Found a few Ebay listings, need appraisal

Hey guys, after waiting a few years I am finally on my way to building my first set of armor! I'm extremely excited. I've already read all the getting started threads and sent messages to all armor producers asking for price lists, but I just want to know all my options and I want to see if these Ebay listings have any value to them at all.

Also, for my first armor, I am actually not going for the standard stormtrooper, I am actually making a zombie stormtrooper, or deathtrooper, so the armor doesn't need to be as accurate as possible, I just want it to be nice looking, relatively cheapish, and able to fit my small frame (5'7" 120-135). I just want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off. Thanks guys for helping out a newbie.

The bottom two links you posted are the only ones worth looking at.  MTK is Mike of Trooperbay.com, and CAP TK is 'Scootch' here on the boards (if I'm not mistaken?). Both are reputable sellers of accurate 501st approvable armor.  They represent the .5% of good stormtrooper armor on ebay.  The other three links you posted are the other 99.5%, the stuff you want to stay FAR away from.  They are either bad FX recasts, or sellers posting images of something other than what would actually get. Like the 3rd link, for example. The default photo shows a Master Replicas helmet while the rest of the images show a completely different, VERY inaccurate 3-piece helmet kit.  Major regrets if you were to buy one of those.  Glad you found the FISD before that happened! :duim:  So, MTK or CAP would be good purchases.  You can email Mike or Scootch directly here on the boards.   Good luck cadet!

Keep in mind that the deathtrooper is a very special costume and is not appropriate for many of the troops that children visit. Many people just made the dt as a second or third outfit

Oh definitely, I don't plan on attending events with that costume that have young children visit. The deathtrooper is more for my local zombie walks and other conventions. I will be getting a regular stormtrooper outfit pretty shortly.

I am actually making a zombie stormtrooper, or deathtrooper, so the armor doesn't need to be as accurate as possible, I just want it to be nice looking, relatively cheapish, and able to fit my small frame (5'7" 120-135)

Actually, your chances of getting approved should be much higher if your armor IS accurate. The Death Troopers are based off ANH troopers, and so must be held to similar standards. The only differences are the presence of weathering (and prosthetics if you choose to add them).

If you want to keep costs down, maybe ask around if people have broken parts they'd be willing to give away for cheap. I picked up a CAP helmet with a few warps/imperfections secondhand for about $60.

But yeah, if you're going to make a DT, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a second costume in the works as a backup.
