Hi guys I had a change of mind, cleaned off the armour and went TK, just got clearance in the UKG
-
To be honest I haven't given much thought to the back pack at this stage, although I'm fully aware it's essential sandy kit. I wasn't actually aware there where different versions. Thanks for that, I'll check it out.
-
thanks mate, getting there I think, ammo belt next on the list.

Hi guys, Haven't posted for a while, been busy though, gone from TK to potential TD, see picture below for where I'm at. Cheers all

HI there, I've now snapped/strapped the chest and back plate, I've attached the shoulder bells. I should have a set of biceps armour soon.
-
Just posting a shot of my new FX bucket in relation to some armour sections. My next armour section winging it's way is an ab plate.

Hi all, I'm thinking of having a go at making some drop boxes, would any of you guys have the dimensions for the boxes in question ? Many thanks.

Hi all I haven't posted for a while, just thought I'd post a picture of my latest project, I've just completed an FX bucket, as you can see from the photo, the lid came with flat lenses( Which need to be darker )so I've gone for the Stunt type frown. I'm currently modifying my previous lid. Cheers all !!

Hi all, I've posted a picture of my armour so far, I'm currently waiting for a sniper plate to arrive.
-
Thanks JD-89. For my first effort, I'm quite pleased with it but I would like to go for a Stunt at some point, I'm going to try and get some armour together now. I've just started to glue my forearm armour together. It's quite wide for my arms but I've decided to place some inserts inside for a tighter fit. I figured, if I cut it down to fit my arms, it would look way too skinny. Cheers all .

Hi there, I've now applied the decals and brow.I've got work on the inside now. Cheers all.
-
Here is the latest picture of my lid, with a gloss coat, might be applying decals soon.
-
Regarding painting the grey sections first, What I didn't also mention, is that figured if I were to paint the frown and ears first and made a mess. It would be more easy to correct the mistake whilst on the primer coat stage than trying to correct a botched paint job over the final gloss coat. Either way we'll see, I'll post another picture when the gloss coat is done. Cheers.
-
Yep you heard right, i'm goin to mask off ears, frown etc and then apply the gloss. I'm 100% certain that the humbrol paint will adhere to the primer coat better than painting over the the final coat. I suppose I could have masked then glossed and then applied the grey, either way I intended to pain the grey onto the primer. Painting matters a side, how do you think it's lookin

Hi guys, Just posting a picture of the next bucket development. I've managed to give the lid a couple of coats of plastikote primer and have started to paint the frown and ears. Since last post I now have a chest and back plate with shoulder straps and a pair of hand plates. Cheers all.

Another picture of the build, all decals and brow are mock ups ,awaiting the warm weather in order to re spray it.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated, no worries about the blue tubes, they're not real decals, I've just blue tacked them on to see how they look. On the decal note , i had a sheet delivered this morning , they look cool. Almost got everything to complete the build now. I've seen some dark green bubble lenses on ebay, going for around £13 might grab a pair rather than messing around with motorcycle visors etc. Cheers !!

http://s788.photobucket.com/albums/yy164/z...nt=IMG_1017.jpg Hi there all, Don't know its going to work but the above link hopefully will show you all some images of my helmet build, from removing the moulded brow to filling and sanding etc. Cheers all !!

Hi all, I've now got my hovi mix tips and have a decal sheet on order, I'ts starting to come together now, should be able to primer coat the lid very soon. Got a few more questions to ask, I've looked at the 501 requirements regarding hero lids and I'm a little unsure, I think it stipulates that a hero should have two screws on the ear sections one above the antenna and one below. I've looked at various movie stills from ANH and there only appears to be one screw above the antenna, also should a hero have three bumps or four on the antenna ? As I'm prone to getting helmet sections wrong, I'm referring to the bumpy rectangular section which sits in the centre of the ears when I refer to the word Antenna. Cheers all and thanks again !!!!!
-
Thanks for that, I guess this isn't the correct area to ask but I'd like to show a more recent photo of the build so far but the two images I have, have almost taken up my attachment space, is it possible to delete the current images ?
-
Hi there, Looks like I've made a boo boo, I'm referring to the rectangular type shapes that sit above the brow, I thought they were referred to as traps, or trapezoids or something ? Sorry guys, Doh !!! Cheers all !!

Hi there all, My helmet build is progressing nicely, I've filled all big gaps and will be able to primer coat the whole thing soon, I've removed the fibreglass brow ( see images in my ' helmet build ' topic ). I've also got some hovi-mix tips on order. I have one issue though, it appears that my traps above the ears look small in comparison to images off the net. I was wondering, if I want my lid to be 501 acceptable would my traps have to be a certain size. if so, this would leave me with a bit of a quandary. I could either try and grind out bigger indentations or, fill in the said gaps and apply a decal over the top. What do you guys think ? Cheers !!

Hi all. I've dived in today and decided to remove the pre moulded helmet brow, it doesn't look too pretty at the moment but I'm sure after all the filling and sanding and then being able to add more authentic brow, it will be worth all the effort. Speaking of brows would any one know if its possible to buy a small amount of rubber strip (in the UK ),I've looked on line and it appears that you have to buy a role of the stuff. plus because of nature of my helmet, a u section wouldn't be any good, I would need to look at a solid strip of rubber to glue down. I'll post another photo when the helmet looks less messy. Cheers !!

Hi there, Just after some info regarding special ops helmets. I've checked out the 501 website and there appears to be a multitude of different helmet decals and lens colors e.t.c . It also appears from the images that helmets consist of a stunt frown with a hero low brow and bubble lenses. I was wondering if specials ops buckets can be created with a bit of artistic license or is there a set of certain rules to follow? Cheers guys !!

Hi there, I've posted a side view of the bucket, I know the cut looks scary but the dome was far too big, body filler will fix that plus a load of sanding. it also gives a view of the fiberglass brow that was already moulded to the dome. I've glued the ears in this position ,this is due to the fact that this is the only way they would fit. I should have said that the helmet was actually off Ebay uk it cost around £27 and being a fellow from the UK I'm not sure how that translates to US dollars. Cheers Guys !!!!!!
