  1. I have always gotten the error message while on my work computer, never at home. That has been going on for about a little over year now. Nothing has changed with the server change. Defiantly a user end problem from what I can see. I use IE at both sites, but I am not sure what version I am using at work.

  2. Well, I am 5'9" 220lb and fairly close to your measurments. My recommendation is RT-Mod. The parts are slightly larger than FX and in my opinion a more accurate fan sculpt. The helmet is the correct size and more idealized vice asymmetrical. I did have to shim the thighs, there was about a 1 inch gap also need a shim on the ab plate and that was about 1 1/2 gap on each side.

  3. I don't think it will be as hot as people imagine, but more like a motorcycle helmet. Plus I think it will help to keep the condensation down, so it might help keep lens fogging to a minimum since there won't be a layer of hot air between me and my bucket.

People who wear the FX helmets have so much room they could put box fans and AC units in their lids, but for correctly sized helmets this might be a good alterative. I just ordered one today to give it a try.

  4. That is actually one I made, but I'm happy to hear you think it's screen used :D

Looks awesome, I just figured it was a referance shot someone posted in the gallery. Now I need to go find a screen shot so I don't feel silly.

OK just so I have a actual screen shot this time. You can clearly see the rivets on the side, two rows of three with the bottom most set covered by the cavas belt. Troopermaster did a fantasic job on the ANH suit that is pictured in the gallery referance photos.

  5. Shaded are interesting idea, thanks, but is the riveting OK with Elite?

As a matter of fact rivets on the side are cannon. I got my Elite status back in November . Below is a screen used suit, a referance picture for our gallery here. So all those troopers without rivets on the sides need to step it up a notch :D

  6. Hey guys, since I'm a little wider than the average Stormtrooper, I need shims to close up the abs to kidney plates. Any ideas where I can get such things? I know I can get some sort of vinyl material, but I want to hit the elite standards.

    Thanks!

Really depends on how much of a gap your talking about, but a good location is TAP Plastics

I used 4" slats from a vertical blind to cover a 2" gap. That left me some overhang to rivet my shim in place. I am not a big fan of the Velcro due to the bulkiness it creates, but I do have one side with a Velcro closure to make the ab section like a big clam shell.

  7. Check the should have section for the white only straps. The "must have" is not intended to raise the bar for the Legion, it is meant to include what the current standard is. If you can get a TKID with black straps, black straps are included.

I did see that in the "should have" section. I figured if we were reviewing the CRL and since it isn't currently official yet, this is a great time to update it. All too often I see new troopers with the boxes in the wrong position I.E. in front of their thighs vice the correct location at the ends of the plastic ammo belt. I am not sure if this happens because of the FX instructions say to mount them with black elastic to the front or what, but this seem like the right time to change it? I don't think it is a "raising the bar issue", but more along the lines of correct assembly in the first place. Since the CRL will be used by new recruits as a guide putting their kits together and GML's for approving new Stormtroopers we might as well do it right. The way its worded now isn't specific on the drop box position other than "in the front" which is not correct. I don't think black elastic was used in any of the movies to attach the drop boxes, so again I see it as correct assembly vice raising the bar issue.

  8. I just got the Radio Shack mini amp, but it doesn't appear to work with an unamplified Mic (PC headset with a mic). I tried it with an MP3 player and it was pretty good. What type of Mic can be used with it and what model do you use?

You can use the Tie clip powered microphone from the same store or you can mod the board with a resistor to take a non powered microphone .

  9. I am 6'-6'1" and about 187lbs. Uuh... mostly muscle I guess.... I'm more built than anything else. I'm right now torn between FX and AP armor. (getting the AP armor no matter which kit I get)

I've seen countless topics and pictures on this matter, and various different people give me different answers. So I decided to start a thread about it.

Any suggestions or advise anyone might have for me?

It would be helpful to also give visual aids if you can. :D

A third option that you didn't mention, I think RT-Mod would suit you well also. It was molded with the larger trooper in mind and has an accurate helmet. The RT was an easy kit to assemble and the helmet came pre assembled and should be the armor of choice for anyone thinking their only option is FX for size. I believe the price point is right in-between FX and AP

  10. had a few hours spare so decided to do a few bits like straps and so on and finally attach my holster to the belt (from behind elite stylie) :o all goo so far........... but when you holster the E-11 the belt tips to the left has anyone come up with a soultion to stop this happening ?? ;) Or is it a csae of addin a snap to the right to hold the belt up in place. Or should a TK NEVER holster their E-11

Easy fix just add Velco between your belt and armor to support the weight of your blaster. As long as your not trooping with a MR or an all metal blaster you should be fine.

  11. i have been do some research and have already reacived alot of great info from you guys,thanks..but my quest goes on in finding the right kit first,,,Mr. Boozle had some great info on the RT Kits, now i wanna know what you guys think,,i am a big dude so i dont want to be stuck in a small kit, so i need to know as much info as possible on the difference between the FX and RT Kits, like i said i will be going Sandy and also go for MEPD, so want to do it right the first time,,,, to me the RT kits look way bigger from some pics i have seen on the forum ,, tell me what you guys think ,,......darkhammer out....

For what it’s worth, I would go with the entire RT-Mod kit. I too have a full RT set up and love it. It looks more accurate and the helmet is top notch (symmetrical) lots of people upgrade their FX lid to RT. The ab front and back will require less or no shimming to close the gap for elite ANH look. If you subtract the cost of the helmet there really isn't much cost difference between the FX and RT, just my 2 cents

  12. Thank you guys!!!! I love the TK, so I've tried to do it justice, even on a big guy like myself.

Boozel turned me on to RT and told me about the thighs. It's one of the biggest issues I have with my armor. No matter what I do, I can't get the area to shrink (sides of thigh to belt/butt). there is just so much black space there. Boozel let me know that his thighs are much bigger than say a TE/TE2 or other ANH armor out there. I'm going to have to give RT a try. I like the biceps too on the RT.

    Looking good Brad,

I too am a larger trooper and had some fitting issues. I have a full RT set up. On my thighs I mocked up the back of the thighs where the lower edge overlapped more then the top with duct tape. I trimmed a wedge shape piece off so the bottoms so they where more form fitting and less "barrel thigh" looking and rivetted my shim in place. The Velcro shim I tried first was just too bulky looking to me. Looks like you could do the something similar on yours.

Just a few other things I noticed about your set up.

The drop boxes on the belt should have a white strap and also be centered on the tabs at the end of the belt and not hang directly in front of you

    2412009117_fdc0078300.jpg

and on the right thigh/knee the part should be rounded along the bottom edge

I know the FX kit includes the metallic tape for the thermal detonator, but I am not sure if it is screen accurate? Just curious what method did you uses to attach your butt plate?

  13. My main issue is with the left calf. The plate it flat against my knee cap. Without the thigh on, I can move.

    My question:

If you've had this problem (the plate to knee issue), how to you solve it?

I'm thinking I'll just take a 1/4" off the bottom, test fit, repeat until it feels good or the plate is down at my ankle

I had a similar problem with my knee plate. I just applied a little heat with a heat gun and with even pressure angled the knee plate into a better more accommodating angle clear of my knee cap. I didn't have to move it to far. Your description also leads me to believe that your thighs might sit too low cause the plate should be right at your knee cap

Thanks to all for the super input. I will go for a FX armor and build it myself.. I guess this is a part of the journey of becoming a Stormtrooper :-) I have already ordered a MR CE helmet.

How much should I expect to pay for a good FX armour?

    here you go--------
