  1. So I shimmed my thighs to fit my leg girth, but now I need to trim the overall length so that I can actually bend my knees and not have my shin armor rubbing against it. Is thier any thing special I need to consider on how to make it shorter while still keeping it within requirements for basic approval?
  2. I ran into the same problem you are having. I had to heavily shim the thighs because mine are larger. I have a thread going with my progress, but it is a huge pain and it is taking me a while. I added a shim behind the pieces then placed a shim over the top of that to fit between the two ends. I ended up using a slurry made from scrap to fill in the gaps and am currently sanding that down. I contacted Anovos to see if they have a paint recomendation for match color and they said no, take it to a paint store to see if they can color match their ABS. Here is a link to my shimming progress to see if what did may help you or not. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/38921-anovos-anh-thigh-shim-help/
  3. I did some more sanding today. Does this look like it could get to initial entry acceptance or am I wasting my time.
  4. I am kind of stumped on how I can sand all the excess abs paste away and clean it up to look like one solid piece. I asked Anovos what paint they would recommend and they couldn't either. I just don't want to have to scrap this and start over. Frustrated.
  5. So I placed the back shim and then a fill in strip using scrap, I also made a slurry from cut up scrap and used it to fill in the gaps. Right now the color does not seem to match at all.
  6. So I am still working on my kit and I am having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to shim the thighs so they fit and finish them off. I am not technically inclined enough to add repair plaster and sand and paint it so I am looking for another way to finish these pieces and have them acceptable for initial entry acceptance. My issue is I needed to add large shims to each side. Someone suggested that I use velcro to close them instead of using glue to make it a solid piece. If a cover strip is required then I don't know how I can add it without it being huge or looking terrible when compared to the rest of the armor. Any simple solutions would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Looks like I can't upload the last two pictures do to size restrictions. =(
  8. Hello, I am currently working on my first build. I have never done anything like this before and have basically followed the instructions from Anovos for the kit to assemble things, while getting tid bits from online to get some stuff together. I would say I am about 70% thru with the build, but have hit a bit of a road block. I am a bigger guy. 5'8" 240 lbs. Right now I am trying to size up the thigh armor and it's just too small, same thing with closing the gap for the kidney armor, and my calves are a bit large as well. I am trying to figure out how to properly adjust these pieces to be a bit bigger without compromising the look greatly. My chest measure 50", waist around the hips 48", thighs 28", and calves 18" Considering I am in Alaska, I am having a heck of a time finding places that carry ABS plastic or even some of the more basic stuff like industrial Velcro. So any reliable place that I may need to order from to get parts would also be helpful. I intend to replace the Velcro with rivets and what not once I get the thing sized properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to working on this with you guys. Thanks, Jake
