    just a thought

Ryan, From a proud member of your own Garrison..... Very well said.
  2. James, Is that a dremel bit you pictured.... I have the dremel XPR witht he drill press, which is awesome, however I can only go up to a 1/8 inch bit.... If that is a dremel bit, how big is the largest hole you can drill. Thanks!
  3. Don't the drop box(es) cover it up.... ....perhaps you can take a black sharpie (permanent marker) to it.
  4. In light of the recent tragedy that took place here in Colorado Springs, CO yesterday...and after attending the Elk's kids party yesterday I got to thinking about an issue that I feel really should be discussed. Ironically, at about the exact time the hostage situation/shootings were occuring at the New Life Church, myself and other individuals were arriving at the Elks Lodge in preparation for the event. Unbeknownst to myself and another member that this crime was being carried out, we had headed to the event with (2) very large and incredibly realistic stage prop firearms, which quite literally took up the entire back seat of our vehicle... It was to a point that myself and this other member even commented that should we get pulled over, and the officer involved see those "props"...we would have certainly been pulled out of the vehicle...probably with a semi-automatic wedged in our ears...until they could clear the scene...not knowing that these firearms were, in fact, not actual firing weapons. Especially, since.... I am positive that all of the local law enforcement agencies were already being notified of the events taking place at the New Life Church. Once we arrived at the Elks Lodge, we were responsible enough to advise several individuals that we were, in fact, going to be carrying in very realistic and large non-working stage props, however with the size of the (2) props involved it was not possible to fully conceal them and they had to have been seen by other individuals not in the knowing. Fortunately, there were no issues and the event was successful. I think this is a HOT topic that should be taken very serious. As a former law enforcement officer myself...I know how "sensitive" traffic stops can be...and two large firearms (chain guns/sniper rifles) openly displayed in the back seat of a vehicle can lead to some serious, if not life-threatening, consequences for all parties involved...whether these firearms are real or not. Granted...these particular props are incredibly awesome... but WE know that they are fake, whereas...MOST others have no idea that they are or not. I submit that we do not put ourselves into these potentially deadly sitautions in the future... I also suggest that anyone transporting these items...consider creating some kind of a storage/transportation unit for them. ....Just a thought. Any opinions.....
  5. Try sending him a PM.... I'll be seeing Eric next week.... let me know if you don't hear from him by then...and I'll let him know you are trying to get in touch.
  6. Brad, Thanks for the idea.... I'm working on doing just that...right now.
  7. I agree... I have heard of the toilet paper roll holder before.... pictures would be ideal.... Thank to all...so far...for the replies.
  8. Tony, Canon would be preferred.... if not, anything else would be helpful also. Thanks!
  9. Does anyone have any information on building com links? They look fairly simple to build...
  10. Would you happen to have any photos of your setup...? I'd appreciate it...
  11. Does anyone out there have ANY suggestions to eradicate the feedback issue in the Skullworx setup. It IS a GREAT setup...however I would really like to be able to crank up the volume... As of right now, and I think I share the same comments as others who own this particular setup, I am only able to turn up the volume about 1/3-2/3 of its range, which isn't exactly enough. If I can get the full volume benefit...then I feel this setup is hard to beat... If anyone has this setup and has, successfully taken care of this issue, please let me know... Pictures/links etc...would be GREAT! Thank you.....
  12. I picked up a Skullworx last weekend...love the convenience of the setup... I do get ALOT of feedback however. Otherwise, it's a great idea. Does anyone out there have a solution to get rid of the feedback..? I feel if I could crank the volume up all the way...it would be plenty loud...and the static burst would work well...you just have to remeber to do it.
  13. Yeah... the thing about his neck seals...is that they are very comfortable. I have no doubt that it will be perfectly fine to wear for an extended period of time...even on the longest of troops... Colorado Springs is a great place to live... My wife and I moved here from Fort Lauderdale back in 1994 and we haven't missed it a day (except for the beach and scuba diving). Good luck to you... and enjoy the seal if you get it.
  14. Steven, I just met Eric at Trik Toys this past week...spent 2 hours at his home yesterday doing some sound work for my bucket... Super person.... great customer service... Funny you should ask.... I picked up a neck seal of his... AWESOME!!!! Very well made....nice ribs and easy to put on. I dont...actually I know...you won't find a better one for that price. Tell him I referred you to him.... he'll hook you up. If you need a Pauldron....he's got those also. Unfortunately the (10) that he had at his home had already been spoken for...so I have one coming. They were really nice also... Good luck...and have fun!
  15. Personally... You can't go wrong with the ones on that Ebay auction.... I've heard some things about the newer CABoots...which kind of steered me away from the thought of buying them...and I'm really glld I made that decision. You can't go wrong with them... and tons of members have been trooping in these boots for years.
  16. Thanks for that... I appreciate it. From your photo...it doesn't look to terribly bad. Quite possibly you can find a thread that can help you make any necessary repairs.. Thanks again...and GOOD LUCK to you....
  17. Certainly, They are REALLY nice boots....and comfortable. His name is "Dan"...and he outfits alot of 501st...and I haven't heard anything negative about them... Good luck!
  18. This guy has GREAT boots on Ebay!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Stormtrooper-Storm...1QQcmdZViewItem
  19. Thanks for the great tip.... ...and it looks like you did a GREAT job yourself. Thanks again!
  20. I just spent the last two hours dremeling out the frown of my bucket...and placing the screening behind the new openings....what a HUGE difference this easy mod makes... Originally, I was going to just drill "round" holes in the center of the black frown stickers...but, as you all probably guessed (and you can see by the photos) is really looked bad...to say the least... So, I decided to remove all of the black frown sticker areas (carefully leaving the gray sticker areas alone). I then used several different sized drill bits to edge away the areas... beginning with the biggest drill bit to get the basic area out that I wanted...then down-sizing to the smallest drill bit that I had to "fine-tune" and level out the cuts... Last I hot-glued the charcoal colored screening on the inside. For those of you that have already done this... you know the big difference that these openinigs can make.... and for those of you that haven't done this yet....you HAVE to do it. In fact, if there are any of you in the Colorado Springs - Denver area that would like some help, please let me know.... I had a BLAST doing it.
  21. Ed, Thanks for the information....GREAT idea(s)! Enjoy your Holiday, as well....
  22. Brian, Thanks for the reply...and the information. I'd really appreciate the pics...when you get a chance.... Thanks again...and Happy Holiday(s).
  23. Hello... Member from the Mountain Garrison requesting 501st access... http://www.501st.com/members/displaymember...cfm?userID=8640 Thank you!!! John TK-1446 Mountain Garrison
  24. I'm looking into new fans/amp/mic etc...for the bucket. I saw this on Ebay for $125 + s/h. ----- It appears to be a whole combo kit. Has anyone out there ever seen or used this kit...? Is it worth it...? If not, I would be open for any suggestions... Obviously I'm looking for quiet fans...and a mic/speaker system that will project the voice... I've been looking at triktoys...it looks like they have some great stuff there. The static burst idea is appealing also... Please let me know what ya'll think....and if you can steer me in a good direction as far as fans/mics/speakers...static burst items...I would REALLY appreciate it. Thanks... John
