Drill a hole in the PVC pipe. Reason they won't come off is its causing a suction when you pull on em since they're both on.
I shorted mine using my belt sander for a few moments. If you do that be careful as PVC melts easily from heat. Any fumes are also not great to breathe in.
A hacksaw works too if you have one- 2

You're crazy! I'd have a heart attack doing that!!
Bet it's going to look awesome too with a bit of sanding!

If anyone has instructions on how to install the split rivet please let me know.
Drill 1/8" holes for the rivets.
The split rivets go through. Remember to add the washer. I then take a screwdriver head and pry the eye open a bit.
Needlenose pliers to pull them out about 80 degrees. Then a whack or two of the hammer to set them good.

Hi Shawn, just a question as it's hard to see from the pictures; Do the shoulders have a black elastic strapping around the inside of the bicep?
-
Mine doesn't look nearly as warped, but it still has a fair few "stress bumps". I evened them out with clamps, warm water, and a lot of patient hand bending. Still look a little odd but not too awful.
I reshaped my butt yesterday as well, so when I get a chance I'll post pictures/mini-guide on what I did to reshape; might give you some helpful visuals.

It does occasionally slide under the thigh armor after wear... Might be time to reshape my butt some more!

Finally got time to submit my EIB photos! Been so busy helping my husband work on his!

I don't know if it's an AP thing or just the way mine worked out but the right side of the ab has a pretty noticeable curve to it. Much more than the left side. This appears to have made it narrower than the kidney. I tried to hot water bath it a bit less curved but it was difficult to fit in the pot and the return edges kind of kept the shape. This seemed like an easy way to ensure that I wouldn't get too much misalignment and would have a nice clean look when I was wearing it. It's pretty easy to get into at this point so it's not too big a deal. Also, I had the CA laying on the bench from some previous projects so I just figured it would give it that little extra hold. I'm already having a couple issues with E6000 on some joints.
Same with mine... trick to heating for me was to tie it to the shape I want with some tight string, put it in my sink, boil water, then slowly pour it over the armour areas where I wanted to bend.

That looks great Cricket! Are the backs overlapping in those pictures? Hard to tell for here.
You'll probably end up wanting to throw some internal padding on the outside to make them sit how you want and "bulk up" the knee area on yourself.

Thanks! unfortunately, I already trimmed the brow to make the ends straight, but now it falls too short and looks like the 40-year old helmet. So I'm going to order a new one. I'll do it correctly from the start!

Thank you though
Do you need extra brow material Emma? I have some excess supplies if you need them.
Can't wait to see your finished build! Walt makes great kits!

Take off some of the return edge on the shins tops and if necessary blow out the backs of the shins for added mobility. Makes walking possible
The length looks pretty good on them in my opinion. I wouldn't take much off length-wise... maybe 1/2" and see where that lands you. I'd also suggest fulling building/gluing them before making them shorter so you can get a good fit test before any cuts.
Your arm looks great; Make sure the shoulder strap is pulled nice and tight when you attach it to the chest-back strap and it will sit perfectly.
Latex gloves just plain suck. Smallest ones I can find look goofy on my hands and feel awful after an hour of sitting in them. I'd suggest using hard plastic handguards glued to nomex flight gloves for trooping... super comfy!

Got contacts yesterday before my first troop and they worked out great. I also moved the fans into the chin area a bit for better circulation so I could hear (at least a tiny bit) with them on.
Looks like we're about winding down on this thread. Shoulder/bicep fixes should be coming this week, I need to fix a few pinch points still, then I'll be set to submit for EIB.

Time to have fun with the costume!
Entry 1: Southington Drive-in Theatre
Date: 9/3/2016
Bread for Life was hosting a showing of The Force Awakens at the Southington CT Drive In Theatre. Five of us from the CT Garrison were there while waiting for sundown and the movie starting to meet and greet with the families supporting the showing!
My first troop so I was a bit nervous going in, but I must say after dressing up and stepping out of our changing area I didn't stop smiling for the whole time we were in costume!
We had some fun greeting people at the entrance area while "investigating the missing droids"
Our Kylo was a huge hit with the kids
And the photo op with one of the organizers

With the biceps, do you have a strap connecting the bottom of the bicep to the elbow part of the forearm? I forgot if you did that or not. It may help with keeping that guy pulled down a bit if you haven't fixed the issue yet.
I sure do, but it doesn't seem to keep enough tension to seat it down properly. I might add an abs "catch" to the inside of the shoulder bell so the bicep cannot physically move higher if tightening the forearm strap doesn't work.
-
Not sure that I understand 100%, but here's a suggestion: leave this as is, work on some other stuff, and then come back to this. Investing more time into something that's frustrating you now may not be as productive!
I agree with this... continue on, come back after giving it some time on the back burner

It is a bit far back, but if they're different sculpt molds it might make sense that there's a difference between the arms. You almost definitely won't notice them because of where they sit when you have the whole kit on
I wish I was more familiar with the RS kit to give a better answer.
I'd suggest asking ukswrath about EIB/Centurion approvability on them
- 2
-
Are the RS arms different for Right and Left? I know the AP arms are both the same.
I don't think that's too big an issue, you want some of that "swoop" so you can bend at the elbow. It's probably fine.

Looky what came in the mail today from Lewis at Hyperfirm :3

Legs fit a lot better not... still need to remove a pinch points on the back and probably change the butt plate a little.
I can walk a lot nicer now too with the cut holes in the back of the thigh/shins.
Still need to fix the biceps... they just love creeping upward.
Oh, yeah, I'm TK-20466 now

None of the armor is required to have return edges on it for 501st approval (ANH stunt TK anyways...) so if you want to just take the entire thing off that's perfectly fine too.
I have maybe 0.5-1mm return edge at most on my shoulder bells.
-
Get in contact with your garrison, there might be someone in the group I was looking to sell their kids
I think that's against 501st rules!
OP; I'd avoid this sale personally. For not too much more you can get a guaranteed kit from a vetted seller. I'm not a fan of 3-piece helmets either.
-
First fix; the thighs.
I know some in other threads have been asking about gluing before sizing. Here's how great E6000 is.
Butter knife I gently slide under the strip at the top of the seam
Peels right off. Then just pull the glue off both and you're good to go
I cut about 1/2" off both sides of the inside of the back butt join
Then I cut an area out of the back for my leg to have more movement
Regluing both sides, I'll post some fittings when they're dry

That looks fine. make sure your clips are up against the cap sides for EIB.
