  1. TK-61937 Requesting Detachment status update http://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=22866
  2. It's been far too long since I last updated here. Many things have happened but I guess that my big news is..... I'm approved!! Oh, and I have also moved to Hawaii from upstate NY. Huge thank you goes to my friend Dave Conklin, I would still be trying if it were not for you! What are my next steps here as to becoming a full member of the detachment and access to the forums? I also am looking to start the process of getting Expert Infantry and eventually Centurion status. Thanks
  3. It's been a little while since I've updated on my progress. I've been busy in the real world (how rude of them!) so I haven't made a whole lot of progress but here are a few things: Helmet's almost done, just need to get the white paint for the screws (and a few touch ups) The forearms are done and I am working on the biceps now
  4. So I have another question... I asked this question in the TK Armor's Costuming Group on Facebook but I also want to ask here as this community will guide me towards what is acceptable for Centurion . I am assembling my the helmet. I followed Eric Dyck's videos and am almost done, as shown in previous posts/pics. I am at the point of applying the tube stripes when I noticed that my tubes are different lengths. I found that the problem is that I attached my faceplate slightly off center. It is not noticeable when you look at the helmet right now. However, once I put the tube stripes on it will be a bit more noticeable. If I put the same number of stripes on both sides the right cheek will have about a 3/8" gap between the stripes and the ear. The responses I got on FB (from AM & Eric among others) was to not worry too much about it, wonky is the way of the TK. I was told that it is not uncommon to have a different number of stripes on each side. My question is this acceptable for Centurion level? Should I take it apart and re-assemble? Or am I being too much of a perfectionist?
  5. Thanks everyone for the input! Now back to the build as soon as I get over whatever I caught at NYCC
  6. So back to work after New York Comic Con... Starting to assemble the left forearm and I have a question. When I fit the pieces together in the way that make sense the cuff is not a straight edge, as you can see in the pic below. Am I fitting the together incorrectly? Do I fit them together so the cuff is straight? Do I fit them together the way that seems correct and sand the cuff straight? Or is this just something that doesn't get worried too much about and I am being too much of a perfectionist? I don't want to screw it up ...
  7. Not much at all. I took a bit off of the notch at the top & sanded down the curve a little so that I could get it to fit the helmet a bit closer
  8. Steve - here is the better picture of the frown. I intentionally did not paint more than what you see because I was unsure on how far out to paint. That was going to be one of my next questions.
  9. Steve, I didn't realize that I didn't have 501st status, thanks for catching that. I have a better pic of the frown, but I am unable to post anything. Where it is telling me to drag files to attach, it is also telling me that the max total size is 0.09 MB.... When you said go a little more, did you mean painting or file/cut the teeth?
  10. Hello, Requesting 501st status: http://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=22866 Thank you
  11. So I am putting the detailing on the helmet and I have a question: The CRL says: Is there a "correct" number for Centurion? I don't think that my tubes are long enough to hold more than 9-10... Also, do my ear screws need to sit flush with the ear?
  12. Can anyone share a picture of of how the teeth should be painted on my stunt helmet. Specifically I am looking at the ends of the frown. I've looked at quite a few EIB submissions and there seem to be different approached. Is there a way that is "more" correct? I am shooting for Centurion so I want to get this right. Thanks
  13. Ears attached. Looking at it I think there is too much of a gap, but that may just be me being picky.... Tried to attach a picture but it won't allow an image over 10kb....
  14. Hey, I thought I'd share my progress as I start the build of my TK. Although this is not my first armored costume (I have a TS), it will be my first time building a kit. I received my BBB a few days ago. I carefully unpacked and unwrapped all of the parts. I am waiting on a few tools to really start work but feeling that I wanted to do something I grabbed the faceplate and started to sand out the teeth. As I was doing this I noticed something about the right eye. There seems to be a bump about 2/3 of the way along the bottom edge of the eye. Is this right for a Stunt? It seems, looking from the inside, that it was molded this way. I've included a couple pictures of the face. It could be that I just never looked closely at a stunt TK helmet, but I never noticed this before. I want to make sure that this is right before I go any further. Please feel free to let me know.
  15. Thanks and no worries! I didn't realize you were and admin here or I would have messaged you! Just waiting to hear back from TG. Yeah Olaf is that nickname/callsign I want to use across all my detachments/characters. Working on getting that changed
  16. Hi, Olaf here. I am finally starting to look around for a TK kit. I was discussing it with my CO and he recommended I contact Trooper Gear for a set of AM/AM2 armor. If I am going to do a TK I am going to shoot for Centurion right from the start. I saw in the CRL that AM chests/backs are not acceptable for level 3. Based on the email I received from TG they are now producing AM2 which according to him are completely redesigned to be more accurate and acceptable for all levels of approval. My question: Would I be able to get approved at Centurion level with AM2 armor? Specifically the chest and back? Thanks in advance
