New to Boots.

I'm a complete noob to boots...and not just to boots for trooping. 

 

As a native Texan, I've never worn boots! Shame on me, right? 

 

Which boot company should I go with? 

TK Boots? Imperial Boots? Other? What are the real differences besides where they're coming from / price. 

 

I hear one maker uses more genuine leather than the other. Is this a good thing for trooping?...are they easy to maintain/ do they need special care?
