Best Sheet Metal Thickness For E-11?

Hello all,

 

In my attempt in at making a scratchbuilt E-11, I am having some difficulty in finding the best thickness of sheet metal for it.

 

At first, I tried the thinnest sheet from Home Depot (forgot the gauge, sorry). Didn't work. At the slightest pinch, it would start to bend. Does anyone have any good ideas for the best sheet metal thickness?

sheet aluminum is sometimes too soft or brittle. if you're making a sheet metal blaster with folded steel

cutouts then there's some great information for you in this thread
