About Me

Hey, my name is Tom Tilmon.  My TKID is TK-74759, although my dream was to add the TK designation in front of that number.  I joined the 501st in May 2017 with a Kylo Ren TFA Build.  My life-long dream was a TK...why I built a Kylo sometimes befuddles me; however, I do like the character.

I have joined these forums initially in 2017, and stalked build threads/videos for years. I finally decided to get rid of that big box full of untrimmed armor in February 2023, and built my TK in 2023.  My armor was obtained in Garrison from Intergalactic Supply.  I was approved for ANH Stunt TK in May 2023, after quite a bit of debate about the recast accusations on IGS.

I realize the accusations against IGS, and have read about them; however, the accusations made on FISD against IGS stem from a fellow Carolina Garrison Member that was wanting to Partner with Jason, and that deal went bad.  So the FISD member that levied the accusation on FISD had personal animosity towards IGS owner Jason Hill.  That is political BS.   IGS has outfitted almost every Tie Pilot in our Garrison, and many of the TKs.  I personally know the owner, and frankly I don't believe these accusations.  "Prove Me Wrong".

No offense, but coming from the Kylo community and everyone was casting dispersions on everyone else about recasting Anovos helmets, including being critical of BS custom hand built mods by Richard Campbell!  Richard Campbell was modifying heavily the structure of a BS Helmet with his own sculpting and fiberglass work, and then they leveled the "recaster" label on one of the best prop makers in the industry! You can't re-cast a BS helmet into Anovos, but those accusations were being made all over, and the sad part is that many in the costuming industry were levelling these accusations to steer more business to their own companies.  Some members of these detachments use this label to steer business to their friends, in my opinion, the use of these labels has been corrupted.  JJ Industries was damaged by this BS, so were numerous other talented makers. So, therefore my opinion about "recasting" accusations are show me proof of the "recasting".

Labeling someone by pointing a finger without proof, hard photographic proof, is nothing more than political BS.  In the United States, we hold that the accused are innocent until proven guilty, not guilty until proven innocent as many of these detachments treat them!  The 501st Legion was founded right here in South Carolina, USA by Albin Johnson and Co.  That is all I have to say about that.  I think anyone who makes anything from Star Wars is a "recaster", whether its lightsabers, armor, helmets, comics.......if you aren't Disney, George Lucas or one of his minions that made all of the movie magic we love so much, you ARE A RECASTER!

TK Armor:  Intergalactic Supply  (Yeah, yeah, see above.)

Belt:  Sewn by me

Shoes:  TK Boots

Neckseal:  Trooper Bay

Voice System:  Trooper Com (formerly MiCom)  I invented the MiCom system, but my partner and I had major falling out.  Now he is quitting, so I am contemplating mass producing the new units under a different name.

Blaster:  3D Printed Sterling with ANH Add-ons and fully operational prop with Proffie Blaster Prop File!!!!!  My Blaster Thread on FISD

When I built my Kylo, I didn't like my saber (Black Series), so I gutted it, and installed my own electronics.  Everyone that saw it was so amazed, that word about my work quickly spread, and then my life went crazy off the charts building custom lightsabers for 501st Legion Members all over the world, and then spread to non-Legionaires.  Megtooth Sith Sabers is the name of my lighsaber company, I helped to pioneer neopixels (videos on youtube to prove it), and also helped foster in the Open Source Soundboards:  TeensySaber and Proffieboard that were the first to implement smoothswing algorithms (videos on my channel prove this as well).  So, I think my contributions to the lightsaber community are very significant, and I can bring those skills to bear here on FISD with blasters.  I'd much rather help people DIY than build them for someone, and that is the legacy of my youtube channel.  Megtooth Sith Sabers Youtube Channel

I'm a 30+ year law enforcement veteran, currently upon the precipice of retirement, as of this writing.  I bring with me 30 years of exposure to big city LEO problems, chaos, life-threatening events, death, and destruction.  I enjoy costuming, because building these is a coping mechanism of sorts to take my mind off multiple trauma exposures over the last 30 years.  If you don't like LEO, I make no apologies for my chosen career path to you.  I look forward to the potential time savings retirement may bring me to allow me to build more!  Its exciting stuff.

I look forward to asking questions, and constantly improving my kit, and I appreciate any help I can get with the processes.
