It’s been 5 years since I last Trooped as a Stormtrooper so about damn time! 😄
I’m the toshortforastormtrooper in the back, why o why do I always get to stand next to 190cm + guys……

Yeah the downside when altering the size. I have an idea that should make it fairly ”easy” but we shall see

Helmet all glued up, not pretty but does the job , also added first round of filler.

Helmet partially glued, added some spacers and there’s now enough room. Still very snug but wearable.

I got some work to do, man that’s alot of pieces
It’s also too snug and my eye lids are actually touching the visor when I blink…well don’t blink then 
I’ll ad som spacers to make the helmet bigger and if it’s a miss I’ll get my friend to print at a larger scale. 
Had to do the TK-twist to get it on, that was a pretty fun trivia thing.

Both a minor and a major update so to speak
Elastic is in, I bought two shades and one was a pretty good match.
Got side-tracked with another cosplay so haven’t ordered the armor yet and probably couldn’t have anyways as Imperial Surplus have had some trouble with their shop, fortunatly they seem to be getting back up, more so for them than me obviously.
Anyway, this is what my ”damaged brain” randomly decided to do a few weeks back
Ehh what’s that..not a Stormtrooper costume is it? No but a sort of Stormtrooper you could say

Helmet
I’m going with this version of the helmet:
Bought a file from etsy and a friend is printing it for me, he has a smaler printer so it’s going to be in 4 main pieces (bummer).
It’s pretty good but I can see a few areas were I will try to make some changes, if you don’t see it you will have to wait untill the helmet arrives
ArmorArmor is going to be ordered from Imperial Surplus when they get back up and running. As far as I know they are the only ones providing the Concept Armor.
Soft goods:
Grey 2 piece undersuit came today and it might be a little too light of a shade but I will see if I’ll dye it darker when the grey elastic is in hand (so they match).
Still looking on a few options for the gloves.
Not sure if I’ll try to source/make a grey neckseal or just go with a grey balaclava (already have that in hand for my Fett).Boots
I’m going with this for boots and plan on painting the soles grey:

There’s a saying that ”in the end you go back to the beginning”. That is fitting for this build as it most likely will be my last Stormtrooper build. It’s based on the concept drawings by Ralph McQuarrie that started the life of the Stormtrooper.
Althoug the design changed this is were it all started.
I would like to dedicate this build to Dan (Cableguy). Dan’s love for the OT Stormtrooper are well known and I would hade really liked to have him with me on this one. We built our Stormtroopers (me a Hero and Dan a Stunt) at the same time and somehow got to talking via pm’s and became friends. We were also D.O’s together for a period of time. Anyway…as he loved the OT TK I’m thinking he might have enjoyed sharing this experience in building a Stormtrooper based on the first drawings of what later turned into the iconic Stormtrooper.
This one is for you Dan - you are missed

I think so too. You can get helmets from others though and they look a bit different but similar to the different drewings made by Mcquarrie. So as long as the helmet looks like one of those it would be aporoved? Perhaps add those variants to the CRL?
I’m going for this helmet.

The various types of armor and where to find them UPDATED 2023

The first pic is from the movie, a Sandtrooper, and the other is a pic of a cosplayer. Unless you get a helmet used in the movie it’s going to look different. And even the helmets made for the film didn’t all look identical. However, by the looks of it the cosplayer helmet is an RS propmasters helmet with means it’s a copy of a screen used helmet and as close as you’ll get. Why then, does it look different? Well, depending on how it’s put together, and also in what angle the photo is taken is going to change the look of the helmet. It is also, as you say, depending on were you get your helmet from, if someone is sculpting based on photos or have an actual helmet used in the films to make copies from. As an example, I could make a sculpt and sell helmets and say it’s an ANH helmet but it will not look like the ones in the movie 😅
Another ex, from the movie, both are ANH helmets but look very different, the one on the left beeing a Hero helmet and the one on the right is a Stunt helmet.
