2155TK[TK] Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 I am building my armor with ANH config. and trying to mod it as elite as possible. Are there any rules regarding the silver tape that i got with my FX thermal det? I see some of the guys have the siver paint/tape on, but some don't. should i use the silver tape to go for ANH? Thanks again and sorry for all the questions Quote
ThayNerd[TK] Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 I don't have them on my FX thermal detonator. I say go without them, looks more screen accurate. Quote
2155TK[TK] Posted April 16, 2009 Author Report Posted April 16, 2009 super thanks for the quick replies sirs! Noted! Throw out the silver tape! Btw Thayne, is your thermal det made out of 2" PVC? how do you open the end cap to use for storage? looks great! Quote

I have one end cap glued and the other has industrial strength Velcro on it, makes it easy to store stuff in there. I usually have my phone, keys, and money in there. Don't throw the tape away you can find a lot of different uses for it. Quote
TK-9820 Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 If you want to go for a bit more accuracy on the TD, just bend two, 4" pieces of metal bankers clips or other sheet metal strips to match the curvature of the canister. Hot-glue gun or rivet them to the undersides. They should look like they're cradling/supporting your TD. Making one end of the TD removable comes in handy. A can of Red Bull fits inside nicely. Quote
2155TK[TK] Posted April 17, 2009 Author Report Posted April 17, 2009 great red bull tip Thayne..how exactly did you place I.velcro on one side of the TD? Quote
ThayNerd[TK] Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 great red bull tip Thayne..how exactly did you place I.velcro on one side of the TD? The redbull definitely fits in there perfectly, I was right next to him when he put the can in the TD. Mine is setup just like Eugene posted, with bankers clips. Quote
2155TK[TK] Posted April 17, 2009 Author Report Posted April 17, 2009 I have one end cap glued and the other has industrial strength Velcro on it would you happen to have a picture of your TD with the cap removed? thanks so much for the help! I was planning on going for the screw-on cap.. but i see it's a bit complicated. would like to have a lot of ideas before i do mine.. btw i bough a couple of Acco Bankers Clasps. i think these will work well with my TD. If you want to go for a bit more accuracy on the TD, just bend two, 4" pieces of metal bankers clips or other sheet metal strips to match the curvature of the canister. Hot-glue gun or rivet them to the undersides. They should look like they're cradling/supporting your TD. Where do i place the bankers clasps if my TD has the bumps on the rear where the instructions say to drill holes? on the sides? or on the bumps? Thanks again! Quote
TK-9820 Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 I guess a picture would make things a little more clear. I have Tandy clips that attach the TD to the belt, but I have sections of bankers clips for the extra touch. Quote
2155TK[TK] Posted April 19, 2009 Author Report Posted April 19, 2009 now that's a clear picture, great mod! I think i'll do the exact same thing! Btw, is that the FX TD? how did you hide the seam across the TD? Quote
TK-9820 Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 It's an FX TD. I filled the seams and sanded them down prior to applying the primer. If you assemble it correctly, the TD plate should cover most of the top seam and the bottom seam would only be visible if you were standing over someone who was lying down. Quote
2155TK[TK] Posted April 21, 2009 Author Report Posted April 21, 2009 Great Job on the TD..i Hope i make mine exactly like that one! Cheers! Quote
