Small update:
This time i went for the look sir droids look.
whit the 15 stripes on the right, and 16 on the left.
And no jump over the 10 hole mouth.
AAaaand here you go.
I have a canvas belt on my way from FBJ, when i can add it on the suit.
He will hit a sandstorm, and ready for trooping.
New pics up asap.
Troop on

It was this suit, and these pics specifically, that made me want to go TD. And after that, Mike's suit, on the toy package. But the eye cuts on your helmet were a bit meaner looking.
And when Mike assembled the TE2 helmet for me, he did a similar look, and I think he said by accident since the heat from the glue gun caused the eye to squint a bit. See...
Oh, looky at the nice orange Rolf-Pauldron. Great work from a couple of talented guys (Mike and Rolf), and a great prop provider (Tony)!
Thanks for your kinds words on my pauldron run bro.
Here is a picture of the run i did

All I can say is you look "Dead Sexy" with that helmet head! Rolf's new suit addiction is satiated once again!!!
Maybe you will look better than that last crummy suit you wore! HAHAHA!!!
Rolf, you da best!
John
Ha ha thanks bro .
I will soon cover my face, whit this monster.
Check it out:
Here is a small update of the skull
-
Man that was one good looking suit. I really like how you did the tube stripes.
Thanks bro .
All hand painted, no stickers.
I will do them the same way, on the new one coming up.
Last time i did the 13, 13 L/R, Stop that ship a like.
Maybe i will do the look sir droids next time, whit the 16/15 stripes.
-
Nice Rolf! I was just looking at my box of TE2 yesterday and thinking of doing it finally!
Strips cut 2,5 cm for the legs, and shins.
2 cm for the bicep.
1,5 cm for the arms.
Really makes it look nice. So the Novus will buff it out pretty well huh? interesting. I like your style buddy!
Thanks bro
Yeah i did the stripes like that.
I Denmark our spray paint is not strong enough for trooping.
So i will not paint it.
Just polish it a bit up whit Novus and weathering it, and then give it a good hair spray job like last time.
Here is a few shots of my last TE2:
If i do a TE2 TK next time, i might just give it a spray lacquer job... it will gloss it up too, but not come off like paint do.
Cheers

Looking really good there Rolf ( no suprises!! )
I dont have anything holding the back of the shins closed, they just do as they please
Thanks for your kind words on him my friend .
Now i only need your accurate belt, to hold it all together.
-
The elastic, I believe, has velcro on the side that isn't facing the camera, and pull the shins together and attaches to the white velcro on the leg armor to clamp it together.
You got it right .
I just add normal white velcro whit glue on, to the inside shin.
And add black velcro whit out glue on, to hold the shin together (maybe i will add one more longer down, to close them up 100%).
I just glue the strip on the right side of the shin, on the right leg/shin.
And on the left side shin, on the left side leg/shin.
-
can you take a picture of the back of the shin area showing where the velcro is?
Here you go
-
Heres a few new pictures.
I hope to have the helmet ready in a week or so, then its weathering time.
Just a test fit, still need a few things here and there:
Here on my doll:
Next up, the helmet.
Love the bumpy back and cap, so 70´a like cool:
Cheers
-
can you take a picture of the back of the shin area showing where the velcro is?
Copy that.
I will have one up, in a few days from now
-
The legs are closed both front, and back.
Just like the bicep, and arms.
Only the shins, are only closed on the front, but open on the back.
On the back, the stripe shall one be glued on the same side shin you wear.
The other one is free, and then the stripe overlap it when you wear it.
I have velcro on the inside, and a black velcro whit out glue on to open and lock, to hold the shins good together.
I don´t think i can get my foot through the shin, if i close the shin back side too.
-
Do you glue together both the front, and back of the arm and leg pieces? or do you apply velcro ?
Do you paint after all the glue is done?
Derek
I only add the strips on the fronts, not inside them.
I just take off the paint tape, when the E6000 is dry.
I will not paint the suit.
I will add a little:
NOVUS 2 fine scratch remover, and shine it a bit up.
Plus when i add the hair spray on the weathering, it will gloss up even more.
I don´t like to have paint on the body armor, and see it come more and more off when i troop in it.
So no paint, just as it is.
And as a sand trooper the i don´t need it to be high gloss either.
Check my suit from last time under www.starwarshelmets.com
Look under TE2, there you can see my suit non painted.
I will do the same this time
-
So simple its brilliante!!!!!! i insist!!!! the most impresive ideas are always the simplist.........
Thanks bro, and here you go
Now i only need to trim the unside whit my dremel round head, so they fit good.
Next up:
1. Sand paper work.
2. Assemble/hand paint detail the helmet.
3. Weathering.
Ready for duty
-
Dude your my hero Good stuff.
Question, Did you cut the stripes on the arm a different size then the legs?
Ha ha thanks bro
I cut 2,5 cm for the legs, and shins.
2 cm for the bicep.
1,5 cm for the arms.
-
I'm stunned by how fast you trim these suits Rolf. Great work, as always.
Thanks bro.
I have been working hard on him again today.
Cheack it out BAM!!!
It took a long time to match the parts 100% good together, but now they are good to go.
I tape them up from the inside to hold the shape, before i E6000 glue the strips on.
This time i did not use clamps, because they can´t reach the middle of the parts.
I therefor used a strong paint tape (it leave no glue on the parts, after taken off).
I will let the E6000 glue dry to tomorrow, before the tape comes off.

