  2. Armor update! I've been running into some trouble scaling down pictures to meet size requirements here but I wanted to let you all know where I'm at for now. Pics to come! Since my last posting the following events have taken place: -Lenses received from Trooperbay and installed -Also received black chemical gloves from Trooperbay and I've E6000'd straps to my hand guards. They fit snug and secure over the gloves. At a later time I'll upgrade to latex guards. -Started trimming posterior armor to fit me better. Mainly cut away excess from the areas that will meet the backs of my legs. -E6000'd shoulder straps to the chest piece. Waiting my standard 24 hours for the glue to cure. Once cured and secure I'll be purchasing white strapping to attach the chest and back pieces so the shoulder straps can free float. Once that's accomplished I'll be attaching the shoulder bells and moving onto the bicep armor.
  3. Thanks buddy! I've got a folder on my computer packed with reference photos and guides, which I'll be using heavily. I'm stocked up on E6000 and am actually pretty good with scoring and snapping since I've used the method to build hobby models. I've started trimming the shoulder straps a bit, and luckily my armor purchase came with two sets in case of a mess up. I'll definitely be focusing on the arm and leg armor primarily at the build party, but also will be working on getting the chest/back/kidney etc. armor lined up and spaced properly to ensure a correct fit and make sure everything sits where it is supposed to sit. But yeah, this site is full of amazing info which I'll be referencing during and after the build!
  4. My build thread! Here goes, My armor is TKUSA, my bucket is Anovos with Trooperbay lenses (soon to arrive). Build party for the armor to happen soon! Bucket pics below! I've lined the interior with two coats of Rust-oleum leak seal rubber undercoating. Worked like a charm! Frown mesh was recycled from the original Anovos mesh, trimmed and secured using electrical tape layers. The ANOVOS stock brow trim was very loose and I couldent secure it with E6000 or hobby glue (suggestion?) so I replaced it with the TKUSA brow. I trimmed the eyeholes back a bit to fit the lenses. I trimmed one eye a bit more than the other to give it the ANH "rushed to produce" look. All suggestions, comments, questions very much welcomed!
  5. No the lenses aren't in on that picture, bad angle. But the info you added is perfect! I'm ordering a lens strip from Trooperbay. And thanks for that thread link! I think I'm going to keep the lenses in place using the putty method. Thanks again buddy!!!
  6. Here is where I am at this point. I tried to get a decent amount of light into the interior so hopefully its clear. I was planning to trim the lenses to a symmetric shape but the one I trimmed smaller (on the right) still doesn't seem to want to stabilize. I don't mind a little gap at all, the original gap was excessive though, I wish I had a picture but I didn't take one of it unmodified.
  7. Hey all! So I've been very committed to accomplishing my build and have made quite a bit of progress since my last post! To sum things up Ive got my armor (TKUSA) and my bucket (Anovos). Armor is coming along and it looks like we are going to have a build party in the next month or so. Bucket is moving along with mods as well. I've coated the interior with 2 layers of rubber undercoating, replaced the frown mesh, and my padding/velcro will be arriving any day now. The last thing on the list are the lenses. So the bucket I purchased (3rd party) came with a single lens, essentially one long strip, and does not sit anywhere close to flush to the eyes in both the cornea area and the corners of the eye. Trust me its not even close. So I scored the lens into two pieces and took off a bit from their edges but the fit is still just not right and when fitted there is obvious stress on the corners pulling away from the helmet. So my question is what is the best course of action in this scenario? Would it be better to purchase replacements that specifically fit Anovos, and if so any recommendations for sellers would be great. Or, do I work with what I have and use a specific method to secure the lenses to the helmet? Apologies if this is covered in another thread! If it is please redirect me since there is sooooo much stuff on here (which is a great thing)!
  8. Awesome! I'm getting my armor this coming Tuesday from a vetted local vendor. So I'll start building at that time. Good news for my build is that the bucket comes with decals so that should take care of that specific, and I'll be doiing the painting of the frown. The armor is for ANH TK so I'll have to pick up are acceptable gloves (which is fine since it doesnt come with soft goods). and the belt/holster. So yeah I'm on my way and am looking forward to starting my build thread and sharing with you all!
  9. Actually I just found another great thread regarding ESB specifics. Though it mainly focused on the helmet differences (Black frown and decals), and the holster. So is it just me or does the body armor itself look a little different that ANH armor (I know ROTJ is much different than both)? Almost seems like the shoulderpads angle off a bit more leaving more of the black bodysuit visible, and the cuts of the thigh armor looks a bit different that ANH cuts as well. Also, would the TK helmet offered by Anovos be acceptable with minor paint adjustments to the frown, and decals over handpainted areas? It says that it is based off of the ANH helmet so I want to make sure that the size and symmetric aspects would be acceptable as ESB.
  10. Hi All! So I'm pretty much set on the ESB TK as my first armor build. I was wondering if anyone here has any advice as to where would be some good places to look into purchasing my armor kit? I've been looking at Anovos as an option but have heard that there can be long wait times with them. Does anyone have any decent leads for alternative sources that would be good for an ESB build specifically? Aside from a good armor source, has anyone else here done an ESB TK before? From the looks of the info on the costuming database the 501st standards for ANH, ESB, and ROTJ look fairly similar aside from some paint differences (especially bucket wise) and the holster. But I've always felt that the ESB TK armor, especially in the thighs and shoulders had a sleeker sharper look to it. So it seems like trimming and fitting differences might also come into play to achieve the ESB TK look? Thanks for any advice!
