S-trim connecting point for TK helemts

I have an AP helmet and armor, and i am really happy about my entire armor setup.

 

That being said, I am having issues with my S-trim for the helmet. I bought some correct trim from this page..---------------

 

The only problem I an having is, 'which opening is attached to the helmet?'. Should it be the wider opening, or the narrow opening? I would assume that it should be the narrower opening, but i have seen some builds here that used the wider opening. I would think that using the wider opening would cause the trim to fall off more regularly during troops and such.

 

Am I correct, or am I wrong. Please let me know, because this is the last little bit to be added to my bucket for it to be complete.

Use the grove closest to the flat side, and flat side down away from the helmet.
