  1. My shins sit fairly high on the boots (secured with velcro) to avoid a big gap by the knees. I can’t avoid the gap between torso and thighs. At 6“2 and 220lbs I am at the maximum circumference for thighs and shins. I think the RS armor is great. At 6ft+ you just have to manage the gaps so it looks the way you want.
  2. Hi, Request access please. TK 15592 https://www.501st.com/members/searchresults.php?searchfield=15592&criteria=tkid
  3. Approved! TK 15592 Yay! Thanks for the help!
  4. My favorite is the outtake where they all fall over each other entering the cell block. Ammo belts falling off and everything. My pictures are up in the pre approval section. 501st Garrison approval is next and then hopefully some trooping pictures soon. I agree with you that the imperfections of the armor are part of the fun.
  5. After some experimenting I am quite happy with my current solution. The top button is on elastics and connects to underneath the shoulder bridges/shoulder elastics like the original. The bottom button (on a non elastic strap) connects to the thicker elastic strap which runs over the shoulders underneath the neck seal flaps on my back. This strap keeps the shoulder bells in place and pulls them back into place after moving the arms around. As far as putting everything on is concerned, I tried the technique mentioned above. Both arms first (holding in place with the connecting strap) and then put the main body armor on. Works great. All I have to do is to connect the upper buttons. This is a lot easier than trying to connect the arms after the body is already on.
  6. Thank you, Glen. Great inputs!
  7. Should be working now. "Direct Link" in Imgur is now called "BBCode (Forums)"
  8. A couple thoughts/words about my build journey. This is my first build and I have no previous experience with building suits or props in general. I went strictly by the RS Propmaster youtube videos to put the armor together. That was a lot of fun with a few moments of frustration. I ordered the helmet separately fully assembled because I did not want to rely on my skills to put this vital piece of the armor together correctly. Due to my size I pretty much had to built every piece to its maximum size. The shims to cover the gaps on each side are just APS plastic pieces that I cut out and placed in between the front and the back plates. Ultimately, my goal is to loose 20lbs and make the armor fit without them. Right now this will have to do and could probably use some improvement. My shins are sitting fairly high on my boots. This is on purpose and secured with velcro. Without the velcro the shins would rotate out of place and either slide up or down. If I put the shins all the way down, what would be preferred, the gap around the knees would be too big and proportionally larger than the gap between the abdomen and the leg armor. In order to make everything look symmetrical I decided on the "shins ride high on the boots" option. The only thing I changed on the helmet was on the padding on the inside. I removed a layer of foam to bring the helmet down a little bit.

  10. As I am finishing my armor (I am super excited; I will post pictures in the Pre-Approval thread hopefully soon) I am also wondering if there are ways to improve vision with the bubble lenses? Has anybody tried to play around with attaching lenses/glasses on the inside to neutralize the distortion caused by the bubble lenses? It would be nice to see things. The more I finish my armor and wear it the more I appreciate the actors and stuntmen in the movies who wore them.
  11. I just received mine. Hopefully, my data points are not too late. If so, maybe others can benefit from them. Shoe sizes are always painful for me since I seem to have a different size with every manufacturer. Fortunately, I picked the right ones with KeepTrooping and they fit perfect. Ok, here we go: I am a European 44. In Adidas I can wear a snug US10 or loser 10.5. I am a 11M in Johnston and Murphy boots. 11 US in Brooks running shoes. 315mm in Technica ski boots. I ordered a 11US 45EU 421 and it fits perfect. They are very snug and maybe a little bit long. Meaning I could have probably gotten away with a 10.5US for length but there is no way a 10.5 would have fit me because they would have been to narrow. I think 1 size up if you use EU sizes is a good call. The US sizes seem pretty close to true fit but they are narrow. In general the shoes feel and look great. I am thinking of attaching velcro so the shin armor stays in place. I also need to put the shins higher than desired on the boots since I am 6.2 tall. If I slide the shins all the way down I create a big gap by the knees. I rather have the shins sit high (which is not that much noticeable since it is white over white) than the large black gap by the knees. Hope this helps. Good luck with the shoes.
  12. Thank you very much! I just signed up and will go through the topics on what to do next and how to join. My shoes arrive tomorrow (and hopefully fit). With that I can complete my suit. I am happy to move forward. Thank you again.
  13. Thanks guys! I appreciate all your help! I am using the same email I use here: [email protected]
  14. All I see is the Banned screen. When I click on the LOGIN or SIGN UP on the homepage it directs me right back to the Banned screen. When I first started to try to join a couple months ago it would not let me sign up either. Back then I thought I had to be a member first to join the site. Interestingly, something similar happened to me on this (FISD) site. I had been trying to sign up many times and it would always say "You did not pass the security check (or question)". When I purposely put in a wrong answer it would say ("wrong answer to security question"). Only when I directly posted a question in a forum topic (Shoulder Bell Attachment) I was able to actually submit my request for membership. At some point I submitted a message to the Mountain Garrison via the "contact form" about how to contact the GML. But I did not get a response. I have no idea how these forums work or how they are run but maybe there is a glitch.
