  1. The magnets arrived, yay! Ran into the shop and recorded a new episode late last night. Need coffee now...
  2. Yea, I figured, why not? I'll keep this up to date, too, it's way easier. Video takes a bit of work. I already see stuff I messed up, too. Ep. 2 improvements!
  3. Hey everyone! I'm super stoked about starting my very own build thread. Along with that, I'm going to document my experiences in a new YouTube channel called "That Stormtrooper." Right now I'm just a freaked out beginner, sort of like everyone seems to start, and I'm joining two hobbies in one, YouTube and Star Wars costuming. Hope you enjoy it and subscribe. The vital details. What AM 2.0 from Troopergear ANH 'Stunt' build. My stats 6'2" 225lbs. My new supplies, so far Lexan curved, 5-1/2" scissors Tandy "Line 24" steel snaps Tandy factory line 24 snap setter Dritz heavy duty snap pliers Plasti Dip aerosol rubber coating (for the bucket) BBB Day pic BBB Open: Standard autopsy pic:
  4. Which one, specifically? I'm trying to decide what's best.
  5. Pre-ordered on PC. Just trying to wait the extra 3 days now.
  6. Who says I didn't?
  7. At the risk of not going with what's actually voted on (I do have a favorite) I'd really appreciate it if you gave your input on what my channel will be called. I want something that rolls off the tongue as I'll say something like "welcome to X" so I'll refer it it a lot. Thanks to those who gave input on my other thread, those suggestions played into the creative process in coming up with these finalists. Anyway, thanks in advance for your thoughts and for voting in the poll!
  8. I really have like reading these too. I have a few numbers in mind, and they're available still. I've got a little time before I'm approved so I can really overthink this
  9. haha, I love some of these. Now I'm regretting I only have one name to pick.
  10. Nice channel. I agree, pretty much anything would work. I'm looking for something that will be easy to remember, rolls off the tongue, yet still reflects what the channel is about. I like the suggestions I've seen. It's gotten me thinking.
  11. I've been kicking around the idea of starting a YouTube channel that's dedicated to my experiences with this hobby. I'm at the very beginning of the process, as I'm waiting on my kit to arrive. I'm not approved, but in the "waiting for big brown box day" to arrive. But, I need a name. Help! I have one idea in my head, but I don't want to share that so as not to taint your opinions, but I need to get a few ideas on the table. It will be a vlog, mostly, maybe some how-to's, maybe some trooping down the road. Not really sure yet, it will evolve as I do. So, with that, I would greatly appreciate some ideas. Thanks!
  12. Hey Tim, I sure did get in touch with the Cloud City Garrison. I'm registered over there and have been chatting a bit. Otherwise, I'm on some loooong wait lists, so for now, I sit. As far as hobbies go, I love to wrench on cars, mess with computers, have a couple of YouTube channels, and I love to cook.
  13. Sounds like we're not in that much of a different situation. Four would be awesome though, I'll need to recruit.
  14. Hey Airborne Trooper, appreciate the feedback. Like you, I am in introvert, and generally have a hard time going and hanging out with strangers. I tend to have a few close friends vs. lots of acquaintances. Unfortunately, I live in an area where there's only one other 501st member within a 2.5 hour drive. Hey, it's a start, right? I'm planning on getting armor and building my kit. Maybe I'll draw in a couple more people. I did learn one of my casual friends was looking into making a kit about 10 years ago, maybe I can lure him in with a completed setup to entice him. At any rate, I'm stoked about where this is taking me.
  15. Is it ok to mix and match helmets and armor from different suppliers, assuming a purchase from those in the vetted list?
  16. Excellent point! Done.
  17. I've already done my "New recruit" intro post, but now I'm at the point of just wanting to talk to people about anything and everything to do with the hobby. Nothing specific, really, just, "Hey, cool! You're a Stormtrooper!" I'm in the process of contacting vendors (the ones on the good list, as opposed to the naughty list) and figuring out what setup will be right for me. So, I've started the journey to the dark side! Also, how off-topic is this forum? I'd like to share or talk about some of my other hobbies too, just in case some are interested.
  18. I've been reading a bunch, gearing up for a TK build. I just don't know which route to go (and ANH I get to choose from 2, yay!) What I can't seem to find is, what do people normally gravitate towards? Or is it just a blend of availability and wait-times, affordability, body type, etc.? For instance, I've love to hear, "Oh, everybody mostly gets X because of Y and Z...." Know what I mean? I don't want to be the outlier, I want common armor.
