  1. I was looking forward to putting together a Sandy out of this kit, but as I am gearing up to build an Ep III clone I'm just not going to have time for this project, nor do I have the space to store it for later. So, much as it pains me, I'm putting up my set of AP TK/TD armor and TE2 bucket for sale.

I've already assembled most of the armor with glue/velcro and have installed a snap system to hold it all together. Since I am 6'3" & 190lbs the strapping may need to be adjusted to fit. Also I had only done some rough trimming, so there is still some work to do to get the edges nice and clean on some of the pieces - most noticeably on the chest and thighs. The chest & back are currently held together with canvas straps but I am including the original ABS ribbed straps that came with the kit. In fact I'm including everything I received with the kit, including instructions, extra velcro, and extra ABS strips.

The helmet (#36 for 2008) is from TE2 and has been primed and partially painted (frown & right ear piece), though a bit rough as it was going to be a Sandy bucket. There is a crack in the HIPS running just beneath the right-side areator but it should be fixable. I'm including the original visor & neck trim that came with it, as well as two sets of ANH helmet decals (one TK, one TD) and one set of runriott's sweet green lenses.

I'm looking to get $600 for the set as there is some work left to do, but the suit is fully wearable as-is. I accept PayPal only and can only ship within the continental United States. Please pm me with any questions!

  2. Sweet-looking armor, Mike! I don't think you look too "chunky"...I prefer to call it "defined bulk". We have to have TKs who can intimidate without resorting to simple height. ;)

The only thing I can see that needs a little work (aside from that already mentioned) is that bucket. Who on earth made it for you - it's terrible! :P J/K! You, sir, do an awesome job putting helmets together.

  3. Hi James - welcome to the FISD. I know what you mean about modding your kit - I think it's a never-ending process. I've only been involved in 8 troops since joining up early this year, but I think I've gone back and changed something about my kit after almost every single one..sometimes more than a little. Every time it becomes more comfortable and easier to wear, but there always seems to be things I want to try out. I've used the vast amount of info & experience here plenty of times - the boards are a great resource!

  4. Ok i have to ask how do that hovis sound and how loud can they get ?

They are easily loud enough to be heard clearly in a room or even in a convention hall, as long as you're not trying to get the attention of someone a fair distance away. By switching to a pair of AA battery boxes instead of a single 9V the output can be raised up some, but it still isn't as loud as an external amplifier.

I preferr having everything mounted within the helmet so I don't mind giving up some on loudness. If its too loud for me to be clearly heard in normal conversation than I just turn the sound system off anyway.

  5. Right now I just have my ROM/FX mounted in a hollow along the inside rim of the helmet with some industrial velcro so that I can remove it easily, yet it stays put when I want it to. That way it is close to both the audio jack for my Hovi speakers (courtesy of Stomper) and also close to good mounting points for my AA battery boxes. I have an AP bucket and everything is enclosed within.

  6. The short, "go easy on me" answer is no. ;)

The mic tips are shaped wrong, have the wrong type screen, and have silver lining around the screen that does not exist in more accurate Hovis. Now, I don't know if the green acetate that comes with the AP is screen accurate or not. I did use it for a while and it worked just fine, but I grew tired of how they looked and replaced them. I also don't know if the trim is accurate, either, although I personally think it looks fine. I would definitely replace the Hovis and then see where to go from there. Hope that was an easy enough answer. :P

  7. I think I'm aiming for hero, elite.

So what do I need to tweak for elite?

    I have CS-2 Smitty blaster.

I figure I need the holster and maybe the cloth belt (not sure which belt this one has)

    and the blue dots.

    What else?

    - Side gaps between ab & back plate need to be closed, either by having the pieces actually touching or through the use of ABS (preferred) or other white material shims.

    - Holster to be fastened from behind the belt on left side with rivets/snaps.

I know you've got the blaster end covered with one of Smitty's awesome E-11s. You will likely need a canvas belt, as you guessed, as I think GF comes with an ABS belt. A good place to obtain the correct-sized & colored ab buttons is from Vaderdave. I think that pretty much covers it from what I can see. It won't take much work at all to get that nice-looking suit up to Elite specs!

  8. Nice work so far on the Cpt Rex clone armor. :) I'd love to build a set myself someday, when both time & money are more abundant than they currently are.

A good place to check up on the specifics on the nuances of ANH-style armor is the Elite Standards page here on FISD. It lists everything that is particular to each film as there are a number of differences between ANH, ESB & ROTJ. You don't have to go all out to Elite if you don't want to (although I know Paul would love it if you did!), but at least the info is there. I personally like ANH armor the best. ;)

  9. And at 6ft 2 or 3" maybe i wasn't designed to be a TK/TD, lol.

Nonsense! I'm at that same height and love being a TK. One of the best parts is "forcing" a couple of our garrison Vaders to wear platform boots in order to boost their height when I stand next to them. ;)

  10. Nice, congrats on the purchase. :) I'm actually doing the exact opposite - I have a set of AP armor built up that I'm going to use for a TD and keep my modded FX as my TK until I pick up either a set of RT armor or another ANH set.

  11. Welcome to the premier location for everything white armor, Xavier. :) I sympathize with real life keeping one away from working on projects. I've been working on a TD for months a bit at a time, what with work & other things taking away most of my free time.
