Lets trim a helmet and put it together. Sketch it out. Drill those holes to prevent cracking Ok, trim it up, and start fitting it together I am doing an ANH Hero, so I have to have that 'serious' brow. These boys aren't here to play. Test fit, it looks good Tape it up to clamp it up. Not shown are the clamps. Pop rivet that bad boy in place. Don't forget your inside washers! Next up, ears.

Ok, after ukswrath pointed out my teeth needed some work and gave me a much better reference pic, I did some more filing. View from top View from bottom Anyone care to put a second pair of eyes on these and tell me if it looks good?
-
Yeah, I was afraid of that. Thanks for the reference pic. Mine was from a bit further away, so it was harder to tell.

Next stop, frown town. I decided to sand away on the inside to try to remove the material, as I saw in one helmet tutorial. Pic of inside. I chickened out before I removed too much. Bit of work with an exacto knife and some filing And there we are. Next stop, trim the cap and back, and hopefully attach these buggers.

That is why I am posting here, for the assistance! I plan on installing poppers for the drop boxes and the thigh garters to help keep them in place and at the right height. My forearms are a bit bigger, but I will definitely check the fit next time I try on my suit for a test. I plan on making han hooks and see where the armor rests on my wrists. I want to eliminate all fitting issues before I trim the tops down and make a mistake. How close in would you recommend the fit?

Finally got time to start on the helmet. Sketch out the cut lines Close up Rough cut, Go for the eyes Boo! Some sanding and light filing. Frown is next!

Looking for forearms help/suggestions
Poseidon replied to Poseidon's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Can’t argue with the man himself! -
After doing a test fit of my armor, I have discovered that my arm movement is a bit restricted when I have everything on. I am thinking I should trim away approximately an inch away from the top of the forearm, both inside and out . I am using the ANH Hero picture in the CRL as my reference for this, and there seems to be a bigger gap on that. Should I trim it down? What sort of gap should I be looking for between the bicep armor and the elbow? I think I am happy with the way it hangs on the wrist, but I wanted a second opinion on that as well. Any suggestions? Also I know my drop boxes are off in this pic. I am going to secure them in place.

So question time. My arm movement is a bit restricted. Can I still get Centurion if I put hooks on the becips to hold up the elastic? The elastic keeps drooping down. Also, I think it would help if I trimmed away the inside of the forearm a bit. I am happy with how it hangs on my wrist, so I want to take away from the top a little bit. Also I discovered I still need to remove the return edge on the inside of the forearm, per Centurion standards. No rest for the wicked.

Test fit time! Beer and test fit time! I never realized how warm it could be wearing this rig!

Ok, lets make some gloves! I got the latex handguards and gloves from Trooperbay. Not terribly complicated here. Easy peasey lemon squeezy. I would have like for them to come preassembled, but oh well.

Let’s make a neck seal! I found some vinyl at the fabric store, and it seems to work. Make a pattern first Test patch to see if it works seems good prep the real piece now bit of sewing aaaaaaaaaand I’m happy with the results.

Exciting times and more pictures. I made a tool to help trace the edges of my thighs and offset them, and cut them down All cut down! test fit time! works good Test fit for the belt seems to work well too.

Hello all. I am in the process of fine tuning my body fit, and I have discovered that my thighs are MUCH too long, after I have already assembled them. I need some help in how to proceed. I imagine the next step is to cut the top of the thighs off until it looks the same as the height in the CRL (approximately 3 inches from what I can see). But if I trim the top of the thigh off, I will lose the return edge. Doe the top of the thigh require a return edge for EIB/Centurion? Should I do something else? Pic attached for reference.

Hey all, this thread is for my ANH Hero build. It is my first build, but I am trying to go for Centurion. Bear with me as I have been sitting on this kit for over a year, and have been working on it in short bursts. I am working with a TrooperMaster ANH hero build. First the real deal, BBB came about two years ago in the winter of 2015 I am using primarily E-6000 so I can (hopefully) correct any easy mistakes My goal for this was to cut everything out, glue it together, snap it, fit it, and work on the helmet last. Thus far I have everything cut out, and am fitting it together Here is where I am at right now. Once I get situated, I will take pictures of the individual pieces.
-
I have a wee problem. I used E-6000 to glue my button plates on my abs, but unfortunately, one of them is a little crooked. Is there a way to disassemble something glued together with E-6000 or am I going to be stuck like this? Can I freeze the pieces to make the glue more brittle, or heat them up to loosen the glue? I am really worried that if I try to pry the pieces up, I will damage the armour.

AB buttons getting scratched up when putting on armour
Poseidon replied to Poseidon's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Thanks for the sanity check. I am so close to being able to wear my kit (body at least). I was worried that I effed everything up and would have another set back. -
I am finally getting around to strapping my armour together, and as I stood proudly in front of the mirror, I noticed that while trying to snap the posterior buttons, I had bent over and the chest plate had scratched the ever loving crap out of my ab buttons. Is this common? Is there an easy fix other than not being an idiot? Do people cover them up when they are in storage so the buttons don't get messed up?

Nylon and/or Elastic Strapping?
Poseidon replied to Poseidon's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Cool beans, this is the diagram I was planning on using. There weren't real measurements for the snap plates, so I was going to eye ball it. I reckon about 1.5 inches away from the return edge should give me enough play. Does that sound right to you? -
I am currently working on a TM ANH Hero build, and I am about to start strapping everything together. The only problem is, I don't know what to use. I plan on using snap plates, with snaps on my straps, but I don't know if I should be using black elastic or black nylon. The only thing I can find definitively is gluing black elastic into the shoulder bells. Otherwise, I am unsure where to use what. This is my first kit, so if it boils down to personal preference then I have no experience. I have searched the archives, but I haven't found anything concrete. Also, any tips on using or placement of snap plates before I place them? I am using E6000 so I can correct mistakes as necessary. Anyone want to help me out?
