A couple more shots. "plain" full body shots with pauldron (we also did them without, so they might follow )
And then there was this moment:

It was cool seeing the new suit up-close and in the flesh. I'm no authority on the details of the First Order armour but you've clearly done a fine job on the fit and finish and you seem to have good mobility.
You see no end of costumes which seem to be built for anyone but the actual wearer, so this is a nice change and very easy on the eye.
Thanks again for helping with the approval pics! No one else could have captured the essence of this moment so well. Tea towel TK!

Very nice! Do you use a second helmet for Finn's bloody helmet or is it photoshopped? Either way, congratulations to your finished build.
Is this the Anovos armor?
This is a second helmet, indeed. Here's a less artsy shot of it:
And yes, it is an anovos suit.
I love how you notched the forearms! Finn's style and replica spirit .
I think you're the best fan First Order stormtrooper I've seen. No matter what others might think.
The forearm mod helps a lot with mobility, so on top of being accurate, it's also functional - win win!
Thanks for the high praise! I did put a lot of effort into making it the best I can, glad people think it paid off!
I'm actually about to add a 3D printed sidearm based on your file to my setup And as soon as Derrek is done with his F11-D blaster casts, I'll also build one of those as well. Not that I don't like my JJ blaster, it's a pretty solid kit as well!

Hi guys!
So I finally managed to get my TFA TK finished and approved last week, after quite a long build time. I didn't rush it, as I had no chance to finish it in time for the premiere, so I took my time with it - and I think that paid off. This was one of my pics sent in for approval:
To celebrate the finished project (apart from some of the gadgets that I will still be working on), I had my Garrison mate and photographer do some studio shots of me in the armour. While I'm still waiting for most of them to be ready, here is a small selection that I feel is worth sharing with you guys, hope you enjoy them as much as I do

Most were CGI. huh? Wonder what they made all those suits for, then...

The snaps that come with the anovos kit have not much in common with the ones used on the original suits, if that's what you're asking. So if you're not aiming for accuracy, you're free to choose whichever snaps you want, as long as they do the job.

Nope, (heavily) modded anovos fiberglass lid. I am finishing the mod on my injection moulded helmet today, taking approval pics of the full suit tomorrow.
And unfortunately, this was just a staged shot, not a permanent display. Would look pretty cool though
I do have one of Derrek's lids here as a kit as well, so that will be on the workbench for finishing soon... I am a helmet addict I guess

Soothing... yep, it definitely is Here's some more related eye candy I'm sure you FISD folks will appreciate:

This needs a timely bump to remind us all what an outstanding job R2Dan did, and show just how poor the Anovos helmet is for those out there who like the authentic look.
Just enjoy this thing of beauty!
Thanks for the praise - this is one of my very favourite pieces in the collection.
Besides not having the bumpy surface the anovos is really close in comparison to an RS helmet more close than any other helmet from say ATA MTK or AP.
A lot of people would beg to differ on that opinion.
I am one of those people. Seeing they copied RS, they did a pretty awful job cleaning up the lid and making it work for mass production. That messed up frown, the strangely straightened eye frames... oh my! I'd pick the original replica (no pun intended) over the anovos offering any day.

The blaster connects to the holster with two screws in a keyhole system. There are no clips used, What exactly are you referring to?

I want to know what love is and I want you to show me!

it's not a bad thing, no - but I wouldn't pay that much for a MovieFX lid. As Haui says, you can get better helmets for that price.
-
The second one is a MovieFX lid
-
The left is not an original. It is also an anovos produced helmet.
-
Thanks Juan - it is one of my favourite pieces in my collection. I recently had the chance to take it to Star Wars: Identities and compare it to the stunt helmet on display there. Pretty darn close... probably the closest I will ever get to the real deal.

Roman's sabers are ace, but they're replicas. Not real parts (although definitely the best reproductions out there )

While 5000 quid for a MR saber is ridiculous and that guy is pretty much a maniac, I dare you put together an Obi saber made of all original parts for £1000. Good luck with that
The "emitter" piece will probably eat up 80% of your budget or more, if you can even find one
-
No idea, to a licensed collector maybe. It is not the most accurate helmet out there, more of a history piece
-
The MR collectors are a different breed for the most part. They don't strive for accuracy, but for licensed high end pieces. The smaller the edition, the more likely is a price increase. Even if you can get more accurate fanmade pieces, that's simply not their focus.
To them, it is worth it - and with Episode VII on the horizon, you can expect price hikes on the more poular items as well.

Yep, Don Post deluxe Stormtrooper.
-
There are no accurate plans with measurements, as the design doesn't exactly lend itself towards blueprints. If you want to sculpt your own and want it accurate, you'll have to do your own research I'm afraid.

April 1st guys...

Score and snap works fine on PVC, just put some elbow grease into it (or score more than once).
-
it's not a crazy huge gap, you should be able to get it close to what we see in the other pic

Welcome aboard
There are a couple TFA Troopers here in the Ruhr area already, most of them do not frequent this forum though. If you have any questions, you know where to find me
