on, and not the latex hand plates as well.

Hi troop´s my RS Sandtrooper are done, and i just wanna show a few pics of it, and the some weathering progress pics i took along the way
The weathering tools.
I only use Raw Umber for the job, different forum items for details and go deeper in the parts.
For cloth i use a few different ones as well, mostly only a shirt and a t-shirt.
The t-shirt can be nice, because it have smaller fibers, so it do not make to many marks in weathering, but smooth dust it out:
I do the weathering in four stages:
1. Just get the Raw umber all over the armor.
2. The dab the weathering so it looks like a smooth dust/dirt layer.
3. The take some of the weathering off.
Here i use the same cloth i used to get the weathering on, plus a wet piece of cloth, and a dry one as well and dab it around here and there where i want patterns and cleaner areas.
4. The i take some more weathering on, mostly whit my form sticks for getting details.
Taken whit flash:
One whit out flash, i just post both, as the weathering job can look different in the darkness:
The helmet:
A few replica details.
The two white dots, whit dark weathering around them:
Same armor as the move a long armor, this time used in back alley of dok 94.
Here er see the left side of the armor, the road block scene just show us the right side.
I have copy the white line on the arm, and all the holes have dark weathering, and a clean surface:
More dirt in the middle holes vs the top and end:
I aim to take some full suit up pics next week coming
-
I just paint the ear caps screw, and the screws on the armor, rivets and all:
Move a long replica paint job:
1. Mouth fall down bow.
2. Lump over mouth end holes and go out.
3. 13 side tubes stripes right, 16 left.
4. High up painted chin.
5. Right eye leave some trim line above, left trimmed a bit more out.
6. High bow trim line.
7. Back and cap - Left grey/black out line fall a bit out down right.
New pics up real soon of the weathering job.
Move a long... move a long...

Well done mate
Thanks bro, now to the fun part... getting dirty
One new pic, copying the correct metal snap of the ammo leg
Move a long... move a long

A few pics for today, the suit are done.
I have just test fit the suit, and redone a few things here and there.
I aim to get it dirty over the next week, and then he´s all done ready for some out door pics.
I have visit a few sand graves, a bit far away, but i hope to get the suit out there for some killer pics

I think you look great!!! and have the perfect body and build for being a top accurate ANH Stormtrooper
-
Copy that
I hear you, i might not paint my body armor as well.
But i will get a HDPE helmet for sure for having both, as one in ABS matching the armor, and a HDPE for accurate style.
Your build looks real nice! keep up the good work
-
Looking good Wayne, coming along real nice
What about the body armor, will you paint it or not.
I know you gonna get the helmet as HDPE, and spray paint that... so maybe also the armor then as well
My problem i need 4 RS suits, and "only" have 2.
I like both the ANH Stormtrooper, and Sandtrooper.
I like the RS TK/TD kits i got now, as 1,5mm ABS body armor and helmet.
Perfect for a life long trooping
But i also like to be 100% screen accurate, so in a way i need 2 more full RS kits.
As two 1,5mm ABS body armors, plus 2 HDPE helmets for display and white spray paint them white top to toe
Enjoy your build Mr. W
-
yeah he sure dos, it might be him... in a younger version
A few was LFL workers from the UK and US, but most of the sandtrooper´s was locals from tunisia.
-
I´m not 100% sure, but i have the feeling that.
Some, maybe the most, maybe all of the ANH stunt Stormtrooper version also had there body armors painted, we know the HDPE stunt helmet was for sure.
The hero helmet ANH Stormtooper version was pure ABS, both body armor and helmet... maybe not painted.
All Sandtrooper´s had only HDPE stunt helmets, no hero helmets, so maybe all sandtrooper body armors was painted as well, just like we see the screen used ANH RS armor is.
I guess it would be nice to have a not painted RS for trooping, both the body armor and helmet in ABS (like i have now).
And a display RS, all spray painted whit spray painted HDPE helmet and spray painted ABS body armor as well.
Maybe troop in it as well, as the more it will looked beat up, crack, paint come off, marks, used etc. the more screen accurate it will look.

Looking a these pics of screen used ANH suits, it also looks like they was spray painted white as well.
I´m not 100% sure, but on many of the pics, you see a different shade on the out side vs. the inside.
Paint coming off inside the shins, looks like small air stains on the for arms taken whit flash pic etc.
Check it out... what do people think
Same white shade as on the rivets as on the armor...
Looks like small air painted stains + look as the strips, they are totally white on the sides, no glueing to be seen, there it could be a white paint job as well:
Looks painted, also on the strap:
Paint coming off inside the shins:
But... again i´m not sure...
but it looks to me we see some full spray painted ANH suits from back then 1976.
Whit both spray painted whit HDPE helmets, and painted ABS body armors as well.
Sorry for the off topic post here, but i did it if you look more into maybe spray paint your RS body armor.

OK, as SW 1 enquired about the level of detail the plastic would capture, here are a few shots of the finished faceplate we are using. This is from a brand new tool, from our silicone rubber internal master, created just for this plastic type. Thanks for the great comment Paul, we are indeed pleased with the results.
I need some of that asap bro
-
Love the attention to detail mate Awesome job!
My only criticism is to raise the brow more.
Thanks trooper
I have add a piece of gaffa tape inside the helmet, and it have made the bow trim line a bit high up
-
Nice build Rolf.
Be careful with the ears. The ears on the RS have to be left a lot thicker at the front than at the back. (As I'm sure you have noticed) in the transitional area from the cap to the face plate there is a "step down" where the face plate seems to be a little collapsed in the cheek area. It's not a perfectly flush curve.
This is not criticism of the helmet kit - it's a near perfect replica of the original - just an odd characteristic of this one helmet.
If you do trim any more off the ears, don't do too much. This kit needs the ears relatively thick at the front.
Thanks Vern, and richard here.
Yeah i have assembled around 2 GF, 2 AP, 8 TE2, 2 LAWS, 4 TM helmets are they have. But this is my first RS, and its sure not the same as the others.
I guess i think the TE line age helmet is the most easy to assemble out of them all here.
The RS have some new curves, but i´m getting to know them better, and love the looks of it.
But as you post, the front of the RS ear caps will look more "fat" then on the e.g TE line age helmets we know off for some years out there.
Because the side tubes are a bit more slim vs. e.g the TE line helmet, therefor the RS ear caps have to be thicker/more fat vs. the TE helmet whit thicker side tubes.
If i should trim more of, it will be about 1mm nothing more i guess, if i did more i will get a gab i guess.
New pics up real soon
-
thanks for the kind replys bro´s
I will get the last straps today, and add them.
Test fit the suit a few times, before i get it dirty up.
New pics up soon

Good Point, but we dont know when was it painted. Was it painted for Starwars or was it painted after. If it was painted for starwars I'll be painting mine.I gues I'll watch the Starwars bluray tonight.
The kids hate it when hit pause button every time the stormtroopers come on.
same thing here, my son looks up at me ever time i go back and back again and again... we are plastic freaks, but love it
Enjoy the beautiful kit of yours, the RS rocks
