  1. The belt that I have is from a set of SDS armor and I'd like to keep all the pieces to it if for nothing more than the sheer expense of it. If anyone has a lead or an idea where I could get just the belt or if someone has delt with modding this set of armor before, please let me know. thanks
  2. That's right. Thanks Mark.
  3. I'm currently waiting on a canvas belt from firebladejedi and I've been looking around for purely the ABS portion of the belt, but haven't been able to find anything. I currently have a belt that's completely ABS, so unless i can remove the front portion without damaging it, I'd like to just get an extra. If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it.
  4. I checked the average temperature for late February and it looks like it always hovers somewhere between the high teens and mid to high twenties. With that in mind, it shouldn't be too bad. If it ends up being as cold then as it is right now, I'm bailing. I'll do something inside, but after camping in sub zero temperatures as a kid I have a personal oath to spend as little a time as possible in weather that frigid.
  5. I am pretty used to the cold having lived in northern states for the past sixteen years, but -10 is pushing it, especially when one's adorned in a plastic shell. As for the weather, I'm really hoping it'll be warmer by the end of February as January is usually the coldest month of the year for us.
  6. I live in Anchorage, AK and will be joining the local garrison for a parade later next month (which, coincidentally would be my first real trooping experience). The issue that concerns me is the extreme cold we're experiencing at the moment. Now, the weather shouldn't be as cold in February. As of right now, we're looking at about -10F. Obviously I'm going to be wearing some heavier thermals than usual, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate the input. My gloves are rubber chemical gloves; under which I'll be wearing glove liners and I'll most likely wear a balaclava under my helm.
  7. wow, thanks for all the input everyone. i'll take all this into consideration and mull it over before making my decision. once i decide and start the project, i'll keep everyone advised of my progress.
  8. I'm looking at which set of armor to purchase this summer. I currently have a set of SDS armor and I've received ordering information on AP armor, but I'm wondering ( as I can't find the link) which armor is the most screen accurate. I'd like to put my own set together. Primarily because I think it would be fun and also to support those who contribute to this hobby. I already own two helms and two blasters, but as many of you already know, one is never enough.
  9. I got mine in yesterday. It's pretty nice, but there are some definite flaws to it. The biggest thing was the green bubble lenses, but a set of grey lenses were sent so they could be switched out if anyone cared to. It's rather pretty to look at and i really like the heft to the helmet, but i wouldn't troop in it. The lenses fog over really quickly due to the padded insert and also it would just get really hot for the same reason. I'll post pictures if I can.
  10. felt inclined to mention bands such as Portishead, Massive Attack, King Crimson and to those who "hate" rap, I was the same way for quite a while until I started to hear some outstanding hip-hop whose lyrics are poetic and not self glorifying parodies of themselves. These include Sage Francis, Mr. Lif, El-P, Busdriver, Del tha Funky Homosapien, Aesop Rock and Cannibal Ox. If you really don't like it, you don't like it, but I've found that there's always something to prove me wrong and make me rethink my preconceived notions. I used to despise country music, but that's because I only heard mainstream modern country and had never listened to Johnny Cash, Hank Williams or any other classic country that's as far removed from that stupid "angry american" song as humanly possible. just my thoughts, thanks
  11. even though i have my own armor, i'm extremely jealous of this kid. i would have killed for armor like that to play around in. all my costumes were thrown together from whatever i had in my closet.
  12. i don't have a favorite style of music/band per-se, but there are several bands i'm pretty faithful to, such as Radiohead, Tool, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Sigur Ros, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Woven Hand/Sixteen Horsepower among many others. I also love classical music; particularly Mussorgsky and Rachmaninov.
  13. Thanks for the input, guys. I was acutally considering them if I decide to go for an officer's uniform, but that won't be for a while; at least not until I finish my TK. I did get a neckseal from TK409 which I am very happy with, it's far better than the pvc one that makes my neck sweat.
  14. Very lame. It all looks very nice, but that's a bit of a wait.
  15. I was wondering if anyone has heard of these sellers or any experience with their products. http://www.shadowdalecreations.com/imperial.htm
  16. Right, I know what they are, but I was just wondering if anyone w/stormtrooper armor, primarily in the 501st or otherwise decided to accompany their TK role with the officers uniform.
  17. I"m just wondering if anyone has gone so far as to creat a service dress uniform as well as the battle armor. By this, I mean all black unifomr with riding boots as seen in the Tantive IV corridors by the officers speaking with Vader. I mean, stormtroopers can't always be wearing all that plating.
  18. I just got my armor and i noticed the only thing that really seems to be a promlem is that whenver i walk around for any period of time, the shin armor slips up over my boots and makes walking extrememly difficult with the shin and thigh armor now rubbing together. Anyone have any suggestions?
