  1. Okay we're in the new year and I hope everyone is still working on things.

I'm posting here because I've done down a whole clothing size. Yep, a whole size. Haven't dropped that many pounds, but who cares? My clothes fit better. Except for my new ISB tunic, that I tailored to my measurements when I as a little bit bigger. Oh well, I'll just have to take it in, but not until later.

Also, I just applied for a position as a Strategic Data Analyst with the makers of P90X. Should be interesting and if I get it I'm going to be moving back to L.A. Kind of weird, but right now with the winter weather, I don't think I'd mind.

Anyway, if people want some direction, or motivation, let's keep this group going for the new year okay? I think BlueHickey had a great idea with this thread.

  2. On Friday I participated in my first troop as an approved 501st member (still waiting for my TKID though...) It was a Celebration of Life Party for a terminal cancer patient who is a serious SW fan. He didn't know we were coming and the look on his face when we walked in the room was priceless. I don't have any pictures of him to show, but I do have some. I didn't have my camera with me in the room so the pictures I have are after the party.

  3. My second troop as an approved (still waiting for my TKID...) member was for a birthday party for a young fan. His parents generously gave a $500 donation to the local food bank to have us show up and it was a lot of fun. A lot of the children were timid at first, but once the ice was broken they all wanted their pictures with us. Lots of fun, and the birthday boy was really excited.

  4. Okay, those of you who know me, know I've been working on my uniforms for a long time. On the third tunic, I've hit the jackpot. My GML sent me an email saying my ISB was approved, and I just need to wait for the LMO to assign me a number and I'm completely official. So as soon as I get that number I'll be updating my info here.

Here is my new improved and approved ISB...

Now I just need a job, need to finish losing the weight, and yes, I'll be needing to take the tunic in to fit me better in about 2-3 weeks. It is already looser than when I first put it together.

  5. This is a new regulation put into place and a signed international agreement. This applies to all shipped items which will be considered air cargo not on designated shipping comany planes, i.e. all items shipped via local postal services air mail to the U.S.

This is the Dept. Of Homeland Screwup, I mean Security's panicked response to last fall's bomb in air cargo on planes threat coming out of Yemen. I'm not an eexplosives expert by any means, but I think a lot of damage can be done by less than 1lb or 500g of plastique. This sucks, I order a lot of out of print books from overseas and not I'm not. Going to be able to afford it. Let alone the hand guards, shoulder straps, and compad I was about to order from people overseas. I'm terribly disappointed in the gov't.

  6. Since we're on the subject of user names...no mine isn't what I sign while trooping. I use the callsign "Shadow" for my TIE pilot persona which is still under construction, and Cmdr Kyramla Goran for my ISB since there aren't any women ISB officers in the SW Universe.

In fact, the unofficial squad I belong to the 149th War Wolves encourages all its members to come up with nicknames and biographies. For those of you who don't speak Mando'a, my ISB name means "fatal" or "deadly metalworker" and in my bio I come from Mandalore.

As for tigger68 that one has been a nickname for years. I had a hard time staying still as a child so my mom called me her tigger and it stuck. Walt Disney introduced his cartoon version of the character in 1968 the same year I was born so it is a logical conclusion.

And yes I have thought WAY too much about it, but kids want autographs and I can't sign them "tigger" now can I?

  7. We weren't allowed in the casino with helmets on and no blasters only lightsabers...go figure. Only person I know that gambled was one of the handlers who came in from out of town and was staying overnight in the hotel.

All on all it was a lot of fun to see the reactions of people and the pit boss and crew all had to have their pictures taken with us before everyone changed and we had dinner. BTW the TK in the"Halloween" picture is an EIB recipient.

  8. For a $500 donation to the local food bank "Harvesters" SureWest cable/internet services got our group to come out and troop for their space themed banquet. It was held at the Argosy Casino in Riverside MO (just outside KC). There were some awesome pictures taken. Unfortunately I wasn't able to troop because I showed up late due to car trouble, but overall everyone had a great night.

  9. Tanner, good luck putting the weight back on. Remember just one step at a time, take it one day at a time okay?

As for the rest of us...the new year is upon us. Time to look back over what we've done, or haven't done this past year, remember NO GUILT! NO REGRETS! And that we have a new year to keep working on looking the best we can in our armor.

    Happy New Year Fit Club!

P.S. I'm off to enjoy my non-alcoholic full-fat egg nog...anyone want to join me?
