I like to get a spotter to do up my chin strap..

Yeah, I call BS on that. There's nothing in the CRL saying where the ear screws are positioned other than top and bottom of the grey bumps on the stunt. The UKG guys should know that, and given the amount of UKG guys that wear RS themselves there should be no problem on the ear part.
As a UKG Armourer I concur.
Tell Mark he is wrong and include as many pics to prove it as possible.
if that fails bring it to Gary (89batman) or one of the cheif armourers ( cough Billhag) attention mate.

I'd be willing to assist her if she ever decided to upgrade.

Do you guys think that legion staff will say anything?
Sadly no.
The Legion has a very weak stance on recasting that leaves a bad taste in a great many mouths.
This is where the FISD has always bucked the trend and taken a firm position against them , and been vocal about it.

My deepest condolences to his friends and family.

Looks like you had a fun troop.
Nice looking TK but my hat has to be doffed to the proto Fett.

Most Haberdasherys (sp) should be able to source what you need.

Why does anyone want an eFX helmet anyway? They are inaccurate and expensive.
I would have to concur.
Given the far more accurate helmets created by fans these days, and at comparable prices, quite why MR is so popular amongst the costuming community eludes me.
-
There was a time that if you wanted a RoTJ suit this was the way to go armour wise ( the helmet has always been a throw away job) despite the amount of rework/modification required for clearance.
Thankfully since the CFO suit has become available the Rubies TK , like all other incarnations of Rubies Star Wars costumes, has become fit only for the trash compactor.

Ohhh.
I see what you did there. ;-)
They will have to nix some numbers.
TK 8008135 anyone?
I meant of course TK80085
One day I need to learn to count.

No worries. There are only 10 kind of people of the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

TK 8008135 anyone?

Jimmy , you have hit the nail square on the head.
A good balaclava will help you keep cool not make you warmer, providing as Billy so rightly said you don't go for a 100% wool jobbie.

Welcome to the FISD mate.
First thing I would do is sign up to the Uk Garrison forums:
One of the armourers there will be able to assist you with advice on both armour prices and which is likely to be suitable for your needs. Between the armourers over there and the wealth of advice here I'm sure you will be kitted up in no time.

Wow, it's threads like these that I am glad I found this website. I was just about to order from jedirobe when I started looking more into the 501st website which lead me here. With all the research I have been doing I now thankfully know better and have decided on RS Props armor, which I think will make me much happier. Thank you all for you research and dedication, you all have saved a rookie like me.
Another one saved.

Humbrol works for sure.
Chips off occasionally but that just adds to the lived in look.

Martin Walter, Hon Member of the UKG, makes some very good neckseals indeed.
I can pm you his contact details upon request.

Hi Josh,
As I said, I am also on no-one's side...I am here to be convinced. At the end of the day, the original armour bucks are long gone. AA readily admits he reworked/sculpted the armour bucks anew, whichever point of reference he may or may not have used to do so. All subsequent original (ESB/ROTJ) and fan made armour derives from HIS originals.
Worst case scenario: He made the originals. They were copied. He copied the copies, or the new sculpts of those trying to emulate his work.
I'm surprised AA's detractors haven't done something more scientific than comparison photos to prove their plagiarism claims. Strikes me as funny that people don't believe that the man who made the originals would not have kept them or their skins...More likely he had them than didn't. Is that such a leap of faith?
And to those who say he didn't sculpt the originals...even Brian Muir readily admits that there is no evidence to disprove his claims. I invited Mr Muir to comment on the "facts" I listed on a previous page of this thread, to no avail. I was particularly keen to hear his views on the point I made about the convenience of GL crediting a tragically deceased sculptress with sculpting the stormtrooper helmet and learn how he managed to remain ignorant of its authorship until just before the court LFL/AA courtcase...
Furthermore, no-one has explained away the inferior prototypes that AA sold at Christies. Why did he make those if he had the perfectly formed "terracotta" sculpt to copy?...regardless of its author. Could it be that it was accidentally destroyed as he has claimed? Likewise, why are NP and AA mentioned over 100 times in JM's sketchbook while BM and LM are not mentioned once? Anyone....?
Regardless of how he arrived at his new bucks, he has the ultimate USP...the original maker, making them in the very place the originals were made. Certainly carries a lot of sway. No argument there, then...
I'm guessing Brian chose not to embark on a battle of witts with you as you are unwilling to listen to anyone with a differing opinion other than yours, despite your claims to the contrary.
Or maybe he, like I, finds the level of arrogance you display as some one new to the subject yet tottaly unwilling to listen to those VASTLY more experieced than yourself both distastefull and ultimately tiresome.

If you look at the other auctions and the listing format it's clear that it's another of AM's accounts on ebay just like sitharmor.
Then the question should be asked:
If they/he is such a stand up seller why the need for multiple Ebay acounts?
-
However, the two options that nowadays tend to rise to the top are the RomFX and the Aker/iComm. Having heard both in action, either would make an excellent choice.
Of the Acker Amps I have personal knowledge of in the UK, a large number have had tech/mic issues and have spoken out on how they wish they had bought a Rom.
Just sayin........

that is not even a 77/78 i have a Don post and it doesn't look anything like that.
Thats because ( if it has lenses and such) its a later model and not the 70's version.

Thank you. I would love to know the tricks of spotting these. If anything just to avoid making posts asking what everyone thinks about them.
Simple answer?
Research.
If your like most of us you have a raging desire to armour up and money burning a hole in your pocket.
Ignore it for as long as you can.
Search as many threads as you can on here to find the best armour for both your build and your needs. During this research you will soon learn the basics of identifying the poo from the shinola. If not then do as you have done: post a pic/link. No one here will begrudge you for doing so.

Here's mine from 1983 next to my RS Props bucket.
The Don Post has been smashed a bit over the years, but I loved it when I got it for my 13th birthday!
Looks like middle age spread has affected not just me but your lid also. Looks more like Jabba than a TK lol.

Cleanability isn't a massive issue for the foam weed leaves.
They're very cheap, so you just rip them out and replace them once they get stinky.
I never even bother to glue them in. Get the size right and they stay put by themselves.
Real easy to remove then.

And John is a stand up bloke too.
Drop him a line, you will not regret it.
