  1. I hover around 165 pounds and 5'10". A bit of a gut but not considered overweight. I say twig arms and legs. Bart
  2. Too late. Already have an order in with AP so either it fits or it doesn't I guess. I won't be building it myself. Mark didn't seem to think my measurements were a problem and we discussed it at length. Bart
  3. I could wish for that. Bart
  4. Cord on the blaster so as in you have electronics in the blaster you are amplifying? Do you find any issues with the wireless mic and delays that are weird to hear? That would be nice to have zero wires between the chest and helmet for sure. So then to add to the questions, what wireless system is a good match to plug into the Aker? Bart
  5. Is there no sound on the video? Bart
  6. Thanks guys. I felt embarassed and stupid for letting the OCD get out so it feels a bit better knowing I'm in good company with that. I took some time to breath and let it settle down so I could see the bigger picture again. Bart
  7. At the risk of heading down another OCD rabbit hole I've started reading and thinking about voice options. I think for myself it will be the icomm system and Aker amp. Correct me if I am wrong, but the amp can run an aux for troop chatter off a player if so desired while at the same time amplifying anything I say through the icomm. Correct? I thought I might try having the icomm in the helmet and the amp and mp3 player in the chest just to distribute the weight. My main question is, what is the current thoughts on throat mics? Seems to be a lot of older posts saying they are better, but from what I am searching those posts are at least a year old so what is the current state for a mic either regular or throat mic that I should be considering? I find a ton of mics on Amazon so hard to know which works with the icomm with no fit issues. I will order the icomm in the next day or two and the Aker. For other projects I have tried 2 different mp3 players that were just crap so if there is a decent on out there please point me to it. I might want to use it for other stuff I'm working on too that needs an endless looping ability. Thanks. Bart
  8. Sorry, you've all been unintentionally subjected to my OCD which is not something I wanted to show. Since I cannot properly articulate this I'll just thank you all for your suggestions and move on. Bart
  9. I can live without the phone on me. I hate them at the best of times anyway and don't need it going off in the middle of anything to ruin the illusion. I am always concerned about leaving my wallet anywhere. Same with the keys. A secure area would be okay if it was really secure. I'd probably still try to find something with a pocket that is hidden just for peace of mind. That goes back to the original question though. What is in Canada to order that has a pocket location that works? Where are my other countrymen here? I have one local store I thought of last night to try yet, but I'm pretty sure it is all logo stuff they have there. Bart
  10. Cool! I checked out your picture and you seem to be missing that dad bod that I'm trying to rock here! lol. Maybe more guys are hiding that then it appears. It's one of my concerns to be sure, but in about three months I will see how that all pans out. Bart
  11. Perhaps the best option of all. Bart
  12. I'm assuming if the sound system goes in the front then there is no room left for a pouch? Really I just need to be able to carry the usual crap around with me. Wallet, keys and phone. I don't want to be a pack mule. Pants pockets seemed the easiest solution. Down the road once I am comfortable I might want to cut into the TD or open the drop boxes for stuff but not just yet. Bart
  13. I'd say you take the prize for storage and you can come reorganize my closet space too! That thing in the front of the armor may be the easiest. I am trying to figure out how to have the voice changer system in there somewhere too. Bart
  14. Oh that does give me an idea. I have time, I just like to get things done sooner than later. Bart
  15. Yeah, I found the cheap ones I'm using for fitting purposes locally, but no pockets. The better ones are slathered in logos. I also don't live in a big city so options are extremely limited. Ordering from within Canada is my preference just for shipping costs alone. Bart
  16. No not cheap and I expected to pay for a bunch of one-off stuff such as boots. Undersuits though, that's a bit different. They aren't hand sewn or that special or custom fit so I have to whine about $190 for those particular ones. (the horrific exchange rate doesn't help). I'd prefer to spend the money on other needs to get a quality product such as the blaster I ordered which just is plane sick it looks so awesome! Bart
  17. I can't figure out how you guys get your heads in with all that stuff! I tried on a helmet a few years ago and barely got it on or off and I didn't think my noggin was that big! I'll have to aim higher I think than what I had planned for it. Bart
  18. Thanks. I looked at that one today. It was about $190 Canadian until I get it here. Hard to justify as it was more than the boots. I have cheap ones right now (which I do not think will last) for the initial measurements I took and for fitting/adjusting purposes, but they have no pockets so eventually I'm going to want something better. I just don't know if $190 will be the better. Bart
  19. I'm just looking for a logo free undersuit pants and wonder if pockets are better on the hip or on the leg or? I'd like to have pockets, but realize they can't be visible so in which area are they covered properly? Bonus points if you have an Amazon Canada link to ones you know are 501st approved. Thanks. Bart
  20. Hold my beer. I'm still in the somewhat shell shocked mode of this. Can't believe I ordered armor. Small panic attacks because I ordered armor.l That sort of thing. I've ordered a blaster now and boots. I'm getting the neck seal arranged so all these little things that can happen are happening There will be a big gap now until things come in which will be hard. I've forward looked into 2023 and events that will be happening near me that, fingers crossed, I'll be able to be one of you and involved with them. That's a bit scary to think about, but also exciting. I'm still picking through a lot of this board just trying to get more of a feel for the vastness of it all and to not be a total noob at some point. So yeah, scary, exciting, expensive, crazy all wrapped up into one right now. Bart
  21. Yeah it's my orthotics that concern me. They can mess with inside spaces in footwear. I don't want to have to start trying to remove parts of the boot or the orthotics. More half sizes would have helped so really in an in between spot. Bart
  22. Since the deposit is in I have turned my immediate attention to everything else I'm going to need. I'd like to get in on their Sept wave (although one more month would be fine I just want to get things done in plenty of time.) Everyone says to get one size bigger. OK. If I buy a regular pair of shoes I usually end up with a size 8. If I use one of the old school measuring things at the shoe store my toes are at 8.5. I have to squeeze orthotics into whatever I get. It's not an option not to or I will be trooping for about 2.5 minutes at a time. So size 9 because there is no 9.5 or ramp it up to a 10 which seems like will be way way too big. Anyone else stuck with orthotics or any opinion? I'm online now asking about shoes. Never saw that as a thing in my life. Bart
  23. I've been shopping today... I want to ensure everything is here when I need it to be here. Bart
  24. Well it's done thanks, in no small part, to a number of you here on this board and Wook1138 in particular who answered a few hundred questions privately I am sure. I was able to make up my mind for good this time. I put in a deposit with AP this morning. I'm still leaning to ready-to-wear. Yikes! Scary and exciting at the same time. I'll try to take it easy with the number of questions I have running in my head now. I'll try to space them out! Bart
  25. Yes, "winter storage area". Much better. It's a gut winter storage area, but it falls in the more "dad bod" variety. Not so so bad, not so so good, but it sounds like the AP armor is going to be well suited for the belly button circumference I have. This will give me a reason to get out and do some walking to get into better shape. I wasn't as motivated a day ago. I'm going to commission this though. That's one area I wish I had the skills to do myself, but I am also realistic on my skills. I hadn't considered that I am going to be walking around in underwear and plastic. Ok, that is still a bit strange to wrap my brain around. Good thing no one can recognize me then. I'm a character at that point, not myself. I'll remind myself of that. Bart
