  1. So far I've made like 10 runs the various stores for various things, I've bought the following... - Rivet gun+rivets - Snaps ( 20 so far ) & snap tool - Industrial velcro - elastic nylon strapping - ruler - wooden sticks ( for mixing glue ) - 2 tubes of 5 minute appoxy glue - super glue - 2 drills, ( 1 regular, 1 artist drill but you really only need a regular one ) - screw drivers - ratchet set - suspenders - painter tape - exacto knife - belt clips - grey spray paint - silver mylar - wooden cuting board - clamps - small strips of black leather - sandpaper. - metal screws - lots of beer
  2. After spray painting the back of the Thermal detinator grey I drilled two holes so I attach the belt clips. I used metal screws to attach the belt clip to the back of the TD. Here's a shot of the back with the belt clips attached. I bought the clips at Tandy Leather. Thanks for the tip Charles, they worked out perfectly.
  3. I have a question about the thermal detonator. I've been looking through the Elite status requests at some of the photos of the thermal detonators. And it seems that they are being painted in two ways. Sometimes they are silver sometimes they are grey. I was wondering is there a right or wrong way or are both acceptable...see below... Anthony TK 3390 Silver Chris TK 6744 Silver
  4. Thanks Charles, once again there's a store located near to where I live, I'll check it out tonight. Cheers.
  5. Thanks Paul, I'll do that. I checked out the Office Depot near my house and did'nt find any money clips, I also checked the local Wallmart as well and found nothing. I'm not sure were to check next, I'm at a stand still. Any more suggestions would be much appreciated. 16 days until the Toronto Fan Expo. That means I have 16 days to find these money clips, complete the armor, get accepted by the 501st, and make contact with the Toronto garrison. I'm not sure I'm gonna make it.
  6. Yes, as a matter of fact there is, there's one about 10 minutes from my house. Thanks missingpieces. I'll check it out tonight.
  7. Any idea were I can buy money clips ? not sure what store sells them.
  8. I used industrial snaps to attach the ABS belt to the canvas belt. Here's a picture of the completed belt ( front only ). The battle is of course only half over, the canister still has to be attached to the back. This is were it will eventually sit. If I can ever get the damn thing done. I took me three hours to attach to ABS plastic belt to the canvas belt. I would like to know how everyone is attaching the canister to the back of the belt. I still am not sure which is the best way to do it. Any idea's would be much appreciated.
  9. The armor looks amazing, well done David, I'm currently working on mine. I can't believe how much time is involved.
  10. Looks fantastic Kory. Amazing job.
  11. I bought the heavy duty snap fastener kit at Fabric World. It comes with 10 sets of snaps, which should be about as many as I need. I cost me $5.25 including tax. RT Mod also includes an additional 6 sets when you buy the armor. I started working on the snaps tonight. These are the straps with the snaps attached, they will keep the shoulders in place. I used the idea from Dave's Garage video on Youtube to attach the snap to the armor using two peices of velcro and some appoxy glue. That way in the future if I want to replace the snap it can be removed easily. Thanks Dave. I can't believe how much time is involved, I spent about four hours yesterday working on the shoulder straps and the suspenders.
  12. Fantastic armor Berry, well done. Right now I'm struggling a bit with the webbbing on mine. I want it to be a simple system so I can get it on and off easily, but strong as well.
  13. Started working on the webbing. The Chest, Ab and Cod will be linked useing a combination of velcro and buckles. I got this thick black velcro that comes attached to a plastic buckle at the dollar store ( 2 for 1 dollar ) It's fantastic stuff.
  14. I also love the Saints as well, I got family in Slidell. After drilling a hole in either side of the Thigh armor and also in the knee box, I once again used rivets to attach them.
  15. Drilling holes in the Thigh so I can add the Knee box.
  16. Ahhh....Cool, there's a Dive Shop right around the corner from where I live. I'm gonna go check it out. Cheers !!!
  17. I'm nearing completion of my RT Armor, I bought some Nike spandex track pants the other day and I have a thin black turtleneck I'm going to were. Does anyone have a recomendation for a pair of black glooves. I want them to be made of a thin material so they are cool, but they also have to be durable. Most of the events in Canada are in the summer so its going to be hot.
  18. There are distinct inner and outter halves for both left and right. Just like on previous parts, I used appoxy on the front and velcro on the back. This next part made me extremley nervous because I aint what you'd call a handyman. After drilling a hole in either side of the Shin/Calf armor and also in the sniper plate, I used rivets to attach them, I put washers on the opposit side to make sure they stay nice and sturdy. I was so sure I was going to crack the armor, and make a total mess of things, but as fortune would have it, everything worked just fine. And here's what it looks like...not to bad if I do say do myself.
  19. To join the chest and back armor, RT's instructions say to use ABS glue. I decided against this and used velco instead. The shoulder straps won't have to carry the weight of the armor when its done. I've decided to go with the suspender idea I saw on Dave's Garage this will provide the suport I need.
  20. I finished the forearms, not much different than the bicepts used Apoxy glue on one side and velcro on the other.
  21. Wow glad to see you fully functional again Mark. Take it eay for a while before you start troopin. Cheers !!
  22. Thanks all...Ok I decided to start with an easy peice so I did the bicepts tonight. I used Lepage 5 minute Apoxy glue on one side and velcro on the other. I was watching Dave's Garage video on Youtube while I worked . I tryed to buy the apoxy that came in the syringe but it was totally dryed out and hard as a rock so I bought a second one and it was the same . I could'nt squeeze it out. So I went back to the store a third time and bought the glue that came in two separte tubes as seen below... They turnned our perfectly no messy glue marks at all. So far so good... Tommorrow I'll do another peice.
  23. As you can see my Armor arrived last night and I could'nt wait to unpack it. There are many peices and it gonna be tough trying to get it done in one month. Its packed very well in lots of plastic wrap so it does'nt get damaged during shipping. It arrived in perfect condition.
  24. YIPEEEE!!! My Armor arrived yesterday. I'll be starting a new thread tonight as I start my build. Because there is only a month untill the Toronto Fan Expo. I think I will have to use all velcro ( no snaps ) to save time. I'll fix it later.
  25. That is one mean lookin helmet Mike. Cheers !!!
