  1. Well....Its here. 2 years and 7 months waiting. I'm going to attempt a build thread here to document my progress and maybe help some others along the way. I'm a noob so I'm sure I'll be learning just as much as well.  I will be building this for TFA and NOT TLJ so there will likely be some mods along the way. Also, I will be putting this together using a mix of the Anovos instructions which can be downloaded from the website and Ukswraths build thread. (A staple in my opinion) Since this is an upgraded kit, there will be plenty of differences. Feel free to chime in with any advice. I promise to respect and treat it as just that. Advice. Thanks in advance!!!  Ok.....so.....Here we go!!!!

While we're on the subject of gaskets - I'd like to get the quality non-Anovos set that most of you are talking about.  Pinky's gaskets are the ones to get right?

I mean since Anovos gaskets are delayed and from the pics they appear to be cloth (not rubber) I might as well.

I am also one of the folks who ordered (and received) the TFA helmet from Anovos when I pre-ordered what was advertised as the TFA armor kit. Who sells a nice TLJ bucket kit? Looks like now I'll need that too.....

In regards to gaskets. I'm definitely hearing Geeky pinks are the best right now. Also just as an FYI. I have heard rumblings, speculation, etc. That the TLJ gaskets may in fact be cloth or fabric gaskets.

  3. Ok so here is my dilemma. I ordered an Anovos FOTK. It has shipped and will be in my possession this Friday.  Based on pics from Anovos and another recipient of this kit, it appears to be TLJ.  My helmet which I already have, is TFA. So now I'm worried that I'll have to either buy a new TLJ helmet and try for TLJ approval or modify or source new parts to get approved as TFA.  I was really hoping to be able to get approved in this kit at least at basic with my current helmet. Sounds like though, if the CRLs are going through updates, I may end up having to just buy a new helmet and shoot for TLJ approval.

  4. I have a question.  I have asked this in another forum.  I am asking around and I know much of this depends on the GML when it comes to approvals ( I am inquiring with local GML as well ) but,  In regards to TFA and TLJ ( FOTK )at basic level approval.  It looks like per the CRLs that the only difference at basic is the helmet.  Is this correct?  If so, could one possibly be approved as TFA at basic with some TLJ parts and TFA helmet?  For example....TLJ cod with TFA helmet.

    Copy, you're correct.

Depending on your skill level, it would probably be easier to pick up a TLJ helmet than try and modify any armor sections.

    Well let's see....skill level 0 lol.

So I guess the brass tax question for me is....based on the current CRL, and seam issues asside....Is it possible to be approved as TFA at basic level with this kit as is and a TFA helmet?  Or do I for sure need specific parts switched out?

Hey Greg you've come to the right place. Just for clarification, are you saying you've received one of the latest Anovos kits and the helmet and body are different versions?

No. My kit will be here Friday. I ordered the standard because I already have my helmet and all soft parts. But, my helmet is TFA.  Been stockpiling pics from Anovos, Celebration and from Javier's unboxing so its pretty obvious the kit is TLJ.

  7. I'd like to get some feedback regarding direction for building my Anovos FO TK and shooting for 501st approval. So the Anovos appears to be TLJ specific and my helmet is TFA. Looking through the CRLs, at least for the moment, I would obviously need a TLJ helmet to shoot for TLJ but, I don't see anything other than seam issues that would keep me from being approved as TFA at basic level. Maybe the forearms and cod? But even the CRLs don't specify those differences yet. I do have a set of KB forearms that I will be building to switch out just in case and will probably source out a cod as well but, for now I'm just trying to get a grasp and a feel on what to shoot for out of the box on this build. Any and all insight is greatly appreciated.

  8. You are absolutely right. In fact, the chest plate and abs on my armor flexe the most out of every other piece. Mostly when suiting up and down. This stuff is super flexible and I will for sure be using a spray gun instead of a rattle can and automotive paint and clear coat with a flex agent. This is locked in. Now if I can just get all the other little annoying details fixed and get it ready for the paint process, I'll be a happy camper. Right now I'm just a little overwhelmed and slightly annoyed. So...I'm channeling my inner Little Engine that Could....I think I can, I think I can...

  9. I've repaired a few surfboards and water craft toys in my time. Fiberglass resin products are best suited in this case. I would contact a boat repair facility or Tap Plastics and see what they recommend. You need something that is strong yet flexible.

Yeah I'm not too concerned about that area being flexible. It is pretty stationary at least for the most part. As long as I can get it shaped right, thats all im worried about. Was thinking I might have to go behind and lay down a little cloth and resin to help reshape it but, didn't know if there might be an easier way with an apoxie sculpt type of material. This will be a bit of a challenge. Only other option is to order a new chest plate from Jim. Trying to not have to do that.

  10. Tony, I have one of Jim's kits. Second hand. It's all flexible fiberglass and the chest hole was not given the care it needed to be just right in my opinion. Basically I'm a detail freak and I gotta fix it lol. So I'm gonna gave to at least partially fill it in and redo it in order to get it right. Just not sure what material to use to sculpt it back into shape.

  11. Well after a ton of research, it has been advised to add a flex agent to the paint and clear coat. So....thanks to a couple friends, I now have access to a compressor and paint line. Looks like I'll be shooting this with automotive paint and clear coat with a little help from some friends. Hopefully it will save me tons of headache in the long run. Hoping and praying.
