ANH Blaster question about Henglster counter

I watched the movie last night again, trying to focus on the blasters and have searched here over the last few days and need a bit of help. The conversion I am doing is done except the D ring and the Hengstler counter. For an ANH TK or Storm trooper Commander do I need the Hengstler counter? Thanks
