jannick Posted January 28, 2014 Report Posted January 28, 2014 Hope this is the right place to ask. Just got a couple of M38a2 scopes in the mail. But they still have the excess metal on them. Does anyone know the best, and safest way, to remove the metal without damaging the scope itself? Would post picture... But I have no idea how to do that. Thank. -Jannick Quote
jannick Posted January 28, 2014 Author Report Posted January 28, 2014 No matter. Just ended up springing(?) the spring. But if anyone reads this anyway. I wouldn't mind being directed at a good M38a2>M38 tutorial Cheers! Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted January 28, 2014 Report Posted January 28, 2014 The M38 a2 was not used in star wars, but you can reshape the scope with bondo to correct the shape. Quote
jannick Posted January 28, 2014 Author Report Posted January 28, 2014 Yeah I know. And I also bought a bucket of Bondo. But as I've never used the stuff before, I'm trying to find tutorial or something like that. So I don't screw up my scope Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted January 28, 2014 Report Posted January 28, 2014 one of the best ways to get the correct shape is to have a resin scope on hand to help you sculpt the correct shape. then you can always use modeling putty to correct any mistakes or add the proper texture. just mix small amounts of bondo and add in thin layers until you feel you have the correct basic shape. you can sand bondo too... so by adding small amounts at a time you can build up to the right amount. jannick Posted January 28, 2014 Author Report Posted January 28, 2014 Ok. I'll give it a go. I already have a real M38, so referencing won't be a problem Thanks. Quote
