Those are excellent pics man, I believe I may actually be able to pull this off. I'll start working on the prototype at work tomorrow night. I know that I have everything I need at work except for maybe the spring, but I'm bound to find something. With any luck it may be possible when I'm done to swing across a gap with a princess in tow. I should be home around midnight 30 eastern time with pics of what I come up with.

Hate to dig up an old thread like this but heres a pic from another thread about cutting the kidney/butt plate that clearly shows the grappling hook. This looks like an interesting project. Hey Trooper master, whats the situation on your white ABS boxes that store the grappling line on the belt you mentioned earlier in this thread?

Nice repair job buddy! Excellent work indeed, looks great.
-
Great idea! I can get acetone all day long at work. Remember boys and girls no smoking while applying your new repair paste as acetone is extremely flammable. We arent even allowed to use our comm radios at work in the acetone room (that whole fear of generating a spark)

I guess it depends then on your morals if you want to support recasting or not.
My helmets coming from Guns. Because its better. But the fiberglass helmet in question is a nice helmet. All finished and all for the buy it now price, but TE2 > fiberglass recasts.
Man you make me feel guilty

That one is pretty nice IMO. Theres a guy on here that just got one exactly like it the other day and he's extremely happy with his.
-
But really, what does FISD call them? Do we go along with the authors who may have been dreaming up details after the fact, or do we stick with "drop boxes"?
I always thought they were blaster bolt magnets...no wait, thats the chest plate.

I know exactly which one youre talking about. Thats the guy I was gonna get mine from (troopersuppplies) FX lite at the best price Ive seen thus far.

I found that one the other day and I ask the guy if the armor in the video is the armor in the kit for auction, his reply:
Hi, yes, what you see in the video is the same set of armour that we have for sale. It looks great doesnt it! I have soo much fun with mine! I phoned up dominos the other day and ordered a pizza for collection under the name vader then turned up in my armour to pick it up! ) If you have any more question's then please dont hesistate to email me.
BUT
Since I know Danny Choos armor is FX Lite with a SDS Dome I replied with this:
So since Dannychoo's armor in the video has AA Shepperton helmet, youre including that instead of the armor fx helmet? Wow this is a really good deal.
His reply:
The FX Helmet I include is 100% the same as the shepperton Helmet in quality, style and material. I have both types and cant see any differance, this is the cheepest armour around that can match if not better the shepperton armour. any more questions please dont hesitate to email me. Kind regards
Now, I might have been born at night....but it wasnt last night.

Now after looking at them side by side I can tell they arent the same helmet, but they definitely came from the same mold but alot of work was done to the mold before the second was made...I still think its a nice looking helmet, but I'm a noob. At least the guy has good feedback
-
Re-cast or not its a nice looking bucket. the line that is fairly apparent that goes around the base of the dome is the only thing I have mixed feelings about. And it does look identical to the one that Chefhawk linked to, looks like they just repaired the patch where the starwars logo was on the back of the helmet and relisted it.

Nice job on your assembly guys. You guys definitely look like youre ready a boarding party.
-
Looks great Mike! The undersuit looks a little big where it bunches at your elbows and knees but overall you did a great job on your plastic work. Looks like you even used the good button kit for the ab plate. I hope mine turns out as good.
-
I'd say this helmet is a modified recast of an SDS helmet. It has the thin side tubes and the elongated ear caps. It's also badly assembled making it look worse that it probably is. I don't think it looks nothing like the VSF, unless there is a newer version of it?
By this you are referring to the "new FX" helmet? I hope I do a better job assembling my TE2 when I get it. I would seriously cry myself to sleep for the rest of my life if my helmet turns out like that. "Fears of a noob"

That new pic makes it look like a cross between a stromtrooper helmet and the mask from the scream movies. I seriosly hope no one spends any money on one of those. I would rather have a don post tack welded to my face before I would even try one of those on.
Wow maybe we should rename this thread "Official New FX flame thread"
-
I think the SDS helmets look pretty good....my only problem with them is....drum roll please...that outrageous price. Another thing on the VSF helmet is that the eyes look more narrow than usual and the frown looks too small. You could prolly gouge out its eyeballs a bit, drop the brow some and get a pretty decent hero helmet.
-
This is good looking interior! Is that skullworx? I was thinking skullworx for my dome but I ended up prepaying for a TCI cuz static burst rox my sox. What are you using for static burst? Im prolly going trikstik for helmet numero dos.
-
Well the"new fx helmet" looks just wrong for some reason. Either the dome is too high on it or the face is too small, or something. I cant quite put my finger on it....does anyone else see what Im talking about? The VSF helmet has a decent shape to it, the pull looks a little weak but it looks better than the "new fx helmet"

food for thought:
Asymmetrical beings are better suited for adaptation and survival than symmetrical beings. Humans are asymmetrical-I read that somewhere....dont remember where but its one of those things that you run across by chance and it just becomes a mental note.

thanks bro, I was afraid that the texture would show through on the outside. This confirms my worries. Im looking at a 6HP shopvac at the pawn shop. Willing to give it a go anyway tho. But much later down the line. I have to get my own suit together first. I want to try to modify the FX body armor into Dark Trooper armor as featured in the Battlefront game. That is such a pimp trooper.
-
I'd like to be on your list, I'll need it for my FX ab plate.
-
I believe this question sorta falls under this category. Im tossing around the idea of building a vac-table and have question about the ABS sheets. The stuff I have found so far is gloss white, slick on one side and a slight texture on the other. I was hoping to find slick on both sides, but haven't so far. If thats all there is out there, would I just have to make sure that the textured side is the side that actually touches my molds, leaving the slick side as my visible exterior? I'm assuming in that situation the texture would flatten against my mold and become slick. Anyone...anyone...Beuler?

Hey dood welcome. Do you only dislike the FX helmet? You can save a buck by going FX lite (kit without the helmet) thats what I'm doing. Not to mention FX caters to those that are taller than your avg trooper.

Would it work to just swap out the FX shoulder bells with swooped bells that are crawling around on ebay from time to time? I had considered doing that once I got my FX armor.