nice one mate, its about time you got back into armour.Do you still think you are getting your DL suits?
Copy that big time bro .
I sold my last suits in december, and buy the DL suits there.
But they are on delay, so i want back in armor now.
I think i will get the DL suits, but not sure when...
-
130 minutes? I bet you can trim armour in your sleep
Looks great Rolf as ever, i really look forward to reading your build threads
Ha ha all most bro.
But today i was slow, i used about 4 hours to make the bicep, arms, legs, shins to fit right, and glue the strips on whit E6000...
New pictures up asap
-
Wow you have a few suits
2 for display, 2 for trooping.
+ my wife is also a 501st, so she use them too as she likes.
+ i will give one to my son, if he likes one, when he gets older.
I love all the figures in the old saga, but i only collect ANH stunt stormtrooper suits, and sandtroopers.
So i seems crazy, but some in my garrison have even more, just different ones, like tie, snow, scout, vader etc.
Cheers
-
Awesome Rolf!
Are you making a sandtrooper?
Copy that.
This beauty will be a sandtrooper.
But when i get my Dan Laws suits, i will get both a TK, and a TD.
So then i will deploy your guys too there asap
-
Hi troops .
I got this beauty from our very own master T, 3 days ago (got the helmet today).
I trim the the body armor today, and it only took me 130 minuttes.
I only used these two sharp dudes for the job:
Here you go:
Just 5 minuttes after i have trim the body armor, mr. postman came in whit the helmet too:
Thanks for this beautiful suit T, and all the extra gear in the package (t-shirt, stickers, bows, cards, snacks, cash for imperial juice)
See you in the cantina Master T, first drink on me bro :
Cheers

-
I´m not backing out T.
I can´t wait, for my two new TE2 suits to come home from you.
To me, the two best suits out there, is the TE2, and TM.
Only the Dan Laws suit from new molds, will be in there as one of the best too i guess.
Long live TE2, one of the best/most screen movie accurate suits out there.
Peace out bro

Here a few weathering pics:
1. I will not use all the colours in the woodland brand set.
I have mix two browns my self, from a older kit.
Its the two last ones to the right.
I only used 4 colours, and its the 4 tones from the right.
I will used a cut up t-shirt, a kitchen cloth, a bucket of wather, and thats it:
2. I add the second darkest of the two browns i have made, to make the details i want in the suit:
3. Then i will add the sand tone, in there.
Just beside the brown one:
4. Then the yellow a like, not too much.
Because it can quick turn too yellow a like:
4. I then take the bucket of wather, the kitchen cloth.
Touch it here and there, where i have add the weathering:
And here you see the suit, after 5 hours work:
I have not add the hair spray on yet, but i will today.
It will give the suit a more shine/gloss a like look in the end.
Hope you like him.
Cheers troops
