My Helmet Build Thread

Don't forget about the ears ridges and screws ....

Thanks for the info, much appreciated, no worries about the blue tubes, they're not real decals, I've just blue tacked them on to see how they look. On the decal note , i had a sheet delivered this morning , they look cool. Almost got everything to complete the build now. I've seen some dark green bubble lenses on ebay, going for around £13 might grab a pair rather than messing around with motorcycle visors etc.

Cheers !!

Hi guys,

Just posting a picture of the next bucket development. I've managed to give the lid a couple of coats of plastikote primer and have started to paint the frown and ears. Since last post I now have a chest and back plate with shoulder straps and a pair of hand plates.

Cheers all.

I am a little confused. You have primed the helmet, but havn't done the finish painting, right?

If so, you should not have painted any detail work (the frown, ear trim, etc,), until after the final coat of white is sprayed and dried. Maybe, I read it wrong and correct me if so.

Yep you heard right, i'm goin to mask off ears, frown etc and then apply the gloss. I'm 100% certain that the humbrol paint will adhere to the primer coat better than painting over the the final coat. I suppose I could have masked then glossed and then applied the grey, either way I intended to pain the grey onto the primer. Painting matters a side, how do you think it's lookin

Regarding painting the grey sections first, What I didn't also mention, is that figured if I were to paint the frown and ears first and made a mess. It would be more easy to correct the mistake whilst on the primer coat stage than trying to correct a botched paint job over the final gloss coat.

Either way we'll see, I'll post another picture when the gloss coat is done.

Cheers.

nice lid man!

Thanks JD-89. For my first effort, I'm quite pleased with it but I would like to go for a Stunt at some point, I'm going to try and get some armour together now. I've just started to glue my forearm armour together. It's quite wide for my arms but I've decided to place some inserts inside for a tighter fit. I figured, if I cut it down to fit my arms, it would look way too skinny.

Cheers all .

Hi all

I haven't posted for a while, just thought I'd post a picture of my latest project, I've just completed an FX bucket, as you can see from the photo, the lid came with flat lenses( Which need to be darker )so I've gone for the Stunt type frown. I'm currently modifying my previous lid.

Cheers all !!
