  1. Thanks Terrell! This piece of armor, has been painted for about two weeks ago, Do you have to wait for a time period after painting the armor, before applying the glaze?
  2. I have read to wash armor with soap and water before you start priming. What type of soap should I use? Liquid dish soap? Car Wash I already painted one piece of armor to try out painting. I used 1 coat rustoleum plastic primer and 3 coats of professional rustoleum gloss white. (the silver spray can) It came out good and it's shinny but not as glossy as I would like it. How do I make it more glossy? what type/brand of gloss should I use? Any help with this will be very much appreciated! Thanks, Dave
  3. Turtle Wax? I never heard of using turtle wax. I am on my 3rd coat of paint. It's shinny but doesn't have the gloss that I was hoping to get!
  4. I am looking for a place where I can buy sheets of white plastic, such as ABS, strlyene and such. I found a couple places on line, but before I buy from them, I figured I would check to see if anyone here knows a good place to order from for plastic needs. There is a local hobby shop near me, but they don't sell sheets big enough for what I need and they don't sell WHITE ABS, only black. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
  5. Hey Thanks, Why don't you look at it this way, Both Star Wars and yourself, Were in the making process back in 1976

  11. Here are pics of the E-11. I am going home for lunch, I'll take pics of the Hovis, more of the helmet, the shoulder straps to show they don't have rivets and an upclose pic of the holster.
  12. Thanks Chris! I will posting pics of the E-11 later this afternoon. I am also going home for lunch and will take a close pic of HOVI Mic tips. The only isssue I see if the shoulder bells in the back. I am thick in the shoulder area, I am ex- bodybuilder that hasn't touched a weight few years. I am not sure what I can do about the shoulder area.
  13. Hi, I am trying to post more pics but I have almost reached the limit for attachement space. What do I do? I don't have never tried to post pics here before and I don't have photobucket/ Can I email my other pics to a member such a Madmaritgan and have put the rest the up for me? if he is willing to do that. I don't want to break any rules.

  15. Hey Chris, This is a different set of armor, That I bought from a person because it had some yellowing on it. I bought the set cheap because I was intending to make a sand trooper out of it. Then I came accross a finished set of TM armor that was already made into a sand trooper, As you know I bought that set. The person that sold it to me says it is TE2 armor but I think it's a recast because this armor has yellowed pretty good in some places and I have never seen that happen so bad before to set of armor. It's either that or this guys did not take good care of it at all. So I decided to pracitce some painting on this set. After I paint it I'll probably keep it. You can never have too many sets of armor! I want to buy a new set of TM armor, but I want to practice first on painting. I have zero experience on painting.
  16. Thanks for the feedback. So it sounds like at this point I am still O.K. I put the 1st coat on last Saturday, I was planning on putting the 2nd coat on today, but it's raining out today off and on. Maybe Sunday will be a nicer day.
  17. I have never really painted much before. I bough some Rustoleum Plastic primer and the Rustoleum proffesional emamel White Gloss. The one is the silver can. I started with a piece of the armor. The chest piece I primed it, then I dry sanded down any of little bubbles, there wasn't much. After a few hours I put a 1 coat of the paint on it. It doesn't appear to be very glossy. Will it get more glossy after I put more coats of paint on or is there a gloss that I need to put on afterwards. Am I doing something wrong? Any help will be very much appreciated?
  18. Hey Super Trooper! Thanks for the info. I was planning on using chicago screws! I prefer to use these where I can, because they do make things easier to remove. I acutally used some chicago screws with some of armor assembly. I used to them to attach thigh pieces to straps and then used the chicago screws again on the belt that I wear to keep my things up. I just cut small sheets of stylene, punched holes in the strylene for the post and glued the post and the piece of strylene to inside of the armor. Washers are also very important when using these screws, just like rivets. when it involves fabric.
  19. Thanks Paul, This is exactly the kind of information that I was looking for!
  20. Hi, I just got a great canvas belt and a holster from a couple of memebers here. The holster that I got was ANH style and has the tan leather strips. I have a couple of questions on the correct way to mount it. The leather strap are attached to the back side of the belt correct? Where should I punch the hole on the belt, in the middle, towards the top or towards the bottom? How much of the tan leather strap should be showing, if at all? Accuaracy is imporatant because I'm on final stretch to submit my suit for FISD approval. Any feed back will be very much appreciated! Thanks, Dave
  21. So I went to Local hobby shop near me to buy acetone. I explained to the guy why I was looking for acetone and he told me to use this quick cure epoxy. So I bought that and I'll try it out this weekend.
  22. Thanks for all the feed back, It's not my primary set of armor, So I'm not afraid to experiment on it. But before I did I figure I would ask around first. I am going to try to apply the plastic weld very lightly to the crack in the front, then sand it down so it's smooth, I'll then prime and paint the enitre ab plate. Maybe I might discover something new to help any else out with this issue. If it doesn't work then I 'll just weather the armor to cover up this area and turn it into a sand trooper.
