Jed Crandall Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 Hey, guys, pardon my ignorance, but I am new to the forums as well as new to the costuming thing. Long story short, I have been researching TK armor and have decided to either pick up a full set of AP armor or a set of FX armor with an AP bucket. I haven't really come across too many good links or E-Mail addys to get in contact with anyone who is selling said armor and I was just wondering if you guys had any good links or resources you wouldn't mind sharing with me? Also, I am 6'4" and I was wondering if this would effect the look of an AP armor set too much? I am fairly skinny, but I wasn't too sure if height made more of a difference than build when it came to armor. Any info/advice/etc. you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! -Jed Quote
Jed Crandall Posted May 31, 2007 Author Report Posted May 31, 2007 Also, would it be better to go with the RT as opposed to the AP if I am just starting out? I know the AP has to be trimmed, whereas the RT doesn't. I am new to this whole concept so I am just trying to get a jump on things before I make the purchase. Is the RT as good looking as the AP or is one more accurate? -Jed Quote

I'm 6'3'', got an AP armor and it seems most people think it fits me pretty well .. you can look into my gallery for more pics of my suit details and the suit on me. I think it fits me well mostly because I'm more or less 190lbs .. yes I'm tall .. but like you said, it's a lot more about the build then the height. Although, it seems like the RT is made for a little bigger build, I still love my suit and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world ----------- My 0.02$ Edited February 19, 2021 by gmrhodes13 link not working, removed gmrhodes13 2021 Quote

TK4999[TK] Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 No one else with any input? Jed, I agree with BigTurc. It really is all about build. At 6'3" even FX armor (which I wear at 6'6") will have some extra "black area" between calf, thigh and ab armor, so no set will really fit "perfectly" lengthwise. So it is more about your chest, waist, thigh, and calf measurements (circumference). The AP set is awesome if you have the right body for it (as demonstrated by BigTurc). The best thing to do is try on a set if you are lucky enough to know someone with one. I actually had a chance to try on some AP armor last week at C-IV. My roommate from San Diego had an AP Sandtrooper and he let me try out the various pieces. I confirmed my suspicion that I had the wrong body type for AP. Quote
