  1. Hi All

Can i ask, i have an FX Helmet Kit. Should i sell it, or build it?

I already have an ANH Helmet both MR and a AP Fiberglass recast.

There is an option to create a Sandtrooper's stop that ship helmet?

I am wondering what i should do with the new FX Kit which came with my armor!.

    Any advice please.thanks

  2. ok my AM Lite kit is coming tommorow so i might as well start the build thread now, got everything i need to cut and glue the armor, will be using e-6000 again. i also went to the fabric store yesterday and got all the stuff i need to make the strap system, im gonna be using snaps on tabs and elastic inside, i got a garter from mightytank which is awesome, i will be swapping out the polypropolene i think it is belt that he has on there with a leather belt from walmart so i can make it tight and it wont go anwhere, considering also getting suspenders to just take some of the weight off the elastics but we'll see, also got tkittells awesome canvas white belt for the outside and a neckseal from gotarmor, its like a glossy plastic like material which i never noticed before until i looked closely but it is the same sort of material that the originals were made of, atleast thats what it looks like heh. special thanks to quebectrooper for the gloves which i couldnt find anywhere lol.. so IF the guy drops off the armor at my apartment tommorow ill have pics, but my name is different than the name on the buzzer so last time he didnt deliver it, it just went to the post office and if thats the case ill have to wait till friday morning to pic it up >.>

Good luck mate! always and always CUT LESS!!!!

  3. Hey everyone,

My name is clay. I am a member of the USAF currently stationed in Northern Japan. My home town is Louisville Kentucky. I have always been a Star Wars fan as early as I can remember. Recently after looking for this years Halloween costume I ran across some store bought "Theatrical Style" TK costumes online. After reading comments about these costumes I noticed that people said the costumes where probably not 501st approved. I was like "huh, what the hell dose that mean?" So I started to research. I had no idea that there was a global fan based Star Wars costuming group out there. After digging around I finally came across this site and have learned a lot about the different armors used in the films. I even watched the whole saga again just because lol. Well I realize it is quite a bit late for this years Halloween... but there is always next year and also the chance to join the ranks of other troopers!

I think I may try to acquire a RT-Mod kit because I am 6'2" 170lbs. I read that that kit is more geared for larger troopers. My resources for hobby/craft shops are quite scarce at my current location here in Japan, so I may be limited to mostly online resources. Any advise before/during my build would be greatly appreciative. Also I wanted to know if I could gain some insight on how other military members choose what unit of the 501st to join. Moving around a lot does that mean you change your unit frequently or do you just stay in one unit. Like a home unit or something. I am a little afraid to try and contact the Japanese Garrison because I speak no Japanese. Is anyone here in the forums a Japanese Garrison member or knows a member I can contact? I tried there website http://www.501st.jp/ but it's all in Japanese and and there is no translation. Thank you for letting me join your forums, it will be a great help to me! :salute:

  4. Hey guys,

I just got my AM kit but have no idea where to start. I lined up the forearms (the inner fitting into the outer) and it seems like I have a lot to trim, but don't know where to measure to know how much to take off and where; the length is fine though. Also I tried to line up the biceps and the inner won't fit into the outer. I assume that is how its supposed to be since the outer has the molded cover strips so I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions? I've looked at the AM tutorials but I don't see anything for what I need. Its just that I'm not mechanically inclined and have never done anything like this before. I know I can do it, I just need some help on where to start and for the 2 aforementioned issues. Thanks!

Also make sure your wear your undersuit and measure it! close them to together, then draw a line with pencil. Then score using a plastic cutter! you can get it a ACE Hardware for cheap. Then snap the pieces! then you line both ends together like how you would line up 2 rulers side by side! then tape them at both sides and fit it! Once you are happy, cut cover strips! and cover the seams!

Are you thinking of doing cover strips? See the shins that i have attached. Biceps, forearm, thighs, shins i used same method.

ALWAYS CUT LESS maybe with 1cm first then another 1cm! but if you cut 1 inch, you can use the excess as cover strip or inner strip.

In this pic i have added inner strips and waiting for it to cure. I use E6000 glue! they are the best!!

Do drop me a PM and send me your email ID, i will forward and help where i can!
