  1. Great idea! And I like the sound of "Sharpshooter"! Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  2. Yeh, I took a quick look earlier at the reference. Can't even work out how to remove the latch, not without busting the thing up! I'm thinking maybe a can chop into the barrel, something like shown in the picture below, to get enough space to work... Will have to work up some courage to do though first haha Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  3. Ahh see this is why I need you guys! Hadn't thought of that at all lol Will take a look tomorrow. I was thinking I could chop the end of the barrel off and work from the inside, perhaps add a little aluminium lip for it to latch onto. Your idea is a much more sensible start though! 4. Alrighty, over one hurdle and onto the next. So I've managed to get the receiver tube part off... with great effort! Lol. There are little pins which hold the bolts in place, thing is, they are tough to get out. The first was easier, I lined up a nail with the pin and hammered it till it stuck out. Still couldn't get it out with pliers from there, so tried drilling through the hole. This worked for the first one and I got the pin out eventually, but wore down the drill bit completely on the second! After about an hour with the dremel I finally got it off hurrah! Problem now is where the front latches on. The barrel on the Doopies is thicker on the inside than I suppose an actual Sterling is, so latch can't fit it. Wondering how I can reduce the thickness so it can hook on. The depth on the latch itself is probably only 4 or 5mm. Also, if I do manage to reduce the thickness on the inside of the barrel, how well it support the weight? Any thoughts/strategies would be much appreciated! Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  5. Thanks, Jesse! Yep, that's the same stock from Apexgunparts. Thanks for the link too! Hardest part will be getting the received tube part off, seems punkkass11 had similar problems! Managed to get mine cleaned up well with some very soapy water though
  6. Brilliant mate! Will have a look at the link later Managed to clean it up a bit, it's easier to give a bath to the cat! Lol Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  7. This beauty arrived today! It was clear that customs had been poking around the package though, just glad it made it through! It looks like it's been taken off an actual Sterling, not one that was used for... well.. what guns are used for I hope lol. It's covered in thick grease at the moment, so will need a thorough clean up before I can get to work on it. Can always apply a little wd40 later if need be. Will have to work out how to get detach the part between the 2 prongs... maybe just take a hacksaw down the middle? Could probably even use the original bolts then too (though they wouldn't go all the way through) Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  8. Yep, got that fillled last night. Will give it a little sand down later and it'll be ready for painting! Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  9. Woop! How's this looking Tino? Think I've pretty much got Shape A... need to fill a few bits, was tricky already having the resistors attached Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  10. Will have a go at that today! Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  11. Cheers mate! There really are some incredible builds out there, I'm not sure mine qualifies as one by a long shot, but they've certainly inspired me to go the extra length! And I wouldn't even have got half this far without the help of all the other guys, you won't be alone, so big thanks to them! Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  12. Cheers buddy! Just hoping the extra bits come soon so I can get started on the kit... might have to leave the kit till new year though, things are looking busy Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  13. Busy couple of days but managed to get a little work done. Finished off the power cylinders (yay) and also the front sight Started painting a few more bits too, though I don't have any pics of these yet. Nothing major, priming the charging handle, end cap, end cap clip. Almost at a roadblock actually, I've got some aluminium on order for the counter bracket, should be here Monday. And I've got a real sterling folding stock on its way too, god knows when that'll be here though lol On another note, it's BBB day! Thanks to Ross (RWA) for the kit, and his excellent work on the lid, much better job than I could ever have done! Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  14. Little more work done tonight: end cap completed with a nice cubby for the D ring and holder to sit in. The circular groove is a little wide at the moment but will sort that out with some green stuff once glued into place. How is it looking? Ready for glue? I assume I've got it the right way up! Haha Also a little work on the front sight: by the time I'd separated it out of the one piece block you get with Doopies, I had to build it back up again with green stuff. I think I've more or less covered the same dimensions as the Doopies was, though I've taken the sides down lower to place the little grub (which goes on the right... right?). Still to make the little grooves on either side Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  15. Think I'm definitely gonna pinch the idea to round off the edges if the channel, I was thinking it looked a little blocky and angular... but that's as far as my thinking got me lol Thanks the for pointer too, Dan, good move! Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  16. Updates! End cap clip now done. Cut the original clip itself out of the holder, and after a lot of sanding, got it down to the right size to fit in Tino's aluminium holder. Nearly drilled the holes too wonky, as usual lol but got the nail through in the end haha. Also installed a bit of spring left over from the trigger into the back of the clip. Drilled a hole of about 4mm for thi's so the spring actually just sits in nicely and is held in place by force rather than glue. Little more work on the power cylinders too just installed the nuts and bolts on the ends How's it all looking? Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  17. Ahh this is the stuff! Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  18. How are these three little bears looking? Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  19. Ahh nice one! That helps a lot, been trying to figure out what to do with the textured cable for ages haha I'll have to have another look at that link, I looked before (on my phone) but it seemed to be about sound effects and lighting... I'll check it on my pc Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  20. Thanks Tino, it's a relief to know it's going well! Great idea RE using the brush, yet another thing I hadn't though of! I'm wondering if anyone has some nice shots of their power cylinders? From a few different angles if possible? The links in the Blaster Reference Guide don't seem to work so I'm trying to work out what goes where...
  21. Thanks Jesse! Don't jot anything down yet though... better wait and see if the plan works first haha Cheers, Brien, I'm really looking forward to the painting, gonna be another learning curve though, my only experience painting is doing some DIY decorating for the old dear!
  22. Alright, I think the scope is just about done. Hollowing now done, had to file out the a little on the smaller end by hand just to get the small lense a snug fit. You can just about see the target reticle in the photo I think, pretty hard to get a picture of it! Looks much better in the flesh, honest! Lol The big lens is sitting a tiny bit off centre at the moment, but I'm hoping to put something down the side to centre it better, then I can fill in any spaces with green stuff and it should all meet up nicely. Just trying to work out the painting plan though: think I'll start just by spraying some paint down the inside of the scope to black it out. Then I can install the big lens, do the putty etc, then go for the full spray and lastly stick in the small lens [emoji4] Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  23. Thanks Tino, I was actually wondering if I should cover them with a little clay or not, you must have read my mind! Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  24. Today's updates: started work on the power cylinders, chopped down to 23mm each, rounded them off a little bit and getting ready to green stuff the wires on. Scope: started hollowing this out yesterday, but had a wee problem with the space bits. When sizing down from the 25 to the 20, it started to go off centre. This was probably just me being me but oh well lol. So, stuffed half the hole with white stuff, and redrilled today, much straighter! Drill is charging up at the moment so couldn't quite get it done haha I actually hollowed it the full way through, meeting at the other end. Scary stuff really! Will have to redrill through again but that'll be easy as the hole is already there Mag: installed magnets here. Filled it up with white stuff to do then later drill holes for the magnets as the mag was hollow. Thing is, it feels a little... liable to come off... Will probably put another pair of magnets in... Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  25. Cheers Jesse! I was wondering whether I should go for that on or not... it seems like such a simple thing to do but can easily go wrong! Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
